1945-1952 - Space Station by Wernher von Braun - Von Braun was a leading aerospace engineer first in Germany until 1945, and after being captued by U.S. forces in the same year, he continued working for NASA in U.S. He made United States able to develop the Saturn/Apollo program, making humans landing on the moon. The pictures here by NASA show one of Wernher von Braun’s fantastic plans, designing a space station for humans. NASA said that “(Wernher von Braun is) without any doubt the greatest rocket scientist in history”. How does the brain learn categorization for sounds?

Categorization, or the recognition that individual objects share similarities and can be grouped together, is fundamental to how we make sense of the world. Previous research has revealed how the brain categorizes images. Now, researchers funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) have discovered that the brain categorizes sounds in much the same way.
To find out how the brain categorizes auditory input, the researchers invented new sounds using an acoustic blending tool to produce sounds from two types of monkey calls. The blending produced hundreds of new sounds that differed from the original calls.
Subjects listened to several hundred calls and categorized them under two arbitrary labels that were created by the researchers. The researchers used functional MRI prior to and following the training to image subjects’ brains while they listened to the sounds, but did not yet label them. The results showed that learning to categorize the sounds had increased the brain’s sensitivity to the acoustic features that distinguished one sound from another.
Researchers believe these findings reveal what may not only be a general mechanism about how the brain learns, but also about how learning changes the brain and allows the brain to build on that learning. The work has potential implications for understanding individual differences in language learning and can provide a foundation for understanding and treating people with learning disorders and other disabilities.

Hide the cheese and crackers guys, this raccoon skull is W H I T E!
Seems like heating peroxide to a comfortably warm temperature makes it work twice as fast. This skull now looks like a plastic replica rather than a real skull. Its also 100% complete! My first complete raccoon skull. No cracks, no missing teeth, nothing. Just absolutely perfect.
So I’ve put my second badger pelt in the tumble drier just to see what happens. Will it dry nicely? Help with breaking? Will it rip? Loose hair?
Looks okay after 10min. Nice and soft. Switched it to a setting without heat so I dont heat damage the fur.

Cotton Rat Skull
My first rat skull, found it in Florida all dried up next to our condo. Judging by the fur color, fur texture, and S shaped molars I THINK its a hispid cotton rat. There were a few of these little guys running around and they didn’t look like normal rats to me. But idk, there’s really no way for me to tell for certain just by skull measurements. I’m not quite that good at bone identification yet.

In many ways, Daniel Handler/Lemony Snicket depicts a setting amenable to female agency and empowerment throughout his A Series of Unfortunate Events.1 The chief protagonist, Violet Baudelaire, moves freely in traditionally masculine fields, and other characters—both male and female—appear remarkably unhampered by stereotypical gender roles and expectations. Roberta Seelinger Trites defines a feminist children’s novel as one “in which the main character is empowered regardless of gender. A key concept here is ‘regardless’: in a feminist children’s novel, the child’s sex does not provide a permanent obstacle to her development” (4).2 From Trites’s perspective, Violet’s freedom from traditional gender roles enables the entire series to take on a feminist cast because such a paradigm of gendered equality is taken as the normative structure of the society depicted in the thirteen novels of the series.

Or maybe that was just a coincidence that they are providing an ad for meat seasoning right after I posted about a cannibal seasoning their meat of choice. "The taste their meat craves" They even got the garlic I just talked about. Very fitting. Meat seasoning for cannibals. How neat. The mess hall’s weird dimensions were used as a visual joke for some shots. One of my favorite mistakes that became canon was the windows on the inside wall of the messhall were real and could open to the outside. EVEN THOUGH the QM’s store should have blocked that wall. The Team Team was pretty sure the QM is a time lord. The store is probably his tardis.
The spooky island mansion had rooms we never saw but only talked about conceptually 😂 I wish we could’ve had some more opportunities to see more of Camp Camp’s strange landmarks. You can’t spell explore without LORE. 👀✨
