The Day Is Cold But Were Not.

It was a winter day, snow poured from the blue detroit sky. Simon and Markus sat in the living room, along with Josh, who was in the recliner. Simon and Markus sat on the couch. Blankets were pooled around every single one of them. They didnt need them, really. But they found them cozy for movie watching.

The Movie was a newer movie, It had just come out last week ago. Simon had wanted to see it.

Simon was huddled up against the arm of the couch, Markus was basically slouched down, covered in blankets. The Smell of Cinnamon candles drifted through every room in the apartment. They had picked up the movie in canada well visiting josh. Who, since it was a teachers weekend and he had graded all the papers in class, decided to visit.

the windows were frosted over, small frozen dots clinging onto the window from when it was raining.

Markus and simon had been movng closer to eachother without noticing the whole entire movie, after it was over they might aswell have been cuddling. They noticed as there shoulders touched that they had been doing that. Simon quckly apoligized, going to move off, before markus gripped his arm.

"No."

"M-Markus? what do you mean, no?"

"Im comfortable, dont move off, please."

Simon stopped moving slowly, settlimg back down. Markus let go of his arm so he could get comfortable, Simon's cheeks were tinted a shade of blue, Which markus took note of. Simon sat there, a blushing mess. He had so many things he wanted to say to Markus in this moment but felt he couldnt. He didnt wanna ruin his relationship with markus over some silly crush.

Simon hadnt noticed how close they were throughtout all his rambling to himself in his head. Not until Markus leaned over, their lips meeting in a kiss. Simon's cheeks turned a darker shade of blue then they were, but their lips moved in sinc, they didnt pull away until Josh interupted.

"Hey guys, not to be rude, but im still here"

"A-Ah, we forgot-"

Simon was cut off by markus.

"We know."

Markus had a small smirk on his face, Simon was too flustered to say anything. Josh was laughing slightly. Blankets had fallen to the floor as everyone moved around.

"I love you, Simon."

"i love you too..markus".

Soft Cuddles And Bold Sunlight. (not a request, no warnings)

The sunlight beat through the windows of simon's apartment. After the revolution the group still tended to meet up, sometimes at jericho because north and a ton of other androids stayed there. Sometimes at the apartments. The Smell of candles wafted through the small apartment. Though, Simon never lit any, so he laid in bed confused. he lit some yesterday, and god he was hoping he didnt leave them. they wouldve burnt down his whole apartment. All of the gang besides north knew where his spare house key was hidden outside the apartment, who couldve been in his apartment at nine in the morning? Of course, androids didnt sleep, but they still rested their systems from time to time. Most just sat on couches or chairs to rest their systems, But simon liked the comfort his bed gave him.

Meanwhile, Markus was humming in the kitchen, waiting for simon to walk out, he usually left his room at about 9:30. Big Bang Theory played on the T.V, it was an old show, Simon had it on DVD cause he saw it at a retro store well visiting josh in canada. Josh had moved there to teach a school, he enjoyed it. Simon fiinally left his room, wiping his eyes to make sure he didnt get anything in them, he turned on the fan and dust flew everywhere, causing his circuits to mess up a bit. causing him to 'sneeze'. Simon only noticed markus a few seconds after, walking up to him. "Markus, what are you doing here so early?" rung out. Markus had hs eyes closed humming, and shocked a bit when Simons voice rung out in the apartment. His Apartment defintley had an echo.

"i decided to stop by, should i not have?" Markus' voice was laced with concern. Usually simon didnt greet him so shocked sounding, he showed up early all the time. Well, usually 20 minutes after, but he didnt feel like waiting today. Simon's look changed quickly, to a slightly shocked expression. "Ah, no of course not, i didnt expect you to be here so early. you usually show up at like, ten, thats all!". he nervously smiled, softly. Fiddling with his hands. he was known to be a bit shy. His Thirium pump sped up whenever he was around markus. His cheeks tinting blue. they had a conversation or two. Simon went to walk past markus, their hands touching as he walked past, Simon suddenly coming to a stop as Markus grabbed his hands.

Both their hands began to cascade into white and blue as the artifical skin faded back. All the things Simon always wanted to say to him, flooded through markus's thoughts. Simon face flushed blue. Markus's face only slightly tinted, hes a natrual leader. Pulling simon over by his hand, their lips meeting. It felt amazing for both of them. To their dismay, they had to pull away eventually. Simon laying his head on markus's chest. Blush tinted his artificial skin. They snuggled in the kitchen for quite some time. "I love you, Simon." rung from Markus's mouth. Simon, muffled, responded. "I love you too..markus."

what if RK900 ISNT evil? all he did was stand there. he couldve been just as curious as connor is. Kamski pretty much made them this way. theres gotta be something in them that he told people to put there that gives them emotions. he could be a pure boi! and everyone complaing about the color change n his eyes, if youve said simons got beautiful eyes once guess what? Incompetent Connor is so hilarious.

Replaying the Hostage and when you manage to save the kid and Daniel is killed and the camera pans to the kid sobbing on the floor and music is all intense and Connor just looks and walks around all cool like mission accomplished - it's such a great badass moment.

But when you don't save her and he walks the same way it's like -

I JUST FOUND OUT THAT SONGS FROM THE DBH SOUNDTRACK PLAY IN THE BACKGROUND HERE?? Look, I know it makes sense lmao but I’ve been listening to these songs with vocals and lyrics and all that from the sound track on Spotify and was only mildly wondering how those were even integrated into the game, so when I was kinda watching this video I recognized a certain part of the song in the background over those mall speakers and was like “Wait, is this Seven Moons??” And it IS Seven Moons from the soundtrack🦫🦫

I’m curious how the other songs got integrated into the game now👀👀 Like do they also play in the background at grocery stores or malls or bars or anything like that? Is one of them what Connor finds on Hank’s mp3? What’s the other context, I can’t wait to find out while playing👀🦫

I wonder if there would be a possibility for the people in Detroit to make these kind of jaffa cakes for androids and instead of the orange juice stuff it's thirium, I wonder what kind of material could be used for the biscuit part of it though since androids don't seem to have a more solid version of food from what I've seen, I only know about thirium🤔

I do wonder what Jericho and generally any android that has ever worshipped/followed/looked up to Markus would react like, finding out that he has had to kill fellow dying androids and rip them of their compatible parts at the scrapyard in order to walk the Earth again

Those were difficult circumstances, so I wonder: Would they blame him? Would they not be able to see him the same again? Or do they empathize and know/think that they would do exactly the same to survive? Do they maybe even know about the whole thing already? Did someone start telling the story of how Markus came back from the dead? Or do they sense it somehow? Has he talked about it to his close friends? Does he think about it? Or was it easy for him to move on because he knows it was the only way? Is that part of why he took on this role of helping all androids? To make up for it? Or does he 100% believe that it was justified?

finished the game for the first time on Sunday and haven’t been able to stop thinking about it ever since 👀 The way Markus was introduced with his cosy first chapter, especially in contrast to Kara’s introduction, instantly had me sold on him, he’s certainly one of my favorites🦫

also got a version without the statue from the pacifist route (which I loved to have as an option)🫡 love this guy

I’m still confused about where these rendering skills randomly showed up from specifically for this drawing lol😭

If I may offer some of my own interpretation for why this is supposed to be degrading:

First of all, it makes it harder for the guards to sympathize/empathize with them, which leaves them with even less hope to get out and leads to them being treated harshly consequently, which is degrading. And the android looks play their part in that even if it wasn't something that they'd personally see as degradation. (Of course the guards would be doing their jobs anyway but it leaves no room for tricks, no room to even try to pretend to be a human, no room for one of the guards to show weakness and question what they're doing.)

Most obviously: they're being forced to do something. They didn't just go "ah wait actually let me remove my skin rq it was getting kinda uncomfortable anyway", the guards ordered them (mind you, the androids they caught that *were* deviants had been trying to *escape* getting ordered around and now they'd be ordered to do something (something that would lead to their doom too) again, except this time it's not even just "in their program" to blindly follow orders. This time they're being threatened and forced to do something against their will.) It wouldn't even matter if they wouldn't usually mind doing this, being forced to do something and remain in that state in order to not be killed is degrading.

Another aspect is that androids live with their skins being turned on. At least so far I have seen no instance of them turning it off just for the sake or "looking their true self" or anything like that, Markus did it in the tower for the sake of not being recognized as easily and yes, probably also to represent androids, but I've seen no other android do that voluntarily. Of course one could argue that that's because they need to fit into the human society, but even in their safe haven they remained with their skins turned on. Noone in Jericho seemed to think "Ah finally, I'm away from the humans and amongst other androids now, let me show my true form in peace", of course that can all just be because they're in the middle of a revolution, but saying that "they're like that", without acknowledging that they in fact do not spend most of their time "like that" doesn't really seem like a strong argument to me. I understand what you mean and I agree that under different circumstances their non-human designs wouldn't be degradation, but these circumstances make all the difference here.

Furthermore, it creates uniformity. All of the androids in the camps look exactly the same, except for male and female body shapes and the one kid, Alice, maybe their eye color and facial shape if we're looking into details up-close. But if we're just seeing the camps as they are, it's just a bunch of androids that can be lumped up and killed row by row. Even if they weren't as connected to their human looks, their identity still gets stripped away by making them look uniform. Yes, that is what they look like, but no, I do not mean their "humanity" when I'm referring to their "identity". I mean their individual looks that keep them from just becoming one big mass to the humans.

Additionally to that: Androids seem to have a certain connection to their skin. Think about North and the android that was the same model as her, they have been living their lifes with these skins and I honestly find it hard to imagine them not having built any kind of connection to the looks they'd gotten used to at all. And then having that be taken from them forcibly and having to see no mercy in the way the guards perceived them... That is degradation.

And last but not least: these camps are supposed to mimick concentration camps. So they did the equivalent of shaving their hair off and taking their autonomy, individuality and hope. Taking the last bit of similarity to humanity (of course not actual humanity in the case of the androids, but similarity, which is the only way these humans would've understood and not been able to ignore that they are alive too, by seeing their resemblance) any human could see in them and sending them to die. The most important part of this degradation is their death becoming inevitable and looming over them as the humans give them orders they can't fight against and the panic about the upcoming destruction rising as they're forced to do something themselves that'll move them one step closer to their death.

I've got no intention of arguing much further here though, just thought I'd share my thoughts on this too, hope you have a nice day

I just finished Detroit Become Human for the first time and I’m in desperate need to talk about it

incoming !DBH SPOILERS! TW: concentration camp

I mostly want to mention that 1. I’m glad I managed to play Markus in a consequently pacifist way, love that guy 2. I’m glad I managed to have Connor become deviant while having a stable friendship with Hank and 3. Kara wasn’t as lucky in my playthrough. She ended up in a camp with Alice, while Luther had died at Rose’s house. The camps and their obvious references to world war 2 were devastating to see them go through, as someone who has learned about these events multiple times throughout my school life and who has visited two of the camps that still stand as memorials, reminders and informative sites due to the fact that I’m German, seeing Kara and Alice be stripped of their identity and forced to look less/not human to be degraded and most likely easier to kill, seeing the lifeless bodies being loaded onto trucks, seeing the two of them stand in these lines without any clothes despite Alice already freezing during winter, Kara trying desperately to get back to Alice while having to obey the guards enough to not get killed on-sight before they’d both be forced to walk into the machine and end up dead anyway together. It was a cruel thing to watch and a tragic way to end their story. I’m very happy with my first endings though, because this may be one of the most intriguing ways this game could end for me, I’m definitely gonna replay some of it to see some alternative endings though, for example RK-900 didn’t appear at all in my game, didn’t even know that was possible and Kara, Alice and Luther deserve their happy ending in Canada being a family of three, I really hope that’ll be possible on my next attempt
