21.11.2024 | today was ap lang!

i skipped school because of some document stuff and got some extra time to work on my research assignment for this class (which i was about a week late with), so that was great.

there is very little until my final exams for this semester, both for my school curriculum and ap courses. hoping to push through, but it will be a fast paced month.

hoping to share this journey with everyone! how was your day? i’d love to see some fellow studious people :)

today was all about calculus and i did around seven hours of math

to be honest, i had ap lang stuff to do but i didn’t get around to doing them because, you know, once that math hole sucks you in you can’t get outta there

but it was fun because i finally felt like i regained my confidence academically after rotting in bed because it’s fall break 🤩

anyways, i hope i’ll be productive tomorrow so i can post on here haha. i feel very unproductive when i don’t post here lol

Hi All,
Hi All,
Hi All,

Hi all,

Honestly, I think this is the most regularly I've posted. The end of the exams are nearly in sight!

The above photos are of my frantic preparation for my Ancient History exam after realising I know less than half the syllabus—although I blame that on bad, very bad teaching this year. Also inconsistent teaching—my ancient history class has been fast becoming the real life equivalent of the Defence against the Dark Arts position at my school, with our teachers leaving after only a term or two.

What I've done in the past two days:

about 6 or 7 short answer questions

research for my ancient history exam

reading way too many academic articles for my brain to handle

If any other ATAR students are reading this, hopefully we can all end this exam season with a bang! Nearly there!

Thanks for reading, and I hope you're productive this week!

I recently started reading "The Idiot" by ELIF BATUMAN. And so far, it's been brilliant. The protagonist- full or intelligence and dry remarks, is absolutely a compelling presence in the back of your head as you move forward within the book!

[Wednesday, 23 August 2023]

Today India made its first soft landing on the moon's south pole.

I was watching the landing live on YouTube like millions of other Indians and maybe non-indians too. The last minute of landing was more nerve racking than anything, considering it was India's 3rd attempt in doing so. But finally we did it thanks to the hardwork and dedication of all the scientists at ISRO and many others who helped behind the scenes. Dr. Homi Bhabha, Dr. Sarabhai, Dr. Kalam and many others who had this far fetched vision of Indian space research would be so proud right now, seeing how it is all coming together like clockwork.

India is the 4th country to achieve a soft landing on the moon after the USA, Russia and China and the first one to do so on the moon's south pole. Just like its name a soft landing refers to landing the craft gently on the moon's surface with a speed of about 2 meters per second, which is actually not an easy feat because of the moon's rough terrain. The terrain is still a lot better near the lunar equator, where the aforementioned countries achieved soft landing unlike India which did so at the south pole having hell-like terrains with all the bumps and craters, little to no sunlight, and temperatures going as down as -215°C. One of the main reasons India was eager to reach the south pole is the lack of information about it and the possibility of millions of years old ice present there. The chandrayan 2 craft present there has also detected some hydroxyl(OH) there. Hope this endeavour makes a "giant leap for mankind"!

And genuinely hoping to be a part of such a project in the coming years! Please do remember me in your prayers.

Daily blog #10

[Tuesday, 20 June 2023]

Another not so productive day. I couldn't really concentrate on studies mainly because my class teacher sent the scorecard of the highest scorer in my class and she literally got a 99 Outta 100. I am really not the type to compare myself with people but this time I really didn't give even my 50% so I actually really regret that now. That stress made me binge watch the two eps of King the land and NGL it's really good. I have a day off tomorrow so I hope I can do some of the important stuff. I really hope to have the highest score in the July mock test 🥲

[Friday, 16 June 2023]

It was my cousin's 1st birthday, so I went to his house, a Lil while after I came back from classes, to help with the decor and all. It was pretty fun and pretty boring, I really enjoyed the food though and the cake was delicious. Nothing much really happened and yeah I def didn't study again. At this point I am not even procrastinating anymore, life is getting more and more stuff to do instead of studying. Hoping to prioritise my study.

Signing off.

Daily blog #1 [Sunday,11-6-23] Had a pretty busy day, even though it was a Sunday today. I guess Sundays will be busier since I have to complete a week's worth backlog. NGL the Pinterest's beauty with brain study motivation is helping a lot. I finally started a book after a long time and my love for classics is only increasing with this. I am refraining from reading more than a chapters to keep my hard fixed sleep schedule alright(it is still not ideal but I am trying). Trying my best to hold out this time. I really wish I get a good score this time. Signing off! User_liztical

NASA Spotlight: Astronaut Soichi Noguchi

NASA Spotlight: Astronaut Soichi Noguchi

Soichi Noguchi was selected as an astronaut with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency in 1996. A native of Yokohama, Kanagawa, he is currently a mission specialist for NASA’s SpaceX Crew-1 launch taking flight to the International Space Station on Nov. 14. Soichi will be the first international crewmember on Crew Dragon and the first international partner astronaut to fly aboard three types of orbital spacecraft – the U.S. space shuttle, the Russian Soyuz, and now the SpaceX Crew Dragon! Talk about impressive. He received a B.S. in Aeronautical Engineering in 1989, master’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering in 1991, Doctor of Philosophy in Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies in 2020, all from the University of Tokyo.

Soichi took time from preparing for his historic mission to answer questions about his life and career:

You recently earned a doctorate in philosophy. What made you do it?

After my second flight, I started this research about your sensory system in zero gravity. I used a my own personal video, which I took during my last two flights at the International Space Station. I had a lot of interesting discussions amongst young professionals and students at the University of Tokyo about the research. It was a fun experience – but I would not do it again!

Space is a risky business. Why do it?

Space IS definitely a risky business. But the reward is higher than the risk so that’s why we take it.

Do you have a message for boys and girls in Japan who are interested in science and engineering?

Three words: Space. Is. Waiting.

NASA Spotlight: Astronaut Soichi Noguchi

Aside from mission objectives and tasks, what’s a personal goal for this mission?

We have a lot of interesting missions to do, but my personal goal is to return home with lots of fun stories.

NASA Spotlight: Astronaut Soichi Noguchi

What was it like to get the phone call to become an astronaut?

It was 25 years ago, but I still remember the voice vividly. I got a call from Dr. Mamoru Mohri, the very first JAXA astronaut, and he said “Welcome to the Astronaut Corps.” When I got the call to be part of the Crew-1 mission, I was a lot less nervous than when I was assigned to my first mission, but the excitement remains the same.

Can you describe your crew mate Mike Hopkins in one sentence?

He is a natural leader that takes care of the team really well, and he’s fun to play around with.

Star Trek or Star Wars?

Star Wars… just because!

NASA Spotlight: Astronaut Soichi Noguchi

Can you share your favorite photo or video that you took in space?

My favorite photo is Mount Fuji because I see the mountain almost every day when I was a child. It’s definitely breathtaking to see Mount Fuji from space.

image

What personal items did you decide to pack for launch and why?

I have lots of family photos, and I would put it inside my sleep station. Definitely one of the most challenging things about spaceflight is not experiencing zero gravity, not the rocket, but time away from family.

How would you describe spacewalking outside the space station?

It’s an excursion. The view of the Earth is just breathtaking because you are just one glass away from the vacuum of space. There’s nothing between you and Earth.

image

What are you most excited about for the future of human space exploration?

I would say I’m most excited for interplanetary travel to become more common so that the school kids can go to Mars on their field trip.

What would you say to someone looking to follow in your footsteps?

Don’t worry, be happy!

How has spaceflight evolved since your first launch and stay aboard the International Space Station in 2005?

This is definitely an exciting moment. We’re starting to see more players in the game. SpaceX is the frontrunner, but soon we’ll see Boeing, Sierra Nevada and Axiom. So the International Space Station will soon have more players involved, and it will be a lot more fun!

Thank you for your time, Soichi, and good luck on your historic mission! Get to know a bit more about Soichi and his NASA astronaut crew mates Victor Glover, Michael Hopkins, and Shannon Walker in the video above.

Watch LIVE launch coverage beginning at 3:30 p.m. EST on Nov. 14 HERE.

I just love the feeling you get while studying something that you love with all your heart.

Learning new things about it makes you feel like floating in a sky full of coloured fluffy clouds...

via  Gridllr.com  —  Likes well done!

You need motivation to study? Let me introduce you to spiteful studying. When you study a subject to prove someone wrong. When you spend hours writing up notes so that you can get that grade and smile smugly at the teacher who predicted you a lower grade. Find someone to prove wrong, it can be a teacher, a parent, friend or just to prove society that you’re so much more capable then they say you are!

Trust me, it works.

Introduction post

Introduction Post

Welcome to my studyblog!

About me:

She/her

12th grade student (math + science)

17 years old

Reason for blog:

So senior year finally started and I'm already anxious. Last year didn't go really well and I'm gonna make sure that doesn't repeat this year. I have this habit of constantly falling into the same self-sabotaging cycle of procrastination, and I hope this blog will help me combat it. I will try to document my student life, and hopefully build a strict routine.

Goals:

Build self-discipline

Incorporate studying into my daily life and making it a habit

Scoring a good percentage overall

Make it into STEM

When I First Opened This Account As A Student, I Was 21 Years Old. I Tried To Post One Or Two Times But

When I first opened this account as a student, I was 21 years old. I tried to post one or two times but soon realized that I was taking arranged photos that weren't enough for my motivation/productivity.

Now I'm 24. I can't grasp all of the change three years have brought. But I grew a little more, and I know myself a little more.

This is the first day of the year. My one goal was to practice doing everything imperfectly in all areas of my life. So this is the beginning of archiving my study-life journey. 01.01.25
