modern au liiy and petunia LOVE barbie with all their heart. when they were kids, they had marathons of every movie at least once a year.
when they became teenagers it happened less frequently, simply because petunia went through phases where she thought she was too "adult" to watch children's films, but even then she surrendered whenever lily started watching alone.
one day lily forced severus to watch with them and half the session was petunia and severus fighting and seriously discussing the plots of the films while lily laughed.
and at the end, each one made a ranking of best film + best barbie + best companion. lily's favorite movie is barbie a fairy secret, severus' one is barbie in a christmas carol and petunia's one is barbie in the 12 dancing princesses.
we all should focus on lily—her complicated relationships with her sister and with snape, her falling for james after many years of rejecting him, mary—her challenges of being a black woman and a muggleborn, marlene—her realisation she’s a lesbian or her working class background and more punk-ish values (bc it’s a common hc i see), black sisters dynamic (ITS A GOD TIER ANGST YALL ARE SLEEPING ON), we should also give dorcas a generally agreed upon characterisation. what we don’t need is a new male ship/character every other week, damn
