Devildom Hot Springs and Overanalyzing their Atmospheric Pressure

I remember this one post that I saw a while ago talking about how the hot springs in the devildom and their ridiculous temperatures so I decided to actually go and overanalyze it.

So in one of the chats Asmodeus says that the hot spring in the Devildom is a balmy 400 Fahrenheit (or around 200 degrees Celsius), which sounds like bullshit because water boils at 100 degrees C or 212 F.

But water boils at higher temperatures at higher atmospheric pressure. According to The Engineering Toolbox, water would boil at around 400 F at 17 bara which is around 16.8 atmospheres.

But hot springs are not at boiling temperature, and Asmo describes the water as 'balmy.' The standard Japanese hot spring is around 40 Celsius, meaning that 400F should be less than halfway to boiling (especially since it's 'balmy'). However that would mean that the pressure is above 220 bar or above 217 atmosphere since water boils at around 373 C in those conditions.

Devildom Hot Springs And Overanalyzing Their Atmospheric Pressure

The NCBI provides a hypothetical limit for the amount of pressure humans can withstand based on how far a human can dive (article here) and it's around 100 atmospheres (which honestly what the fuck humanity). But that is still below what we think the pressure in the devildom is and I don't think it is advisable to stay for long in those conditions.

What the fuck is the MC made of for them to be able to withstand this.

(Also was going to talk about Solomon too since he's also human but that guy is immortal I'm not putting things past him by this point)

This is the second of the two things I didn’t necessarily like in Song of Achilles. With how Ancient Greece was, Achilles and Patroclus wouldn’t have been or had their reputation tarnished for being gay. Being gay WAS THE NORM. Because, to Ancient Greece, what was manlier than two men?

So, I don’t like how she put a more modern twist on it. I understand why, us gays don’t yet know what it is like to live with our partners without (for example) weird glances from onlookers. And it makes it more relatable. But, I wish I would’ve been able to project that hope onto this book. It’s similar to how The Song of Ice and Fire shows brutality towards women in a MADE UP WORLD. Like for once I want my fantasy, my books to show what the world could be.

Anyways, I’m just sad because sometimes I don’t like the modern lens of classical books and myths because it takes away some fire shit.

There are two things that I didn’t nessarcirily like in Song of Achilles. The first will be discussed now and I will post later the second. I didn’t like how Miller portrayed why Achilles continued to not fight after quitting. Now, there is no fault to her, I might have read a different translation or just generally interpreted the Iliad differently. Or maybe she did include this, I just remember it not being as big of a deal.

So, I thought it was because Achilles realized that he could continue to live and live a long life with Patroclus. And that he didn’t need to fight or to be a hero. Achilles did say a throw away line that he didn’t need to fight in someone else’s war, but it was more portrayed as an excuse to throw a hissy fit. Which, I guess this is from Patroclus’ POV, but anyways.

We could’ve had a scene in the book where Achilles tells Patroclus that he has decided to live a long and happy life with him. Because of this, it would’ve hurt more when Patroclus dies and Achilles fights and dies. We would know that before Patroclus’ death, Achilles decided that he wanted to live a long and happy life with him. And that he gave up being a hero for that before his death.

Anyways, I’m just sad we didn’t get this extra angst in this story.

Over analyzing AvA again below the cut

So In the box episode I'm still curious on why the stickmen with the outlines in the small town were so determined to avoid the color gang?

Cause they don't seem to have a genuine reason unless they just prefer to all be anti social but the chances of someone at least answering is still likely.

Unless something about rocket corp makes them quiet and avoidant. I mean they either don't care or cover their face as they walk away. It's either rocket corp is a place that's kinda scary to outsiders or they're just genuinly antisocial.

If it is the first then rocket corp must’ve done other disturbing things in the past and not just the box scene.

It's an interesting thing to think about while waiting for the next AvA ep to come out(End of the year I'm excited :D)

Theories to figure out the world building✨️
