Something that kills me about rdr1 is John's apparent feelings towards the Javier, Bill, and Dutch.
Javier, he is 50/50 with. He can kill him or turn him in alive. It's clear that he's still very hurt from what happened between them, but it's also apparent how he still cares deeply for him. He talks highly of him. Fondly, even, as Reyes puts it. When choosing to kill Javier, he sheds a tear before bitterly spitting on his body.
When killing Bill, John shows little to no remorse. Sure, he tries to settle things civilly to begin with, but after realizing that he has no other choice, he doesn't make a big fuss about it. He doesn't think twice about shooting Bill in the dirt and handing his body over.
Then there's Dutch.
After handing over Bill's body, John demands his family be returned home safe and sound, only for Agent Ross to remind him that he still needs to find Dutch. John doesn't want to. He was trying to get out of it. He was hoping that Ross would just forget about Dutch now that he's gotten Javier and Bill.
John and Dutch play this cat and mouse game over and over, chasing after each other, tormenting each other, shooting at each other, but never killing one another.
Then there's the final stand off.
John had the full opportunity to shoot Dutch where he stood on the edge of that cliff, but he didn't. He couldn't. Before him, he didn't see a monster. He saw the man who raised him. He saw a father.
In his hesitation, Dutch also had every advantage to turn this around and kill John. But he doesn't. He watched Arthur die. Hell, he killed Arthur. He killed his other son, and he knows it. It haunts him. He can't kill the other one, too. So instead, he kills himself.
After his fall, Ross comments on the fact that even after all this time, John still didn't have the guts to kill Dutch. He then takes John's gun and shoots Dutch's lifeless body to make it appear as if John had killed him. "Looks better in the papers," he says.
It's such a heartbreaking detail. They couldn't hurt each other up on Mount Hagen. They couldn't hurt each other in the end.

The new obsession.
Mi padre bought me RDR2 and I am OBSESSED
So y'all get silly doodles
I've been thinking about rdr2 atla au and just mkay hear me out:
John: The fucking Avatar, left the temple when he realised, walked the land, when he realised war was about to start he wanted to fly back to the air temple, the storm caught him on his way. Very mad that he is the avatar but also really wants to kick firelords ass, just doesn't know if he is capable enough.
Arthur: The adoptive son of the southern water tribe chief, a firebender but keeps it a secret bcs FUCK FIRE NATION. Knows the ways of the water tribe and is pretty mad the chief left him and Charles here. At the beginning of the series he only knows basic firebending- his technique is very much akin to waterbending (WHICH ALSO MEANS eventually mf will have no problem with lightning bending wink wink) Finds John with Charles while fishing.
Charles: Biological son of the southern water tribe chief and will soon be the new one, with Arthur they are true brothers ALSO he knows Arthur is a firebender. Takes him out to fish regularly to calm both their minds, is also frustrated their father didn't take them with but also understands someone has to protect their tribe. Waterbender, knows basic healing. (The idea is that their father had Charles quite young therefore while he is old, that man is STRONG AF like yes grey hair but also just an incredible water bender, he took in Arthur as a young child/toddler).
Dutch: Zuko and Azula in one. A firebender and a firenation ex-general, kicked out because he spoke out of line. His punishment is looking for the avatar because the firelord knows it's a goose chase. At this point he wants to find an avatar AND overthrow the firelord. (Don't worry Hosea I have a plan).
Hosea: You know he is the uncle Iroh, firebender ofc. Dutchs bestfriend, goes to look for avatar with him, because of that he is no longer a general. Did attack Ba Sing Se, failed and his wife died during. Conflicted on the war, connected with spirit world, taught Dutch his techniques, protective over his and Dutchs soldiers.
Mary Linton: Princess of the northern water tribe, TURNS INTO THE MOON, poor Arthur.
Sadie Adler: Firenation killed her husband, earthbender and is the one to teach John earthbending.
Javier Esquella and Bill Williamson: Send after avatar by firelord, their tactic is to befriend John, end up being conflicted if they want to turn him in or let him kill the firelord
Micah: the firelord- no, I'm kidding, but the guy that got appointed into Dutchs place. When the word spreads that avatar is back and the firelord realises Javier and Bill aren't as efficient as he thought, he hires Micah to find and catch the avatar. At some point teams up with Dutch.
THE ROUGH STORY (i choose to age down the rdr2 characters and subsequently age up their character forms in atla)
Young John is raised at the temple by the air nomads. He is pretty fiesty and overall not a great student, but the monks know he is the avatar. When John finds out, he is very conflicted and unsure of himself. He gets intense airbending training, but because he is not a very well mannered student, they decide to send him away to continue his training (they know war is in the air). John, overwhelmed, runs away and walks the land for few years, somehow managing to never be found. As a young adult, he realises how bad everything is and goes back. He finds his sky bison still waiting, surviving in a cave. Guilt sets in and he flies off, but gets caught in a storm AND FROZEN.
100 years later, Arthur and Charles are the only two men who didn't go with the others to war. They go out fishing and because Arthur is frustrated (they didn't get a message from their father for a long time), Charles suggest him trying some firebending to "blow out steam". It gets out of hand and their ship burns, melting some of the ice. And so they see John and get him and his bison out of the ice. The explosion alerts nearby Dutch and Hosea. But worry not, John kicks their asses.
John, Charles and Arthur start their way to the northern water tribe. Arthur tags along because he thinks that when John finds a firebending master, he could finally learn something new. In the north, Arthur has a romance with Mary, but who turns into the moon while saving the moon spirit. Dutch and Hosea do catch John for a while, but he gets saved by the others. In the end, he and Charles learn new waterbending from the waterbending master.
In a village near Omashu they find Sadie, a strong earthbender and a widow whose husband was killed by the firenation. She agrees to teach John earthbending. They also find the kyoshi island, where Susan, Karen, Tilly and Mary-Beth promise to help if the avatar ever needs it.
During their time they have Dutch and Hosea on their tails but also Javier and Bill. Their tactic on befriending them ends up causing Javier (because he is a way stronger firebender than Bill) to teach John firebending. But the learning is not finished when a huge fight happens between them all AND Micah, who starts it. Javier and Bill show their true colours, so it's Dutch, Micah, Bill and Javier againts Arthur, Charles, John and Sadie. Hosea (at that point againts firelord), gets killed by John when he is in the avatr state. It ends with John being hurt while in avatar state.
Now on the run, John, Charles, Arthur and Sadie end up on a small island in the sea around the north. There he gets healed by a waterbender aka Abigail.
Sozins commet is close and so the final fight comes. John againts the firelord, Arthur and Charles againts Dutch (agni kai, Arthur is able to send back Dutchs lightning), Sadie and Charles againts Micah (they find out Javier and Bill never came back to the firenation, instead they deserted).
In the end John comes back to the island and finds out Abigail is pregnant (cough cough they had a one night stand) and so he spends most of his time there. ALSO PLOT TWIST WHY WAS ARTHUR SUCH A POWERFUL FIREBENDER WELL HE IS RELATED TO THE ROYAL FAMILY and so by some paperwork lies he becomes the new king (during their travels they find more firebenders who helo him with ruling + his father helps). Sadie stays with Arthur mainly just to look for excuses to kill- I mean be mean to ex-firenation soldiers. Charles is now the chief of the southern water tribe and when he and John have time, they look for any airbenders that could leave the temples and survive in hiding.
soft idea: Arthur learns to braid and practices on the boys at camp (ÂŽâïŸïœ*)ă
also bonus micah at the end
who up thinking about how arthur john and Javier were all nothing but scared hungry strays when dutch picked them up. idk. all three of them, all they had was fear until dutch held out his hand to them. theyre all the same in the end. they were all scared. they bear the same wounds, caused by the same hands. ate out of those same hands and leaned into the hot slick blood that coats those palms. each looking at each other with pity, pity for the clueless kid that gets strung along, pity for the bitter previous cradled one now thrown aside for the new younger follower. kicks a rock.
One way to get Sean to stfu
If you like Red Dead Redemption 1 and 2 and you like watching movies, then I recommend 3:10 to Yuma (2007) Starring Russell Crowe and Christian Bale, it's based off a short story and follows a poor rancher named, Dan Evans, and a dangerous outlaw named Ben Wade, as their journey goes on together they go from enemies to friends, and are tested on their friendship with a gun fight in the town.
(Ben Wade played by Russell Crowe in 3:10 to Yuma 2007)
(Dan Evans played by Christian Bale in 3:10 to Yuma 2007)
And for those who like fanfiction and shipping, there's great potential for Dan Evans and Ben Wade if you look at their dialogue with a romantic view on it.

A/N: Thought about how rdr1 John knows a couple of Spanish words, so naturally I wrote about Javier teaching John Spanish.
Words: 865
âBut if you teach me, itâll be like our own secret language. We can use it when we rob. People would be none the wiser to what weâre saying.â Johnâs tone was awfully convincing as he followed Javier through the busy camp.Â
âItâs not a secret language, John.â Javier began, rolling his eyes as he placed down the hay bale he had been carrying with a huff. He watched as John did the same before continuing, âAnd I donât like hearing gringos try to speak it. Itâs... annoying.â
âGreen-goes, look Iâm already getting started.â John smiled in pride, âNow what does that mean?âÂ
Javier couldnât help but give a short laugh at his dear friendâs ignorance, âDonât worry about it.â He wiped the sweat from his brow with the back of his hand, the midday sun coming down on them.
Javier brushed his hands together, a silent beat passing as he pondered. Finally, he looked back up at John, â...You really think itâll help us on jobs?âÂ
John smiled brightly, knowing he had successfully convinced his dear friend.Â
Javier remembered learning English. He would hear others speak it around camp and caught on to a few common words theyâd share. He remembered sitting down with Hosea and having semi-conversations with him, never feeling judged by the man when he inevitably messed up. That was always the hard partâ the fear of sounding and feeling foolish. He knew he wasnât stupid by any means; but in English he sure felt like it. There were so many rules and confusing phrases that felt almost designed to trip you up. But he had to learn.Â
When he practiced aloud, alone in the corners of camp, it always came down to swallowing that fear of sounding stupid.
Maybe thatâs why it seemed so easy for John to learn Spanish.Â
Javier admired how brazen John was; how he repeated the Spanish words with an almost reckless confidence, even if he was butchering the words.Â
He sat across from John at the campâs table, the both of them playing dominoes as Javier âtaughtâ John Spanish, though it was starting to feel like just teaching John how to say different curse words in Spanish.Â
âHow do I call someone a son of a bitch then?â John asked with a coarse chuckle, placing his next domino down.Â
âHijo de puta,â Javier replied slowly with a smile, placing his own domino down.Â
John repeated the phrase: wrong, but with his never ending nerve.Â
Javier couldnât help but chuckle lightly, âYouâll get it.âÂ
âThis language learning stuff is hard,â John admitted, placing down another domino, âI donât know how you did it, makes me feel like aâ pen-day-ho.â He finished, referencing the word he had just learned.Â
âPendejo,â Javier corrected softly, âIt takes time. Donât worry, youâll get it.âÂ
âEasy for you to say,â John grumbled, âYou already speak it.âÂ
Javier recognized the frustrated feeling easily, feeling like youâll never get it.Â
âYouâll get there.â Javier reassured him, placing his final domino, âOne word at a time.âÂ
And it really was one word at a time after that. Javier was slightly surprised at how serious John was taking his newfound Spanish lessons. He had moved on from curse words and instead would trail behind Javier as he pointed out different objects around camp to be translated for him. He learned: el caballo, los ĂĄrboles, and even el whisky.Â
âI think Iâm getting the hang of this,â John grinned. The pair were sharing a log as they were both hunched over staring at the campfire.Â
âWeâll be using this to rob people in no time. We can hit a stagecoach easily, we go in rĂĄpido, get the dinero, and then we can vĂĄmonos.â John finished in his thick American accent, seemingly proud of himself.Â
âYeah, maybe one day, compa.â Javier replied with a broad smile, looking back to the fire.Â
It was in the small victories that he found joy in. He had found himself looking forward to Johnâs clumsy, but enthusiastic attempts at Spanish everyday. Johnâs lack of self-doubt, once annoying to Javier, had now become quite endearing.Â
âSo, how do you say,â John began, breaking Javierâs train of thought, âGive me your wallet.âÂ
âDame tu cartera.â Javier replied easily, laughing silently to himself at Johnâs choice of phrases he wanted to learn.Â
âDame tu car-ter-uh.â John repeated, fumbling over the last syllable.Â
âItâs âahâ not âuhâ,â Javier gently corrected. âTry it again.âÂ
John sat up straight to focus, âCar-ter-uh.â He tried again, feeling like his mouth just couldnât get the right shape.Â
âHere,â Javier said, sitting up and turning to face John. He placed his hand on Johnâs chin, the scruff brushing against his fingers, âTry it again.âÂ
John felt slightly flustered at the touch, but tried anyway, this time letting Javierâs hand guide his mouth, âCar-ter-ah.âÂ
âThere it is!â Javier beamed along with John. He felt his hand linger for a moment before finally taking it away, clearing his throat softly, âI knew youâd get it.âÂ
The two turned back to the fire before them. It wasnât their secret language yet, not by a long shot, but it was a start.
i think i think theres a lesbian inside javier theres something in him its so ,, lesbian i dont think it wants to get out but the lesbian would think it would be cool if it did! strange...
