Son of Hades, blessed by Persephone
Arius is the son of Hades and a demigod, Morgan, the daughter of Hekate. He was conceived when Morgan, who had fallen for Hades, went down to the Underworld and disguised herself as Persephone. It took a couple of months before they realized what had happened, which made Persephone angry. She planned on going after the demigod but Eileuthyia, the goddess of Childbirth, and Hekate, goddess of Witchcraft, Magic, and Ghosts, stopped her explaining that she was pregnant.
Hekate and Persephone made a deal that once Morgan had had the child, Persephone could kill her for her deeds. Once the child was born, Morgan was killed and Persephone went to bring the child to the Underworld to raise him as her own, Zeus stopped her saying that the child was a demigod and couldn't be raised by her and Hades.
Because of this, Arius was raised as an orphan and was constantly being tossed from home to home because of his ADHD, Dyslexia, and his notoriously short temper. He had very few friends until he met Neith, another demigod.
Daughter of Athena, Hunter of Artemis
Neith is the daughter of Athena, and a mortal, Johnathon, an archeologist. She decided to join the hunters after watching one of her half sisters get eaten by a cyclops. She is the second-in-command to the Lieutenant, because of her natural intelligence and battle prowess though her fear of spiders does get in the way.
She met Arius when her and the other hunters helped Camp Half-Blood bring demigods back to the camp. While she was undercover at a highschool, she found multiple jocks attacking a 13 year old kid but before she could intervene, she watched as Arius lashed out and took all four jocks down by himself.
She quickly realized what he was and took him to Camp Half-Blood, which is where their friendship blossomed as Arius had taken to following her around like a small brooding duckling. At first she was agitated but after closer examination she realized that he didn't really seem to fit in anywhere.
Son of Asclepius, blessed by Apollo
Aeson is the son of Asclepius and a mortal woman who could see through the mist, Avana, who was actually already raising a daughter of Apollo, Merida, who was already going to Camp Half-Blood. Because of this, Apollo decided to bless his grandson.
As he grew up he expressed in interest in being a doctor or a healer which excited his 'sister' and his mom, who both thought it would be a good fit for him.
His best friend is also another demigod who had been going to the same school as him since kindergarten. Felix and Aeson were almost complete opposites but that actually made them closer.
Son of Dionysus
Felix is the son of Dionysus, and a mortal, though it unknown who she was. He grew up in a foster home with surprisingly good parents. Felix was an absolute wild child, who loved to play outside and adored parties, and grape juice.
He was normally a happy child but sometimes it was almost like a switch would flip and he would be thrown into a wild rage. Most people tended to avoid him because of that, but Aeson didn't see anything wrong with his temper and befriended him.
When they were finally taken to Camp Half-Blood when they were twelve they both instantly began trying to befriend the hostile Arius. After awhile they began to wonder if he had any friends but when the Hunters of Artemis came to visit they saw how close him and one of the Hunters were which shocked them as the Hunters of Artemis were notorious for their hatred of men.

This past Mother's Day has been another year of staring in the mirror wondering what could've been. It was heavy and unkind and exhausting. It was also the first Mother's Day of finally accepting and practicing my faith. I did a bit of research as we visited my mother-in-law and I snuggled the dog I came to call my sweet little girl. Not much came up in the line of searching for deities that could guide me through finally tackling years of repressed grief, but I found myself drawn time and time again to the thought of Hekate as I researched.
She is a deity I have been drawn to in the past. Her role of guidance of protection in The Rape of Persephone is something I always found comfort in. Magic is something I was pulled towards the first time I tried to come to terms with my faith in my teen years before unfortunately receding into myself again. Her reputation for taking in the strays is something I've resonated with growing up the black sheep of my family and my peers.
Now, perhaps a deity centered around motherhood would make more sense for most on this journey - and by all means, find who resonates and brings you comfort and progress. But, I find myself reflecting on my past with this long road and seeing all the bargains I tried to make, the promises to get myself right and be the best I can be. I see the way I take in those around me and care for them, protecting them the best I can and guiding them whenever possible. I find myself wiser and older for my experience despite my age. I find myself most at peace and able to explore my journey in the safety of night with the comfort of the moonlight.
Each person's journey with their faith is their own, and this is mine. I find comfort in my worship of Apollon, Persephone, and Hermes. I'm excited to work with Hekate through my journey, her torch keeping me warm and reminding me that I am not alone. The love of my deities fills me with love for myself and the patience to do this right and not rush my recovery.
Very useful info.
sorry if this might be an upsetting subject, but what was believed to happen to the souls of those who committed suicide? i read that hekate has reign over and can command spirits that still wander earth due to having died traumatic deaths, like murder or suicide, but that's all i know
Hello, Anon! Thank you for the forewarning, but I've studied ancient Greek and Roman funerary practices and I worship Persephone/ Proserpina and Hades/Dis Pater, so the subject of your ask isn't upsetting to me at all.
In ancient Greece, those who died by suicide were regarded as innocent victims and their bodies were accorded proper burial. ¹
As far as I've been able to determine, the cause of death has no bearing on the fate of the soul of the deceased - deeds are what matter. So if a person has, in life, performed notable or heroic deeds or been initiated into the Mysteries, they receive places of honor in Elysium or the Isles of the Blest. Those who were basically good in life are sent to the Asphodel Meadows. Those who commit hubris (a serious transgression against divine law, such as flagrant disrespect of the gods, cannibalism, violations of xenia, or the murder of kin) receive punishment for a short term or eternity. *
The wandering of souls on earth was generally attributed to the deceased not having received "the honors due to the dead", meaning proper burial and the subsequent commemorations with their names spoken aloud and offerings of garlands, food, and drink at the grave throughout the year and across generations. Those who died by suicide or murder, unbeknownst to their families or friends, may have received proper burial and festival offerings from charitable strangers, but not the rites and offerings expected from their living family, and some of them may been unburied as well as untended. Therefore, they would be among the restless souls led from the underworld by Hekate each month on the eve of the new moon, seeking redress of wrongdoing and their honorable due. Hekate's deipnon, a plate of food crumbs and scraps, was left at crossroads at this time, an offering to appease the goddess and the wandering spirits.²
Wandering spirits were also believed to congregate in the streets of towns during the three-day Anthesteria festival in the spring of the year. On Chytroi, the final day of the Anthesteria, a special porridge of fruit and seeds was offered to those spirits and the last act of the festival was to proclaim to them, “‘Out! Out! Anthesteria is over!” Herbert Jennings Rose proposed that these wandering spirits were "...the spirits of the unburied or at least untended dead...Once a year measures were taken to give these spiritual vagabonds at least a little relief, which done they were got rid of with all convenient speed." ³
It's important to note that when the ancient Greeks made offerings to propitiate restless spirits, they did so at some distance from their homes. One knows one's own beloved dead, and has a good idea whether encouraging any of them to hang out inside one's home would be helpful, but a random wandering soul can become a nuisance and should be encouraged to return to the underworld.
Hope this helps!
*I have no idea how the ancient Greeks who believed in reincarnation worked this. Presumably, everyone got to select some aspects of their next life, except for those who'd reached ultimate spiritual development.

I'm super sorry about my late absence these previous months, but whoever follows me on my main account and might have been seeing my work, but this one is very special to me and deserves to be in this blog
To those who are not familiar with the Hades game franchise, it's an amazing game based in Greek Mythology and the whole game, history wise, art wise, character wise and soon they'll be releasing their second game with revolves around Melinoe's journey as she's a disciple of Hecate, and as soon as Hekate's official art was released I NEEDED to draw her.
Throughout the process all I could feel was my heart very warm by each character design discovery, it only proves how much respect and hard work people from Supergiant games have depicting figures that are so important for so many people (me included)
I can't wait for the game to be out and for sure this is not the last art I do from/for Her, but here's my personal recommendation, if you're devote to any Greek-pantheon deity (and also like rogue like games) this might be a great experience!
