When I found out that, canonically, Hawkins' animal resemblance is a horse.

That made me wonder who would suit Marie. I eventually settled on roe deer 🦌

Faust: Oh, Captain! No, Marie is there at the moment. She wanted to cook something special for you, so she asked for my permission. I didn’t mind.

Hawkins: …Does Marie even know how to cook?

Faust: Well…I didn’t actually ask.

My headcanon that Faust is the cook on the ship. Firstly, a cat chef is just adorable. Secondly, his signature dish is biscuits!

A while ago, I drew this art and thought:

"Now I want this as a figurine of Marie, inside a little glass dome. And it should light up too."

Well, I finally got around to making this idea a reality!

The dress doesn’t replicate the original one-to-one, but overall, I’m really happy with how it turned out. I genuinely like the result!

By the way, I need to think a little bit, and maybe I’ll make something similar with Basil 🤔

Traditionally (a tradition that started last December), I’m finishing the year with Hawkins. Because this character is gorgeous enough for such an important role 💅💕

And I must say, I absolutely love this year artworks 😭

Hawkins: "I enjoy silence, Marie. Sometimes I prefer being alone."

Marie: "O-oh, I see…"

Hawkins after a pause: "Besides, they sing weird songs when they’re drunk. I honestly have no idea how I’m supposed to react to that."

Marie: "You don’t have to! Just join in and sing with them!"

Hawkins gives her a sharp glance, then looks away: "Absolutely not."

Marie, with genuine enthusiasm, places a newspaper in front of Hawkins: "Captain, I’ve found something to keep me busy for the next couple of days while we’re resting on this island! A nanny job!"

Basil, slowly frowning, picks up the newspaper and starts reading: "It says here… a giant drake is looking for a nanny for the weekend to take care of his ducklings? Is this a joke?"

Marie: "What’s so strange about it? Ducks are parents too! And his ducklings are still so tiny."

Basil: "And why are you telling me this?"

Marie: "Because you’re going to help me. You can transform into a straw creature. You’d make a perfect nest..."

Basil: "Stop, no. Don’t even try to continue this thought."

Bella: Oh, in about…fifteen minutes…hours…maybe a few days?

Bella and Donna (original characters) are ship’s doctors and herbalists in Hawkins’s crew. Some kind of "witchy duo." They specialize in potions, brews, and other curative concoctions.

So sometimes the results of their experiments with new concoctions can be a bit unpredictable - not overly so, but still enough to keep things interesting.

I absolutely love creating small artworks on characters' everyday/routine situations. But I come up with so many ideas that I'm not sure I'll be able to bring them all to life - especially since my inspiration constantly jumps from one idea to the next 🤧

So, I thought: why not share some of these concepts in a script format? These are the ones I might not have time to develop in detail, but I still really want to share. I might add a small sketch, but the main idea would be in text form 🤔

Maybe someday I'll come back to these and create something more detailed when inspiration strikes. What do you think?

I'm always intrigued by thinking about the potential dynamic between Marie and Basil in their childhood.

And when I think about it, they somewhat remind me of Aisling and Brendan from The Secret of Kells.

A young version of Marie would be restless, brave, and always pulling the quiet and slightly reclusive Basil into new adventures without hesitation.

However, the irony of fate is that, over time, under the pressure of her family, Marie's bright spirit was broken, and her former courage turned into shyness and insecurity, while Basil, on the other hand, grew into a confident and composed leader.

So, back to headcanon, I sincerely believe in: Hawkins’s ship isn’t just any pirate vessel; it’s practically a museum filled with cursed objects and artifacts with a creepy reputation.

On Basil’s ship, the crew isn’t just responsible for their usual duties - they also have to keep the haunted and cursed collection in check. These eerie artifacts, carefully curated by Basil and bought at various auctions, are not just stored away but are seamlessly integrated into the ship’s decor, adding to its uniquely sinister atmosphere.

Even cursed collections need care, so every once in a while, the crew undertakes a general cleaning. Not everyone is thrilled about this, but there’s a schedule, and it’s non-negotiable. And slacking off isn’t an option - if you do, you might find yourself haunted by some supernatural being from the mirror you forgot to polish.

For Bella, one of the ship’s medics, this task is more of a pleasure than a chore. She genuinely enjoys the cleaning, but not because she loves tidying up. It's because she gets to gossip and spill all the latest news to the ghosts and other paranormal beings aboard.

That’s why the crew isn't too keen on letting one of their medics handle the cleaning - because once Bella's in there, she’s likely to spend the whole day chatting away with her spectral audience.
