Have d20s in a variety of sizes. The larger the die, the greater the scale of the result, though success and failure still are based on the number. Players should pick a tiny d20 if they are cautious, or alternatively pick a d20 the size of a bowling ball and hope for a crit. Failing on such a large roll, though, can have terrible consequences.
