I am so glad I found this! I wish someone knew how to redirect my headbanging when I was younger (thankfully I mostly grew out of that one), or that other stims were okay; I used to be gotten onto a lot for any kind of stimming, but a few persisted to now, much to my family's annoyance.
don’t know what parent of an autistic child needs to hear this but as long as they’re not harming anyone your kid’s stimming is not a “problem behaviour”
Last Resort by Papa Roach (Kayzo remix, specifically)
If you see this you are OBLIGATED to reblog w/ the song currently stuck in your head :)
I’m looking into autism for myself, and I think I may be autistic? The thing is I don’t really see enough like… examples when it comes to meltdowns or shutdowns or missing social cues. So off it’s not too much trouble… could you maybe share some experiences so I have a better idea??
Certainly! Followers are totally okay to give their own examples, because these can be very individual.
Social Interaction Difficulties:
Not understanding how to perform small talk
Listening/eaves dropping in on other people's conversations in order to create scripts in your head so you can act out successful interactions
Same as above, but learning conversation through books or TV/movies
Getting exhausted from conversations or navigating social situations
Needing days or weeks to recover after social interaction.
Anxiety over interaction because you don't understand how to do it and you dread the exhaustion and the mental leaps it's going to take to do it. This is different to social anxiety, where you dread messing up or being seen as incompetent.
Difficulty holding conversations. You may trail off mid-sentence, talk continuously so that the other person feels like they can't respond, or struggle to listen and respond to the other person.
Difficulty making or keeping friends. May also not be able to define what a friend is.
Low eye contact or no eye contact.
No vocal tone (monotone) or improper vocal tone to what is being said (this can also be due to other reasons other than social difficulties).
No body language or incorrect body language (also can be due to other reasons).
Meltdowns:
Can be sudden or a slow build up
Sensory input can suddenly feel too intense or painful
Often accompanied by an intense need for the input to stop
Stimming often increases. If standard stims don't help, more aggressive stimming may be used such as self-harm, screaming or full body movements such as running back and forth
Has no end goal other than for the sensory input to stop.
Communication is limited and the person may not be in control of their actions.
Some people may be able to hold back meltdowns, but this is very bad for their mental health as the damage continues and they are not able to release the pent up energy.
Sensory input may include: noise, lights, smells, touch, taste, delayed emotional responses, inability to communicate effectively, delayed sensory input (the build up happened mainly before the current moment) or sudden input.
May be accompanied by a time of "reset" (also called a shutdown) where you don't move or respond.
Shutdowns:
As in meltdowns, but no outward signs are given.
Often described as "an internal meltdown". Many Autistics describe these as worse than a physical meltdown, as no relief is given from stims and those around you may be unable to attend to your needs to remove the input.
This. This is the post I need to show my family. Thank you for putting this into words.
Explaining autism to an allistic is exhausting.
Because most of the time, in my experience, they don't listen to what I'm telling them that it's a disability and that we force our square shaped selves into the circular world everyday and that slowly erodes the edges of who we are.
They're looking for hidden meanings in order to get Autistics to behave more neurotypical. They want to see us become circles.
I explained why we don't use functioning labels any more. And they will say "yes, but you do function more than some." As if it's an "Ah ha! Caught you!" moment.
I was even told today that I obviously find this all easy. Because I hold it together at work.
And I just get so tired trying to explain that I'm not "Aspie". I'm not "high functioning". I'm not "on the spectrum". I'm not "mostly neurotypical".
We're Autistic, goddamnit.
YES.
Wrecker would be all over the sporty toys, to the point that the whole Batch would get on to him for tossing balls in the ship and breaking things. I think dodgeball would be his favorite despite no one else wanting to play it.😅
I think Hunter's version of toys would be... well, kid-versions of things that are useful, like kid's first knife or magnifying glass.
Echo would get her a datapad more like snag one from Tech and fill it with books. Kids got to build up here reading skills and knowledge of the Galaxy and it's many laws of which she'll definitely break a lot of in the future.😆
You know what really gets me upset about the bad batch. (Dont worry this isnt criticism, just some fluffy angst)
They never had a childhood.
Omega, as messed up as her childhood is, she has the boys as father figures, she has Lula and the trooper doll, her own room with fairy lights, she plays ball with Cut's kids. The bad batch never had that.
So I have a headcanon that when Cross gets home and they all live happily ever after :))) whenever they buy Omega a toy or Omega plays games they join in. I have a personal headcanon that Crosshair and Omega stop at a stationary shop and Omega sees a colouring book that she likes, but Crosshair, he finds the mandalas, and hes fascinated by the ornate patterns and precision required that he buys the mandalas, the colouring book and a pack of crayons. And Cross and Omega spend all day colouring in together.
Tech absolutely has a Rubix cube that he fidgets with and he teaches Omega how to solve it, along with many other little puzzles.
If you have a headcanon like this then please comment it because my god is there possibilities galore and our boys deserve a childhood as much as Omega does.
Looky looky, now there's clone trooper armor for me to draw. 😊 Thanks to @tinytape for finding this for me.
I don’t know about you guys, but I have a hard time keeping the terms for various parts of clone armour straight in my mind. So, I decided to make this Guide To Armour, to make my life easier for those times I’m drawing or writing stuff and need to reference what this, that or the other piece is called, how it’s put on or taken off. (I’ve also tried to include/come up with some casual or slang terms for some parts because you cannot seriously expect these guys to use the Right Proper Terminology for everything all of the time.)
This is based on the Clone Wars cartoons, because that’s what I know best. Also, this is just the standard armour of regular troopers; if y’all want something about the possible additions/variations that you could have then lmk and I’ll see what I can put together I guess?
Note: a lot of this terminology is taken from medieval knights’ armour. Many terms are originally French; alternative names provided where possible. I did do a bit of research on medieval plate armour, which is the closest thing I can think of to clone armour, but I am by no means an expert so if you have any input or corrections feel free to @ me. Likewise, if you’ve cosplayed as a clone trooper or stormtrooper, I’d very much like to hear about your experience wearing this stuff, how it moves and how it might be similar or different to the “real thing” so to speak.
Figure 1: Clone trooper armour, front view. Kix got chosen for this because he’s a vain little bastard and loves to be painted. (ETA: this diagram now comes with a second, funnier version.)

i get so worried im faking autism and adhd because i also have anxiety and some of the symptoms are the same... do you have any advice/ideas on how to differenciate the three?
If you're worried you're faking it, then you're not faking it. Faking is a willful act.
And as you've probably seen me mention in other replies, the why is the key factor. Plus, anxiety is highly comorbid in both autism and ADHD. So, you can have all 3! I certainly do. And they affect each other in many different ways.
In S1 E6 of Star Wars: The Bad Batch, they had that whole back and forth over the tactical droid head... am I the only one that thought of that tactical droid head that led the Ghost Crew to Rex, Gregor, and Wolffe from Star Wars: Rebels? I don't know if it's related, but I thought it was interesting... pity the head got destroyed, but the data's still intact...🤔
This is too sweet, I'm gonna get cavities!🥰
Just some doodles of Omega trying to be like her big brothers 💕 I love her and I think she’s adorable, but it doesn’t look like Crosshair shares my opinion lol
It's likely because they seemed rather annoying and foolish when the first appeared in season 7 of TCW, though going on that misadventure with Ahsoka seems to have given them a bit more sense (in Trace's case, at least😅) I do genuinely hope we get to see them more, and that they grow into beloved characters, much like Ahsoka herself did.
why do people dislike the martez sisters i think they're cool >:(
today im thinking about the huge buff bread guy from kikis delivery service. highly underrated guy
Yes I talk, or rather text, too much. I mostly just add my two cents to other posts, but I'll try not to where it's not welcome.
