You know why people have eyes in the front? Because they have to move forward to see the landscape in the distance. If you had eyes in back all you could see is your home town getting farther away; you can’t move forward like that. If your eyes are in front what you see in the distance keeps getting closer. That’s what lets people move forward.

Yes, a pika is a real animal and it’s cute af!!! Belonging to the same order as rabbits and hares (Lagomorphs), there are about 30 species of pika belonging to their own scientific family Ochotonidae. Pikas live in the mountains or at high elevations. They are herbivores, and are smart enough to gather grasses and plants to store in their dens for the long, hard winters.

This is a baby River Otter, a cute, playful, and intelligent semi-aquatic mammal. Its scientific name is Lontra canadensis; although this means Canadian Otter in Latin, river otters can be found throughout many North American States. Otters belong to the family Mustelidae, which also contains badgers, weasels, wolverines, martens, and ferrets. These are agile and beautiful animals with some amazing adaptations for living by the water.

The Virginia Opossum, a fairly common animal in the southeast USA, but usually not seen out and about in the daytime. Always nice to have some possum pics!

Had a visitor to my parent’s house last Friday. This opossum climbed up into the birdfeeder, then went for the suet. After he finished, he went back to the bird feeder and slept in the sun for a little while.
