12:13pm — haitani rindou

12:13pm — Haitani Rindou

rindou feels distraught.

you were acting weird, and he couldn’t point his finger on it.

sure, you still indulged him in his music jamming hours, his nightly kisses and cuddles, even picking out which top he should wear, even if it was the same shade of beige (“the other is cream!” he’d argue.)

but lately, you seemed to stop initiating touches with him. and he hates it.

he would understand if you were having a terrible day, he’d even encourage you to share how it went with him, so that you can vent it out.

but it seemed like something else was bothering you and he couldn’t help but think it was because of him.

by the fourth day of you acting strange, he forces you to sit down on the couch with his arms wrapped around your frame.

“uh… rindou?” you asked, breaking the silence that enveloped the both of you for the past thirty minutes.

“hm?” “can you let go of me now?”

rindou shook his head. “not until you tell me what’s wrong.”

you blinked in confusion. “come on, baby. we both know something’s worrying your pretty little head.” you sighed, not even bothering to hide it.

if your boyfriend was anything, it was stubborn. and neither of you would be moving from the couch until you’ve opened up. and you can’t even lie about it, rindou would always know.

“i’ve been thinking…” “about?”

“...about how one day… you might uh… you might… find someone better than me and leave me.” you say, voice progressively going quieter.

you felt rindou’s arms around you still, a tense atmosphere surrounding the both of you for a solid fifteen seconds before rindou lets go.

“seriously?” was all he said, and he makes you face him. you let out a small nod, not wanting to seem over dramatic.

you were waiting for a response from your boyfriend, not expecting a bellowed laugh to escape him as he drags his palm down his face, not believing the situation.

the next thing you know is rindou taking your cheeks into a hand, squishing them together, your lips puckering up as he pecks them quickly before letting go and standing up.

“baby.” he breathes in, readying himself for the message he was about to deliver.

“i’m even lucky that i have you!” the shift in his tone was enough for your eyes to widen in shock as you sat frozen while your boyfriend stood infront of you.

“i’m literally built like a twig, my hair looks like a fucking wig that kids thought it would be fun to color with a blue highlighter and my glasses are scratched.” you watched as he slowly started flailing his arms around to emphasize his point.

“you’re probably going to be the first and last partner i’ll have and i love that you have confidence in me that i can pull.” he continues, “i really do, but i really can’t.”

your lips were subtly quirking into a smile but rindou pays no mind as he proceeds with his rant.

“no one’s going to look at me and go ‘bro, i wanna date him’. i don’t even know how you put up with me half the time!” the hand movements rindou was making looked ridiculous but you couldn’t even get a word in because he wasn’t done yet.

“i’m lucky that you even looked in my direction. literally, what do you mean ‘leave you’?” his fingers bent to imitate air quotes before he rolls his eyes sarcastically.

“where the fuck am i gonna go? fucking 7/11?” with the last comment, you bust out laughing.

rindou softened up once he hears the laugh that he loved so much escape your lips, your eyes were closed as you let out those sounds of joy.

you yelped once you feel rindou’s body weight on you once more, the force of it made you take a lying position on the couch with his head on your chest.

“i’m not leaving you, you’re stuck with me and i am never letting you go, okay? so stop that shit. i love you and only you. okay, baby”

“okay.”

“fucking 'leave you' or shit, bro, you’re the only one who actually wants me.”

“okay, rindou, i get it.”

“you’re lucky your ass is cute, because that brain of yours doesn’t function well sometimes, huh?”

“RINDOU!”

k. so. some edits with miyamura from horimiya randomly popped up in my youtube shorts, and i remembered my times of reading horimiya, finding miyamura cute but hot at the same time (i was 15, okay??) and i just randomly thought abt this one idea

PLEASE TELL ME IF YOU'D BE INTERESTED IN READING SMTH LIKE THIS!!!

so. reader once stumbles into a bakery of miyamura's family (i actually don't remember if miyamura's family had a bakery/cafe in canon, i read that like 6 (or more) years ago, but various fanfictions and little stories here on tumblr keep mentioning it, so i thought why not.) and just keeps staring at miyamura and then goes smth like "are u a cake? cause i want a piece of that" or some other weird pick up line. and then they realize what they said, miyamura realizes too, and they just stare at each other blushing super hard. and reader then apologies for being weird and tells miyamura they found him looking really sweet and cool and the same time, kinda like a bad boy outside, good boy inside all that stuff

so they end up getting some stuff, and they love it, and they keep coming back and eventually even start working at that bakery too

so reader has a huge crush on miyamura, but also is very self-conscious, doesn't think themselves worthy etc

but at the same time they have some kinda cute little bonding moments with miyamura

reader studies at a different school, so they actually don't see miyamura outside their hours in coffee shop, but they kinda become close friends

they help him with homework, they bake tasty things together, feed stray animals (reader even took some of really injured once to vet and then to their home where they live still and miyamura visits quite often)

so like he doesn't feel shy with reader as they've already spent some time together

but. then the canonical events start happening and miyamura starts feeling confused.

like he likes Hori-san, she is pretty, caring, hard-working and kind, but reader is just the same and he doesn't understand what type of affection he feels towards Hori and reader

so one is obviously romantic, and the other one friendly/platonic

but being friends with reader for so long, miyamura thinks he likes Hori romantically, and they start going out and all that stuff

reader stops working at a cafe and kinda avoid miyamura at all costs at all times, because they hurt. like, they respond to their messages with smth like "sorry, i don't feel good" or "sorry, got ill", or smth else amd always wishes him to have a good time with Hori

so the reader isn't like popular at all, they are just a grey mouse, so they think they are no match for Hori-san and try to feel happy for their friend (love) but they obviously are hurting.

so they try to kind of run away. they turn off their phone for a while and ask their parents to go to their grandparents in the village somewhere (I'll do my research, just not now lol)

their parents don't like the idea, plus you can get in trouble for skipping school, but they find some way to do that, because they knew reader really liked miyamura and they didn't like seeing their kid hurting.

so once the reader stops responding, miyamura starts to worry and he also kinda realizes that his feeling for Hori were platonic, because he misses reader not just as a friend

so the clothest weekend he goes to reader's grandparents and confesses, explaining that all that was new for him. having friends (reader had their friend group at their school, but they still were Introverted and felt better with miyamura than in the big group of people; but miyamura before canon didn'thave any friends except reader), first love, and they were confused, but they finally understand what their bond with reader means to him

reader confesses liking (loving? having a crush on him?) since they saw him for the first time (also they've seen miyamura in his school attire and think he looks cute)

but well. they finally confess to each other, bla-bla-bla, happy ending for miyamura and reader (maybe I'll be able to think of a happy ending for Hori as well (not necessarily giving her a bf/gf tho)

but well, yeah, happy ending for everyone

//oof. that's it... it got kinda long, thanks if you stayed till here lol

Title: Helping Hand

Pairing: Manjiro x Reader

Summary: You come to the leader of Toman to help you with your stalker problem| Genre: Fluff| Warning: Mention of stalking | Words: 3.8K

Title: Helping Hand

‘Ex-excuse me, Sano-san?’

You didn’t feel particularly good about what you were about to do, but given the circumstances, you felt you were left without other options.

You felt too self-aware and nervous to look directly at him, but you could tell he slightly turned his head to look at you even without looking.

‘Did you say something?’ asked the short blond-haired leader of Toman, and you almost yelped. You wanted to talk to him, but it still caused you great anguish that he replied, forcing you to go on with your plan, ‘Uh, I…I…well, you see…’

The boy remained patient for an admirably long moment while you struggled to find the right words before he suddenly stepped closer to you.

‘Oi! You should look at me when you’re talking to me. I might feel disrespected otherwise,’ he said, sounding beyond casual. Still, the possibility that you might offend a known gang leader was enough threat on its own.

You straightened yourself to your full height and looked at the boy around your age who wore a strangely disinterested look on his face.

Sano Manjiro, the leader of Toman, and the boy, you came to find on a school day forcing yourself to run late, perhaps even skip, watched you with a pair of the most alluring and sad dark eyes you had ever seen.

You saw him around before. You knew how he looked when you found him, of course, but seeing his eyes this close caught you off guard.

They’re pretty, though; you thought something about their nostalgia speaking to you.

Suddenly, he chuckled, ‘What’s the matter?’ he closed his eyes, and a lazy but pretty grin pulled across his face while he teased you, ‘Forgot what you were going to say?’

You felt your face catch fire at his words, and your eyes widened, realizing how silly you must have looked. You were already nervous, but now on top of all that, you also felt beyond embarrassed.

You slightly bowed and yelled, ‘I’M SORRY!’

When you looked back up, he was still there with his hands in his pocket, looking somewhat amused, which didn’t help your face that continued to feel all too warm or the fluttering inside your stomach.

You were never good when it came to talking to handsome boys. If it was possible, you would have avoided this interaction completely, but you just couldn’t.

‘You’re kinda awkward, huh?’ he asked, and you closed your eyes, fighting the mortifying feeling of embarrassment that he would say something like that out loud to you.

It was true. But still!

‘Yeah,’ you admitted quietly before you finally said, ‘I would like to ask for your help.’

Mikey’s leisure posture didn’t change, but you could see the corners of his lips falling a tiny bit, minimizing his smile, ‘Go on then.’

You took a deep breath and stuttered over your explanation, wishing you had written it down last night when it occurred to you, you could ask the Invincible Mikey for help.

The truth was a few months ago, one of your neighbors took an unhealthy interest in you, and the situation had only escalated since then.

It started innocently enough, with the boy simply walking you to and from school, attempting to be friendly. You didn’t mind back then and were even thrilled you might have gained a new friend, but things quickly spiraled as he started to make you uncomfortable with his comments about your body and asking you out. You wouldn’t mind him as a friend, but you weren’t interested in anything else. He seemed alright at first, but there were a number of reasons why he wasn’t your type.

Initially, you tried to be polite, but with time, you even clearly stated your reasons. It came out rather nervously due to your personality, but at least for once, you stood your ground. However, it seemed like he couldn’t take the hint, and later, he ended up full-on ignoring your protests.

‘If you give me more time, I’ll change your mind,’ he said with confidence, making you sick to your stomach since you didn’t want him to try any more than he already did.

You were an anxious person who tried to avoid conflicts and anything too uncomfortable to deal with. So, it seemed natural for you to try and stop interacting with him when you rejected his advances. It would be too awkward otherwise.

However, he seemed to disagree. He tried to walk you to and from school and seemed to catch you whenever you went grocery shopping or ran some other errands.

At first, it was uncomfortable and annoying, but it quickly became creepy. He was pressuring you all the time, talking about how pretty you were and how much he liked looking at you, and a lot of other things that, with the way he was looking at you and how he always seemed to catch you when you went somewhere, were beyond scary.

It wasn’t just that you were shy or anything like that. Every time on point when the boy showed up, you felt your stomach sink and nausea take over while he smiled at you.

Your family tried to calm you down, claiming you didn’t understand how having a crush felt or worked and that you were overacting, making you feel even worse about the whole situation.

On top of that, your neighbor was two years older and objectively somewhat good-looking, so it seemed like every other person you confided in thought you should give in and start dating him.

‘It’s not like you have a shot at anyone else right now, right?’ asked one of your classmates, which shocked and hurt you so badly that you stopped talking about it together.

Perhaps, you just didn’t stress out about how severe the situation was, but you still felt upset and betrayed that no one seemed to see it as you did.

Of course, it all sounded innocent on the outside because none of those people were in your shoes.

You felt incredibly alone while dealing with all of this, constantly stressed whenever he found you somewhere smiling and acting all nice and sweet while all you could think about was to run. Only to later doubt yourself and wonder if you really weren’t just being too harsh on him.

Needless to say, you weren’t in a good place mentally, and your anxiety was running all-time high because of all of this.

You hit your sort of breaking point when he touched you the other day and tried to kiss you, telling you he waited enough for you to be ready and that he wanted to date you already.

You froze, feeling the weight of absolute panic that entered your body and was about to tear you in half. You were never more scared in your entire life, and rightfully so.

Your only salvation was that before he could do anything, there was a commotion nearby. Your reflexes kicked in, forcing you to break free from his hold and run home. You drenched yourself that day while crying in the shower feeling hopeless and alone like you never did in your entire life. It was soul-crushing, really.

You barely ate that evening, and when your parents asked about it, you stated you weren’t feeling too well, fearing if you confessed what happened, they would just brush it off again, further breaking your heart and trust.

It was impossible to fall asleep that night, so you spent hours trying to come up with a plan until you remembered your classmate, who never showed up for class and just so happened to be a gang leader. You were unclear about what exactly it meant to be a part of a gang while still underage, apart from getting into fights and skipping school. However, since Mikey’s sister Emma was still spending time with him and doing a better job in staying in school, it wouldn’t be so horrible.

You were also suffering from sleep deprivation, so last night, the idea seemed really good.

Out of other options, you took all the money your frugal self has saved so far, packed your lunch, and went on a hunt for a certain blond-haired delinquent.

‘That’s not cool of him at all,’ said Mikey as you managed to stumble over your words explaining what was happening. Of course, you gave him a much shorter version of it all. And in your frantic retelling, you might have even watered it down a bit.

You finally stopped talking and forced your eyes to lift up to his face as you found it impossible to look at his expressions while discussing those events.

Your eyes widened, and you were left stunned by the ice-cold look on his face. It was so bizarrely different from the relaxed and bored one from before. It was an exceptional look that spoke volumes on its own.

Danger

‘If you told him to stop and leave you alone, he should have. I have a sister, and if someone threatened her this way, I would have killed them.’

 You were left speechless listening to the firm and cold way he delivered those words and felt something snap inside you.

A pathetic soft sob broke from your mouth.

You covered your mouth while tears started to rush out of your eyes. The whole harassment had been going on for so long, and no one seemed too concerned about it. Not your family or friends, yet this boy, who was supposed to be a scary and mean delinquent, appeared to have no problem taking your side and showing you the compassion you desperately needed.

Your insides were torn between going through the pain you endured for so long and feeling warm relief over his kindness.

‘Come on,’ he spoke with a much gentle voice now, almost like he was talking to a child, ‘No need to cry for a jerk like that.’

He stepped closer, and while tears ran down your cheeks, he leaned forward and grinned right at your face. Your vision was blurry, but you could still make out his radiating smile. Even if you couldn’t see it properly and were a mess, you still couldn’t help but think it was rather beautiful.

‘He doesn’t deserve your tears, yeah?’

You started to brush your face and speak, only to eventually nod as you felt it would take far longer for you to be able to sound coherent again. You just couldn’t help yourself. Until then, everyone seemed so dismissive of what was going on.

Mikey barely knew you and immediately chose to take your side on all of this. It was a bit overwhelming for you, to say the least.

‘Mikey-kun, sorry it took so long, but they-AAAA!’

You immediately stopped crying, startled by the yelling, and looked behind Mikey at another blond-haired boy you weren’t familiar with, who was looking and pointing directly at you with shock written all over him.

‘Hm?’ Mikey turned back to the boy with seemingly disinterest before he said, ‘Takemitchy, you kept me waiting for so long.’

The other blond finally dropped his hand but remained looking at you with his eyes wide, ‘W-what are you doing, Mikey-kun?’

‘Ah, this awkward girl here wants me to beat up her stalker, so he’ll leave her alone,’ he said. You were stunned he could speak so casually about it, as if girls all over town came to him and asked him for his services.

I hope not, you found yourself thinking with a sour taste inside your mouth. You were surprised you cared. It wasn’t like you would wish your situation on anyone, and if someone unfortunate did end up in it, you hoped they had options to be helped and saved. You also hoped that option wasn’t the blond who you wished would only help you.

‘She’s kinda cute though, right?’ he asked next, causing your eyes to widen and your cheeks to get warm again, ‘Cries just like you.’

‘Oi!’ complained the other boy but remained looking between you and Mikey, somewhat panicked, confusing you even more. Did he know you or something?

You were puzzled and a bit freaked out about why he was staring at you like that before Mikey turned back to face you and let out a relieved sigh, ‘You done with the waterfalls, huh?’

‘Y-yeah,’ you said and brushed your cheeks some more before you started to search your school bag for a wallet, ‘I don’t have a lot, but here.’

‘Keep it,’ he said, and your hand paused mid-air with your wallet inside it.

The corner of his mouth pulled into another smile, ‘I have subordinates to give me money. I would feel pretty bad if I took yours. Though, I have a request.’

‘Anything,’ you said before you could properly think about your words and blushed even harder when Mikey chuckled and then pulled the corner of your lips into a lazy smirk. Your neighbor smiled at you a lot, which often caused your belly to react, but you couldn’t help but think it was nothing similar to the strangely sweet warmth you felt now. It was still awkward and slightly out of your comfort zone, but not in a way; you wished to run as far away as you could from the boy. Quite the opposite, actually.

You slapped a hand over your mouth while Mikey lectured you, ‘Careful with such things. Someone might get the wrong impression again, and I won’t always have time to beat up your stalkers, okay?’

You dutifully nodded, and the blond-haired boy pointed at the lunch box sticking out of your bag, ‘Share your lunch with me.’

You blinked and uncovered your mouth, surprised.

‘Kenchin cut me off,’ he started to explain as if you knew who that person was, ‘and Takemitchy is already buying me dorayaki-’

‘I am?’ asked the boy behind him, and you uncovered your palm and giggled at his funny antics.

Even if just slightly and for less than a second, but when you did, it seemed his dark eyes lit up with something other than that dark nostalgia they seem to carry constantly.

You tried to give him your wallet anyway, but he didn’t even reach for it, so you ultimately put it back.

 ‘Of course, you can take it,’ you handed the nearly packed bento into his awaiting palm, ‘I’m not that good of a cook, but I hope you’ll enjoy it anyway.’

He smiled upon accepting it, ‘It smells good, so I have high hopes for it,’ he then put on a very childlike face and said, ‘I’ll be very disappointed if it doesn’t.’

You didn’t like the sound of that and went to tell him, but he suddenly stepped closer to you. Your shoulders touched obviously on purpose, and he tilted his head to be able to speak directly into your ear, ‘Go back to class, Y/N-chan. I’ll come pick you up when I’m done with that guy. Yeah?’

You felt a shiver run through your entire being for some reason.

Your hand quickly covered your ear and stepped away feeling flushed and warm, unlike never before over his teasing. He had to do it purposefully, knowing it would leave you flustered. But he didn’t touch you; instead, he left you feeling shy, embarrassed, and warm than uncomfortable like your stalker.

Mikey only grinned at you with a look behind his dark eyes you couldn’t read before he walked further down the street, calling for Takemitchy, the other blond-haired boy, to follow, which he did momentary pausing to give you a quick wave, ‘Bye, Y/L/N-san.’

You blinked several times before you turned back to watch them get on Mikey’s bike and drive, leaving you to wonder how he knew your name. You were surprised Mikey knew it since he rarely, if ever, showed up at class, and you were certain you never spoke with one another until today. But for that odd boy to know it as well?

So strange, you thought to yourself before you made your way to your school. Your only sanctuary since your stalker didn’t go there. Yet.

You almost threw up the one time he mentioned he might transfer even if he wouldn’t be in your class since he was older, but at least he would be able to see you more often during the day.

The day ended, and you dutifully waited in front of the school building close enough to take refuge there if needed, even if that had never worked before. It didn’t matter if you went home too late or not; it seemed your neighbor always caught up to you.

Finally, after a while, Mikey showed up on his bike, along with another of your classmates, Ryuguji Ken, who almost never showed up in school either, and the odd boy you only met today, Takemitchi.

‘Here, it was delicious.’

You took your bento from his hands and stuffed it back into your bag, noting it was empty before you looked at him again. He seemed in a good mood, partly lying over his bike while smiling at you.

You grimaced, ‘Hardly. My relatives always tell me I use too much salt or spice-’

‘You did,’ he chuckled, surprising you, ‘But you also gave me the whole thing instead of sharing and did your best, so it’s fine.’

You knew you were blushing when he said that and looked away so you would calm down a bit. It was hard to watch him when he looked this happy and handsome at you of all people, ‘Y-you don’t know if I really put that much effort into it.’

‘I do,’ he said with confidence and amusement, ‘You seem like the type.’

There was no point in denying it, so you took a deep breath and looked up, ‘W-well, did you manage to…’

‘Your neighbor won’t bother you again,’ he assured with a distant look behind his dark eyes, ‘He’ll stay away from you from now on.’

You watched him for a moment, finally letting those words sink in. You didn’t realize how stressed you were while waiting until Mikey finally showed up again. It wasn’t like you could assess his abilities since you never saw him fight or deal with his subordinates, so you were unsure if he could do something to have your stalker leave you alone. You feared your stalker would somehow talk his way out of it like he always seemed to. Now that you knew everything worked out, you felt like crying again.

‘Ah, come on, no more of those waterfalls,’ joked Mikey and reached out, swiping a tear from your cheek, ‘A guy like that definitely doesn’t deserve them. Don’t let them go to waste on him.’

His hand was warm, and everything about him felt so kind you thought you couldn’t handle it anymore. You were dealing with it for a long time; you felt overwhelmed with it all.

‘Thank you!’ you could help but yell before suddenly you found your arms hanging around the blond boy’s neck and your chest pressed against his while you tried to fight back tears of gratitude, ‘Thank you so much!’

You squeezed him for a second or two before you jumped away and bowed, ‘I know it’s probably not a big deal to you, but it means a lot to me, so’ you rose and offered him your best smile while still attempting not to cry, ‘Thank you for saving me.’

When you looked at Mikey’s face, you could see just how shocked he was with his slightly opened mouth and widened eyes staring at you as if you grew a second head. You didn’t blame him, as you looked like a lunatic that tossed herself on poor victims.

You blamed the horrible stress you had to endure all this time to be the reason, not to mention the fact that the boy was so nice about the whole thing. Not even accepting your money, just your hardly tasty lunch. And he even claimed it was delicious when you knew it wasn’t that special.

You offered him a nod, unsure what to do next, and caught yourself thinking that you should run, only to have him call for you, ‘Wait!’

His voice sounded different now, and you panicked, thinking he must have hated when people touched him without asking, and perhaps wanted to scold you only to be met with his pretty face looking especially childlike and open arms, ‘Not enough, give me more.’

‘Mikey-kun! Don’t just demand that!’ yelled the panicked blond boy distressed behind him, but you already found yourself walking to the boy who saved you and put your arms around him, having him almost dive into you while letting out a small sigh.

‘This is nice.’

You held him closer, closed your eyes to experience the moment properly, and held onto him if he really said, ‘I’m glad.’

It should have been bizarre to hug a relative stranger like this, but it didn’t feel that way. Mikey smelled like food and something earthy, and he helped you tight enough that, along with what he did for you, you felt safe. It was a good, really pleasant feeling. One that you wouldn’t mind prolonging even longer to savor every second of it if you didn’t hear Ryuguji call, ‘Oi! Mikey, wrap it up! You know we need to be elsewhere soon.’

The blond let out a little pouty sound that made you giggle against his ear before you could stop yourself.

Just as you did, you felt Mikey’s grip tightened ever so slightly, ‘I like that sound.’

‘Hm?’

‘That sound you make when you laugh,’ he said, and you smiled, trying to hide your face a bit. You couldn’t remember the last time someone complimented you, making your insides feel like cotton candy. Still, you were glad you didn’t because the idea that only the Toman leader did was far sweeter.

Ultimately, he let you go and, very disappointed, admitted he had to go, ‘Kenchin’s right. Today, Takemitchi will walk you home. I promised to kick his ass if anything happens to you, and he has a girlfriend who will beat his ass so that he won’t make a move on you.’

You grimaced and tried to deny his offer since you didn’t want to bother the other boy.

‘Tomorrow though,’ said Mikey cutting you off, ‘I’ll take you out after school, alright?’

Your lips parted in shock, although you really shouldn’t have been surprised since the blond did compliment you a lot today, and you just spent a very long while hugging him.

It might have been pathetic, but you couldn’t stop the smile from spreading across your face as you nodded and accepted having a very good feeling about it.

Title: Habits

Pairing: Shinichiro x reader

Summary: You ask your crush and childhood friend, Shin, to quit smoking for a month to some interesting results. | Genre: Fluff | Warning: none | Words: 2.8K

Title: Habits

‘SHIN! SERIOUSLY?!’ you snapped at your childhood friend while covering your nose with one hand and frantically waving away the smoke from his cigarette that got close to your face with the other.

The dark-haired man glance back at you and grimaced with the cigarette between his lips, ‘Sorry.’

He leisurely took it out of his mouth and put it out against the back of his shoe while you tried to find a bit of air that wasn’t compromised by the disgusting smell, ‘You really need to stop.’

‘It’s just a bit of smoke,’ he said looking his typical relaxed and amused self.

‘It kills!’ you shot back heated since it wasn’t the first time, you two had this discussion about Shin’s less-than-safe habit.

He grinned, ‘You say that like you care.’

If he wasn’t smiling in his typical boylike charming way, those words would sound horribly accusatory, and even if you knew he was just teasing you couldn’t help but soften upon hearing them, ‘Shin, I mean it. It’s not good for you. I don’t want you to…die young.’

His relaxed look cracked a tiny bit.

He knew you cared.

You knew one another since before kindergarten. You were always in each other’s life one way or another. Even when life drifted you apart, you still remained friendly before you re-established your old friendship for good a couple of years ago.

He offered you a delicate look, and you knew he was thinking about all those things you told him about how you lost people from your life. One way or another.

‘I’ll be fine. I don’t smoke around the little ones,’ he tried to brush it off again. True, he was decent enough not to smoke around Emma, Mikey, or even Izana and made sure his smoker friends like Takeomi did the same, but you still hated that he smoked all the same even more so when he said, ‘I’m not hurting anyone else-’

‘Hurting yourself is more than enough, idiot,’ you mumbled now feeling annoyed over having the same argument over and over again.

You started to walk ignoring the young man.

It took Shin a while as he was probably thinking about what you said before he caught up to you and put his arm around your shoulders startling you a bit.

Your heart started to pound like crazy feeling the warmth radiating from his body against your own even through the layers of clothing. You could only hope your traitorous cheeks weren’t red enough for him to notice again. You barely made it out of the last situation similar to this by lying you had a fever.

Shin grinned at you, ‘Stopping seems like such a hassle.’

‘Have you at least tried it?’ you asked hoping being annoyed with him would busy your body from reacting in such a way to him. Even if the smell of cigarettes twisted your stomach enough to make you throw up, your heart was like Shin’s presence.

The real hassle was having a crush on your childhood friend, you thought knowing that those words could never leave your lips. You figured if he liked you, he would have said something by now, or at least initiate something. He might have been unlucky with girls in the past, but the young man was really straightforward about such things shamelessly commenting other women on the street even if you were around. Not that he would know he was making you jealous because you would never confess and risk your friendship becoming awkward.

‘Not really. I was once really low on money, but even then, I managed to get some from beating up these punks,’ he said looking awfully proud, and you pulled at his cheek rather harshly causing him to yelp.

‘Yeah, and I ended up nursing your stupid wounds, and using all my cute band-aids on your sorry ass.’

He got your hand away from his face and stepped away from you to brush his wounded cheek, ‘True, but at least it looked like I had a cute girlfriend. For a moment, I was the real King.’

‘Idiot,’ you mumbled again brushing your arm feeling disappointed over the lack of his warmth, ‘If you never really tried to quit, why not give it a go now? You would be surprised how much money you would save.’

You started to walk again. At this ridiculous rate, you would never make it to Wakasa’s gym before dark.

‘Maybe,’ he said before he chuckled, ‘Maybe not, I spend quite a lot on you, don’t I?’

Your cheeks flushed, and you managed to look away embarrassed at the last second before he was by your side no doubt grinning like a lovable idiot.

‘It’s not my fault. I’m a poor uni student,’ you used a weak excuse. It was true, Shin made it a point to take you out for dinner or lunch whenever he had the time always paying before you even had a chance to pull out your wallet. It was big and little things like these that caused your pathetic heart to beat like crazy and your face to turn into a tomato because of the former delinquent.

‘I don’t mind,’ he said, and it sounded so sincere, you couldn’t help, but look at him if only to catch that sweet look in his dark eyes.

The guy couldn’t score a date to save his life and yet here he was practically charming the pants off you.

You cleared your throat, ‘B-but to the main topic. You should try it. At least to see if you would be able to go without it for a month.’

‘For a month? Be realistic,’ he grunted a bit and put his arms behind his head like he was a kid again causing you to smile almost remembering the two of you walking home from school before you went to middle school. Those were simpler times when you considered all boys stupid. You still did, but it didn’t change the fact that you wouldn’t mind if this stupid one was yours.

‘It’s not that long,’ you said and crossed your arms.

‘A week maybe.’

‘A month.’

‘Two weeks.’

‘A month!’

‘What will I get if I manage?’

You frowned and looked back at him confused, ‘A better-improved health? More money? Not smelling like an ashtray?’ you asked listing the obvious. He had to know it was a horrible habit, right? ‘It’s really hard to be close to you when you talk. Your mouth smells so gross even now,’ you waved your palm in front of your nose as if to prove your point. It was bad. At times when Shin was his absolute best and sweetest causing you to die out of a cardiac arrest or crawl into his lap and kiss him just once because of what a beautiful human being he was, that gross smell always pulled you back to the reality.

He glanced at you for a moment, and you almost felt bad for saying it like that, but it was true, perhaps, one of the few reasons, apart from being sane, that you didn’t try to do something reckless about your crush was because the smell was just too awful to bear.

The look on his face was unreadable for a moment, and you could tell he was thinking, ‘Alright, what will you give me if I manage to go smoke-free for a month.’

Your eyes widened, and you felt your throat go dry, ‘W-what? What the hell do you mean what will I give you?’

He grinned stepping far closer to you than before causing you to catch wind of the disgusting cigarette smoke, ‘What will you give me if I manage not to smoke for a month?’

You felt so embarrassed, but at the same time, you couldn’t help but grin back at him when he was looking at you like this. No matter how silly you felt about your little crush, Shin always made it impossible to not want to be around him, ‘You’re horrible.’

‘Come on,’ he laughed, and you took a step back taking the lead again, ‘Anything you want,’ you said without thinking, ‘Now, let’s go! Wakasa will kill us if we keep him waiting again.’

‘Anything I want, hm? Sounds promising,’ he tossed it out there as casually as he did everything else causing a shiver to run through your body. You hoped he was just teasing you the way he always did. You were certain, you wouldn’t be able to survive if he was being serious.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You were definitely impressed to see Shin work his hardest to quit smoking. He seemed more stressed at times, obviously craving it, but he didn’t lose his personality completely acting his usual self toward you. It was both a blessing and curse for your weak heart though.
You noticed Shin spent more time chewing gum or eating sweets probably to keep his mouth busy as well as working odd hours in the bike shop no doubt to take his mind off his habit. But in general, it was going rather well for him. So well, that when he stepped closer to you while taking you out for lunch about two weeks in, you found yourself flushed because of how good he smelled up close without the always lingering cigarette smoke mixed with his body scent.
‘What?’ he asked confused by your sudden stiffness, and you couldn’t think of any decent lie, so you decided to go with the partly truth, ‘Nothing, you just don’t smell like an ashtray anymore. It’s…different.’
He grinned and pulled you even closer against his chest making you sweat.
If he ever found out how much more attractive I thought he was now, he would never let me live it down.
It was frustrating. Even if you would never go back on your words because you genuinely wanted Shin to stop and not threaten his health like that, you still feared you would act recklessly if he kept up. There was only so much a young woman like you could endure when crushing on her childhood friend.
Once the actual month mark passed, Shin called you over to the shop to take you out for dinner like he usually did if he wasn’t eating with his family, ‘So how do I smell?’
You felt nervous walking closer to him even if he was only wearing his work clothes since currently it seemed no matter what he wore or set it had the same lovesick effect on you.
You still grinned though, ‘Like motor oil and sweat.’
‘Rude, but fair,’ he admitted, ‘I’ll shower real quick, so you don’t have to be embarrassed by me.’
‘I’m not,’ you mumbled and went to sit down until he returned.
‘I passed my one month,’ he said with a shit-eating smirk across his face, and you couldn’t help but roll your eyes, ‘Yes, yes, so what I’m paying for dinner?’
‘Nah,’ he assured you and walked you out before he locked the shop.
You bit your lip. You knew how much it cost him to stick to his word and quit. It wasn’t easy to stop when he was addicted as he was even if he remained his relaxed easy-going self most of the time.
‘Shin,’ you said and waited for him to look at you.
His dark eyes were calm and pretty that evening making it both a treat to look at them and extremely hard at the same time, ‘You did a really good job. I’m proud of you, alright? I know it wasn’t easy. You…you always find a way to impress me, and it means a lot to you…did this when I asked you to.’ All of it was true. You could count the number of times people did something this big for you because you needed it or asked them to on the fingers of your right hand. And most of those things were achieved by Shin anyway.
He always delivered on his words.
He watched you for a moment before his lips curved into a happy smile and his eyes softened making your knees go weak, ‘Thanks. I’m glad I managed. I could tell it bothered you quite a lot.’
You nodded, ‘It did. I would hate for you to get sick and the smell…well, I told you it was really awful.’
He stepped closer to you almost to the point that your chests were touching, ‘It’s much better now, huh?’
You felt your cheeks warming up again, ‘Uh-huh.’
His bright smile faded a bit, but only because it became somewhat softer, ‘Even my mouth?’
Involuntarily the innocent question caused your eyes to move to his lips. That was a bad decision because it immediately jumpstarted your heart and caused chaos inside your mind.
We’re really close, huh?
 ‘Well… sure?’ you said unsure about what was the question anymore all too focused on the shape and color of his mouth. You couldn’t help but think he had really pretty lips.
‘Here, have a taste,’ he said and suddenly you felt his warm palm against the back of your head pulling you closer.
Your eyes widened, and your palms pressed against his chest unclear whether you were planning to stop him or just have a place for them to settle.
Right before your lips would touch, you blurted out, ‘Shin?’
Everything stopped, but not in a good way, as the dark-haired man stepped away and hid his face away from your gaze, ‘Shit, sorry, I…I’m sorry. I thought it would be cool.’
You blinked surprised, as he started to scratch the back of his head, ‘Never mind, forget I did that. I’m…sorry.’
You snatched his hand and brought it away from his hair, ‘It was cool.’
Your eyes met, and your face caught on fire all over again, ‘Well…it was pretty cool, uh, but why?’
‘I like you,’ he blurted out obviously shocked he had as he tried to look away again.
The most beautiful flower started to bloom inside your belly, ‘You do?’
He nodded still not meeting your eyes, ‘You always looked so disgusted and annoyed because of the smoke, but when I stopped, you seemed more willing to have me close. I figured I would give it a shot. Pretty stupid, huh?’ he tried to pull his hand out of your hold, but you didn’t let him.
He finally glanced at you, and you tried to hold his gaze as best as you could, ‘Not as stupid as being into you even when you smelled like an ashtray.’
His dark eyes widened in surprise and immediately the familiar smile appeared across his face, ‘Really?’
You grinned less embarrassed than you thought you would be knowing he felt the same. The ridiculous wave of happiness washing over you, ‘Yes, I like you too, Shinichiro.’
He suddenly took his hand from your hold and cupped your face with both of his hands, ‘Then let me be cool just for once.’
‘I always think you’re cool,’ you confessed feeling too wired in the heat of the moment to deny it.
He smiled at you adoringly while still holding your face, ‘Really?’
You groaned at his eagerness and how silly it must have all made you look, ‘You’re embarrassing me.’
He grinned, ‘Good, I like it when your face is all red.’
‘Hey-’ before you could finish his lips were on yours. His mouth was soft and warm to the touch. Although you wouldn’t have expected it from someone who acts so relaxed and carefree most of the time, Shin’s lips were demanding forcing your mouth to yield to his and parting to take him deeper. Once you let him his tongue ever so slightly moved across your in an electrifying slide.
Daydreaming about your crush as often as you have, you knew you would like it regardless of if Shin was a good kisser or not but given the sensation, he sparked inside your belly that reached all the way up to the roots of your hair and fingers of your toes.
By the time, he finally broke the kiss earning himself a breathless moan that escaped your throat, you found your hands had once again found a place on his chest lightly touching him.
You blinked several times trying to catch up to what just happened while Shin offered you a grin. Instantly, you smiled back at him feeling far too happy for your own good.
His palms let go of your face in order to take hold of your waist barely touching them, but still causing you to shiver.
‘Say, what will you give me for another month without smoking?’
‘Idiot,’ you mumbled but continued to smile feeling far too pleased at that moment, ‘How about you wait and find out?’
His dark eyes and bright smile revealed his amusement and happiness before he once again pressed his lips against yours.
Title: It's You
Title: It's You
Pairing: Manjiro x Reader
Summary: You're saved from bullying by Mikey one day, and you can't shake the feeling as if you know him from another life (timeline) | Genre: Angst with a happy ending = hurt/comfort | Warning: Bullying, uncomfortable situations | Words: 4.6K
It was happening again.
Your stomach twisted in the worst way imaginable, and you felt like throwing up a bit in your mouth. It was so cruel and so confusing.
They’re talking about me. They’re laughing at me.
You weren’t certain what brought it, but over the course of the last couple of weeks, you could hear your classmates whispering among themselves and snickering all the while looking at your back.
You didn’t turn around to face them, but you could still picture them and their cruel smiles. You didn’t understand. Did you do something wrong? Why, would they act this way all of the sudden?
You came to live in Tokyo a couple of months ago, and at first, the kids in your class seemed nice enough. Some asked you to eat lunch with them and even spoke about walking home together or plans for the weekends, so what caused the shift?
The only thing, you could think of was that boy, the one who seemed to laugh the most at you. He seemed the nicest of them at the beginning, he waited for you in front of the school to walk to class with you and then even walked home with you. He asked you about your life before you moved, your interests, pets, family, and friends. He seemed to genuinely want to get to know you, but then, one day while walking to school, he asked if you would kiss him. You were confused. You didn’t really think about kissing him since you were certain, you only viewed him as a friend for now. Maybe after a while, you would genuinely like to go on a few dates with him and even kiss him afterward if the dates would turn out well, and you would feel like doing so, but you were definitely not ready to do so that day and not so out of the blue.
Did he like you? Was he just embarrassed and messed up asking you out?
Also, you couldn’t help but think, It’s not him.
‘I’m sorry,’ you said and bowed a bit, ‘You’re a dear friend to me, but I don’t feel that way yet,’ you said feeling guilty about it before you tried to put on a smile, ‘Maybe when we know each other for a little long-’
‘You might as well do it, though,’ he suddenly said, and the smile, you thought was so sincere and friendly a while ago seemed twisted and wrong now, ‘I will tell everyone you did it anyway.’
Your own smile immediately fell as his words sunk in. Did he really just say what you thought you heard, and did he really mean it?
He remained to wait for your answer, but you were too startled to give one, and you simply ran away without a single word. You never felt so scared and uncomfortable in your life.
At home, you spent hours before finally falling asleep dreading the next morning which mercilessly came all too quickly. You thought about telling your family, but you didn’t really know what to say or how to explain it. You felt like your stomach was carrying rocks that were so heavy they were pushing all the food and water back into your throat as if you were supposed to throw up.
You felt sick.
Your classmate didn’t wait for you that morning, and throughout most of the day, nothing much happened as you both seemed to be ignoring one another almost making you believe it could have been forgotten altogether.
Then the next day came, and slowly you noticed your classmates and kids outside of your class whispering and looking at you. It was nerve-wracking. You tried to ask what was going on, but they seemed to put on smiles and act all confused like they didn’t know what you mean. Could it be all in your head? But why did they stop calling you out to eat lunch with them? Why did they stop talking to you during breaks? Why did it seem that the only time someone looked at you was at your back right before they would snicker or snort at something that was said among themselves?
You thought about going to your classmate and demanding what he said about you, but you felt even more like throwing up at the thought of ever talking to him again. What did he say? Was it bad?
Worse than their laughter and secret gossiping were those looks.
Not those mocking cruel ones, even if those were bad in their own way, but those that seemed to sometimes follow you on your way home. You didn’t know why, but at times you would notice a boy or a group of them looking at you or following you leaving you to feel incredibly uneasy. Like they wanted to approach you. Like they wanted something from you causing panic and alarm to kick in and force you to speed up or look for an area with more people around.
It was hard to sleep when you noticed those looks. You felt like crying or running every time you caught their uncomfortable almost sickly gazes.
From an early age, you found groups of men to be scary for some reason even those you knew well always trying to be with someone and not alone around them.
You found out the next day, that knowing was worse than anything your innocent mind could imagine.
‘Everyone knows she does lewd stuff with older guys.’
‘I heard she tried to sell herself for seven-thousand yen.’
‘She even kissed a bunch of girls in her old school.’
Your stomach sank and tears rushed into your eyes as you felt a tremble take hold of your body. You wanted to believe they weren’t talking about you. How could they be talking about you when none of those disgusting things were true? But they said your name, and they seemed to be so sure about their words. So cruel with their laughter spreading those rumors as if they were facts as if they were true.
You wouldn’t have heard it, but you forgot your pencil case in your shoe locker and had to return to it.
You were crying before you even knew what was happening, and your shaky legs still dressed in your school shoes let you out of the school before you could even focus on what you were doing.
You just walked away from the building. Away from those nasty words. Away from those horrible gazes and mockery.
How…? How could someone be so cruel and make up such lies?
Your legs gave up somewhere outside the school, and out of the view of anyone else, you simply sank into the sidewalk and started to cry as hard as you could regardless of if someone heard you or not. You felt horribly dirty by their lies. It didn’t matter if they were just their malice and hurtful words, they left you to feel unclean, and you wished for nothing else than just to go home and tell your parents what happened, but how could you? What if they believed those words? If all your classmates and others were saying them, what if everyone else believed them too?
It felt like ages had passed, and you cried so hard you didn’t even notice someone stopped in front of you until you felt someone touch the top of your head, ‘Oi, what happened to you?’
You blinked your eyes open, but the tears made it impossible to see clearly who was talking to you. All you could make out were two blond figures in black.
‘Isn’t that the new girl?’ asked one of the voices to which the first one replied with a little uh-huh sound, ‘It is? I thought she was cute.’
You started to cry harder for some reason.
‘Always the charmer,’ commented the second one who sounded grumpier while the first one let out something like an offended puff of air before you felt the same hand from before gently pat the top of your head again.
Huh?
‘Come on, stop that wailing, when my sister wails like this it’s because of another one of her K-pop idols is leaving the band for a solo career,’ said the first voice still patting you, ‘Maybe you should get Emma, Kenchin. This is more her territory.’
‘Emma isn’t going to skip school,’ replied the second voice, and you recognized the name Emma since it was such an unusual one for a Japanese girl as the name of a girl from another class.
‘She would if you asked her,’ said the voice of the person who was patting her before letting out a small chuckle, ‘Now, now, no more of that. Women are weak and all but crying in front of the school never solved anything, right Kenchin?’
‘I’m sure she would have stopped sooner if you didn’t talk nonsense to her.’
‘Don’t be mean. You don’t have a cute little sister, but this is what good brothers do.’
It still took you a while, but strangely, hearing those two talk to each other all the while feeling someone pat your head like you were a puppy did help your sobs and tears ease enough to brush them with your sleeves and look at the two boys properly.
It was actually nice to be caressed like that.
‘Oh, she stopped,’ commented the tall blond one, you knew only as Ryuguji Ken before your eyes shifted to the other blond who turned out to be Sano Manjiro who continued to pat you a bit longer.
‘H-hello,’ you said weakly brushing your eyes some more trying to appear more presentable for some reason.
All the while watching as Sano offered you a calm lazy smile just as he did the one and only time, you actually came face to face with him while running to class.
‘Good morning,’ you found yourself saying for some reason when you were faced with the handsome blond boy with the darkest eyes as you almost crashed into him.
The moment he looked at you, something shifted across his face if only for a moment making him look very serious before he regained his bored persona again and offered you a lazy grin, ‘You still have plenty of time before class. Don’t stress about it too much, yeah?’
Without waiting for a reply, he simply left causing you to momentarily forget about class altogether and simply watch him walk away with this unshakable feeling of a deja vu.
Right now, you could feel this sensation right under your skin, but it was very weak as you were still too caught up on what happened to you in school.
You didn’t know the boys all that well since from the two months you were in school, they spend maybe half or less in classes. You knew there were rumors they were a part of some gang, Sano was the leader of, but for all, you knew it might have been just something people said like those things they said about you.
You hiccupped as you felt like crying again only to be harshly snapped at, ‘No! Stop that! You just finished doing that, if you cry more everyone is going to think you’re a pathetic crybaby!’ It might have been scary to be told such things if Sano didn’t appear looking more like a little child than a powerful gang leader when he said it.
You swallowed down the bump once again forming inside your throat and nodded knowing he meant well even if his attitude wasn’t the best, ‘S-sorry.’
He did approach you and made you feel better even if he didn’t have to.
He seemed satisfied with this result as he grinned at you and then his friend, ‘See, Kenchin. I told you I knew what I was doing. Well, that’s that. Later.’
‘W-wait a moment please,’ you said immediately shocked that you had, but it seemed it was too late because both of the boys turned and looked back at you. It was bizarre, but since the last couple of weeks, they seemed to be the first ones who spoke to you somewhat ordinarily and not like they were hiding nasty rumors from you or like they were faking niceness. Not to mention, you couldn’t shake the feeling around Sano for some reason wishing to see him for just a bit longer.
‘Yes?’ asked the taller one since the shorter one already looked like he was a bit bored with you, ‘People sometimes said mean things about you behind your backs.’
You looked away wondering if that meant you too since you heard those things and never stood up for them. It suddenly made you feel bad, ‘H-how do you deal with it?’
‘We kick their ass,’ said Sano causing your head to drop and shoulders to slump. Given what you heard you shouldn’t be so surprised, ‘Right, never mind. Thank you and sorry for keeping you.’
You remained sitting on the sidewalk. You already missed the first period and had no idea what you would tell your parents or homeroom teacher. You also couldn’t imagine yourself entering the school again knowing all those horrible things they said about you.
What am I going to do now?
‘Hey, Mikey, you’re coming or what?’ you heard Ryuguji asked realized they didn’t leave, and Sano was still looking down at you.
You couldn’t really describe this look, but it was different, not just from those you had gotten since the rumors must have started, but also different from any other look you ever received from anyone. You wondered what was going through his mind, and if he also felt a bit strange around you which was the reason why he stopped and went to comfort you in the first place.
‘Sure,’ said Sano suddenly breaking your train of thought, and then suddenly pulled down his black jacket the one he seemed to also wear in class regardless of what was the assigned uniform.
You blinked confused, and you could see his friend didn’t understand what he was doing either before you felt the heavy material of the jacket fall over your shoulders.
It was quite heavier than the material of your school uniform even if it didn’t properly fit your body type, but it was surprisingly warm and-
This smells so familiar. What is that?
It was hardly cold outside, but for some reason, the moment to fabric touched your body, you felt infinite times warmer not even realizing you were cold in the first place all the while wondering what was the wonderful smell that entered your senses.
‘No one will dare say anything to you if you wear this. I will come to find you at the end of the day to get it back,’ said Sano and offered you another lazy-looking grin, ‘Don’t lose it, or I will kick your ass, girl or not, got it?’
You could only nod feeling almost intoxicated by the scent, gesture, and the feeling of dĂŠjĂ  vu it all seemed to cause you.
You barely got out a thank you before the short blond started to run leaving you behind.
You shared a bit look with Ryuguji who waved and nodded at you before he followed his friend leaving you sitting on the sidewalk with a heavy jacket on top of your shoulders.
You returned to the school for the second class, and as Sano predicted no one dared to say anything to you. You could see they were still staring probably more than ever but instead of nasty or mocking looks they now seemed properly scared shutting up the moment you met their eyes and swiftly looking away.
It might as well be a magical jacket because at least for today it gave you the power to be left alone in peace. It seemed priceless.
Every once in a while, you found yourself pushing a hand into a pocket or brushing the material as if to chase some sort of memory you didn’t have.
Could it be Sano and I met before? You wondered curiously. You weren’t in Tokyo that long and saw him in passing just two times actually exchanging some words, but it almost felt like you knew him longer.
It got a bit into your head and made you busy and distracted enough to forget about your previous worried. Not to mention feel properly safe for the first time in what felt like forever.
When Sano and Ryuguji showed up at the end of the class, you couldn’t help but bow to them in gratitude, ‘Thank you so much. You really helped me out more than you know.’
Just as you were planning to straighten up, you felt Sano snatch the side of your uniform and pull you up to look at him. You would have been afraid given his reputation and everything that happened to you so far, but surprisingly such a feeling never came as you met his face taking it in.
His face carried a lazy-looking smile, and although his eyes were the darkest you ever saw they carried a strange light or hope inside them that stole your breath away for some reason and left this strange feeling in the back of your mind.
This was the first time you properly saw him up close without tears, and you couldn’t help but think he wasn’t just kind in his own harsh way, but also very handsome.
‘So pretty,’ he said soundly very pleased, and grinned, ‘No more crying, alright?’
You felt your face grow hot over him smiling at you like and calling you pretty all the while your heart pounded all too loud and fast, ‘I’ll try.’
He laughed upon hearing that seemingly delighted which caused you to feel a wave of fondness for this strange boy wash over you, ‘Okay, do your best. I really rather see you smiling and happy. It feels better when I see you like that instead of sad and crying,’ he confessed, and your mouth opened and closed as your mind tried to come up with something to say because the way he spoke it sounded just all too real, and you couldn’t help but wonder why and what it all meant, and if he felt it too.
 But before you could embarrass yourself or get some answers, you heard a commotion coming from behind and found Ryuguji kicking your classmate who ended up on the ground bowing in front of you with his whole body, ‘I asked around,’ said the tall blond, ‘Everyone said this guy started the rumors.’
It wasn’t a surprise. You figured as much as he was the boy who asked you to kiss him not so long ago.
‘Please, I’m sorry. I didn’t know she was with Toman. I swear!’ begged the boy still not the ground not daring to stand up.
Ryuguji stepped on his back while Sano went to squat down in front of him, ‘So if she was any other girl, it would have been alright? I have a little sister, you know? If someone was to say shit about her like that, I would personally kill every and each one of them.’
‘Please,’ begged the boy now crying still not daring to raise his head.
You noticed a lot of people from your school gathered around now watching the scene with worry and fascination while the boy carried on his pleas and wailing, ‘I’m sorry. I swear I’ll never do this again! I swear! I’m sorry I started the rumors. I’m sorry I tried to force her to kiss me!’
Silence fell over the scene as no one said anything for a while after those words.
‘You tried to force her to kiss you?’ asked Sano finally, but you almost wished he didn’t because he sounded incredibly cold right before he reached out and snatched the guy’s hair pulling his head up.
That was when it happens.
Somewhere in the back of your mind, you couldn’t help but hear Sano’s voice as if he spoke right now.
Nothing scares me more than when the impulse takes over. Especially when you’re around, y/n-chan, his voice as clear as day asked, and your heart skipped a beat at how familiar and intimate it sounded as if he knew you. As if you were friends. As if you were close.
A cold chill ran down your body and before you could stop yourself and rethink your palms reached out and found a place on Sano’s shoulders, ‘He’s not worth it, Mikey-kun.’
You didn’t know why you called him that. You heard his friend call him that, but it wasn’t like you were friends despite his kindness. You also didn’t know why it felt so natural to call him that.
The death grip on your classmate’s hair loses, but you barely noticed as the moment the blond, you were holding onto, slightly turn his head to you, you saw the light return into his dark eyes.
You held your breath as a small smile appeared once again across his handsome face extinguishing the feeling of darkness and cold that came over you, ‘I don’t want you to get in trouble because of me.’
‘You’re still too forgiving and sweet for your own good, huh?’ he asked his dark eyes sparkling with a sudden fondness that felt like you didn’t deserve it for some reason, ‘I’m glad.’
Mikey let go of the boy who started to cry harder on the ground and stood up as you let go of his body so he could properly face you, ‘Let’s get you home. I don’t think anyone will give you a hard time anymore, but if they do, tell me, alright?’
Once again, you felt as if this wasn’t the first time, he said this to you, and you couldn’t help but ask, ‘Have we met before?’
He looked at you again as the taller blond pulled your classmate from the ground, but you were still too focused on the blond boy in front of you to pay attention to all that. It was as if nothing else matter than to look at his face and see him so calm and content.
‘So you noticed too, huh?’ he asked something flashing behind his dark eyes, ‘It’s just this feeling like you’re someone important to me even if I don’t really know you. Maybe it’s love,’ he chuckled looking really happy as your heart continued to beat faster and louder again.
Love, you thought wondering how bizarre to hear someone so young as him speak so lightly about it.
‘ Or maybe it’s fate,’ he shrugged his shoulders easing up the tension, but only slightly, ‘It doesn’t really matter though. Let’s just take you home and see what happens, yeah?’
You blinked at his nonchalant behavior, but you couldn’t really argue with him. You couldn’t explain the familiarity between you too, and it didn’t seem like that was much to do about it anyway.
For now, you accepted his offer to take you home with Draken, and Mikey’s younger sister, Emma trying to convince yourself that it was not a big deal.
But when your hands slipped around his middle to hold onto him during the ride, you couldn’t help but smile as a wave of joy filled your insides. Something which Mikey had to share with you because you noticed he was smiling with a certain sweetness; you didn’t before.
I wonder if we did this before. In a past life or something.
Whether you believed in such things or not, you couldn’t help but admit you felt very much connected to the blond boy as he took you home and promised to come to get you tomorrow morning as well.
‘You don’t have to,’ you tried to argue since you were certain, he didn’t often come to school, and even if you didn’t approve, you felt you might have already bothered him enough for today, but he just offered you a lazy shrugged and told you to be ready at a certain time, ‘I promise to come for you. Do you believe me?’ the way he asked, you couldn’t shake a feeling he already asked this of you once. You couldn’t tell what happened with that promise back then, but at least for now you felt you could offer him another smile and nod, ‘I believe you, Mikey-kun.’
The light inside his dark eyes made them exceptionally warm as he reached for your hand, and you without a single doubt met him halfway so he could take it all the while oblivious that Draken and Emma were watching you from his bike not too far away while sharing confused looks.
His hand was rough and strong, but all you felt was warmth and safety as his thumb brushed against your knuckles, ‘Promise me, I’ll see you tomorrow,’ he said looking into your eyes and even if he didn’t say anything else, you could feel it was important so once again you nodded, ‘I promise you’ll see me tomorrow, Mikey-kun. I’ll be waiting right here.’
You squeezed his hand before he finally let you go and left, and just like last time, you watched him go, but instead of sadness or longing, you only felt anticipation and excitement that you would see him tomorrow again.
You went into your home and about your day, and the next day, you dutifully took your place right where you parted with the blond boy, whose connection to you still couldn’t figure out, but at the same time didn’t mind all that much.
When Mikey parked by, both of you greeted each other with overly happy smiles before you took your place behind him once again feeling like it was the place you should have been all along, ‘Let’s do this ever day,’ he said as he put his hands over yours that were around him, ‘Let me pick you from and to school every day. Promise me?’
‘I promise,’ you breathed against his cheek all too eagerly as you couldn’t even imagine ever refusing this to him when it made you feel so good inside.
You could see he was grinning the whole ride looking just as happy as you felt.
Mikey and Draken didn’t go to school that day either. They just dropped you and Emma off watching you get inside while you couldn’t shake the warm and content feeling of knowing he would come to pick you up after school too.
It feels right. It feels like it’s him, you thought fondly knowing it was true deep in your gut, heart and mind. You just knew. It was him. Whoever, he was and expected him to be it was him, Sano ‘Mikey’ Manjiro.
In school, you avoided the people who made fun of you and they did the same for you fearful of retaliation from the Toman as Emma, who you decided to befriend and spend more time with, explained to you.
‘Hey, did you fall in love with my brother? You two act like you’re dating and look so happy all the time,’ said the blond girl, and even if you shouldn’t have you couldn’t help but smile a bit before admitting without much embarrassment or doubt, ‘You know, I don’t think so. I think I’ve already loved him before,’ you giggled at how silly it sounded still feeling the comforting warm inside, ‘I just hadn’t met him until now.’
Emma gave you an odd look, and for a moment you simply thought you were weird before she grimaced and chuckled, ‘Mikey told me the exact same thing. I guess that means you’re meant to be, huh?’
Yeah, I guess it does.
A.N: Thank you for taking the time to read this. It was a bit of a self-request that I was working on for a while. English is not my first language, so I apologize if this was confusing or there were many errors and mistakes. I hope you liked it. Have a nice day and stay safe 😊
ran haitani fluff (and sometimes sad, and also very out of character) headcanons
────────。゚•┈୨♡୧┈• 。゚────────
he absolutely loves when you play with his hair or braid it (when he has long hair)
he especially loves it when his head is in your lap and you stroke through his hair. this man fucking melts when you do that
if you have adhd, or major troubles with concentrating your attention on anything, he'll sit himself right next to you to let you play with his hair so it's easier for you to focus on your stuff
will shower you in gifts
he will tie you close to himself and then push you away repeatedly for various reasons in the beginning of your relationships because he's scared you would leave him one day
but he really loves you
always seeks confirmation he's one and only for you, even if most of the times it doesn't sound serious but more like teasing
will definitely call you different pet names like princess/prince, babygirl/babyboy, baby, darling and anything else sweet
but he also likes to tease you a lot (with pet names like shortie, if he's taller than you and stuff like that)
his love language absolutely is a gift giving. but affectionate touches and words are ones of them as well
he loooves holding hands, kissing you and showing his affection in public
but he won't be doing that if you're not comfortable with it
because he's respectful of your personal borders (and he actually will be just a big softie for you)
he'll absolutely give you morning wake up kisses and call you a sleeping beauty, you can't change my mind
but he likes when you do that for him as well
will absolutely teach you fighting and will get you every possible self-defense thing, because he's scared one day you'll need his help but he wouldn't be near to protect you
MY BONTEN MEN RANDOM HEADCANONS
MIKEY: is cold-hearted and doesn't care for people who can't bring him any benefit. his love for sweet food is his old wish to have sweet good life and him knowing that it all shattered because of him.
RAN: considering he wanted to become an idol, I headcanon he loves singing in the shower, imagining the shower head to be a microphone. (Rindou always records his singing and sends to bonten chat, which makes Ran super angry).
RINDOU: he used to be worried by being overshadowed by his brother, but now he's matured and knows his own worth (just as he learnt to be proud of victories of both of them)
KOKO: I believe he's a perfectionist. everything has to be ideal. all the documents, all the bills, everything has to be perfectly in order. even his home he usually keeps clean and without any little mess.
KAKUCHO: I think he still is insecure about his scar. I think even when he had Izana, he was really insecure about it which led him to be careful around people (especially new people). he doesn't like when people stare at his scar especially with pity.
SANZU: I feel like in the past he was pretty insecure about his scars, and we all know how cruel kids can be (even if you can beat them down (which he probably did and everyone labeled him as a freak after that)), and that might have led to how he turned out to be in bonten timeline. I also headcanon he loves weapons and probably has a big collection of different ones (though he still holds dearly to himself his katana).
MOCHI: I believe he's a very grounded person. never gets lost in his dreams, but is content with what real life can bring him. but sometimes he wonders, what might happen if he ever leaves bonten (and let's be honest, he doesn't want to actually find out what Mikey (or Sanzu) can and will do to him)
TAKEOMI: i think he's deeply stuck in his past when he failed to protect Sanzu and failed to be a good brother for both him and Senju. I believe he has many regrets and stays with bonten kind of because of Sanzu (and Mikey too)
BONTEN MEN and what element their love is like
────────。゚•┈୨♡୧┈• 。゚────────
MIKEY: Mikey's love is like air. always changing. sometimes it's light and soft and sometimes it's strong, passionate, and even dark at times. but just like the strong hurricane, these times die as well, leaving calm little wind, flowing around your love
RAN: Ran's love is fire. bright and passionate, he'll have no hard time showing you his affection in the most suggestive ways. his love burns brightly just as he does himself, shining with his light just for you
RINDOU: while Ran's love is fire, Rindou's is water. ever-changing and fluid, he's soft yet passionate in the most unpredictable ways. sometimes it turns into a dark storm when you're facing arguments, but be patient and the troubled waters will calm down
SANZU: Sanzu's love is air. he might seem like he has wind in his head, but he's actually very careful with his love. no one ever dares to hurt his significant other because if they do, he'll make sure they regret it. his love is like a hurricane at times — mesmerizing yet dangerous. be careful, it might hurt you, but he always regrets it when the winds calm down. he treats his significant other as the Queen meanwhile Mikey is his one and true King, so he devotes himself only to you two
KOKO: Koko's love is earth. he's very grounded and prefera stability, that's why your relationships are perfect in each and every way. you always have enough of his affection and you rarely face any big arguments, calmly talking everything over even before they start
KAKUCHO: Kakucho's love is fire. he's very passionate towards his significant other and never hesitates to tell you or show you how much he loves you. his fire burns bright but it burns to make you feel warm and comfortable, and to never hurt you, so don't be scared if he ever gets too passionate towards you
MOCHI: Mochi's love is earth. calm and reserved, he treats his significant other as his equal, that's why your relationships are just like that — soft and sweet. but sometimes Earth faces earthquakes, but don't be scared, they will never hurt you. at least, never physically and absolutely never intentionally
TAKEOMI: Takeomi's love is water. fluid but everything is reserved and calm, just as rivers that rarely face huge storms. his love is passionate, yet it's hidden somewhere inside and he rarely shows all the extents of it. but he still loves you a lot and holds dearly to himself
Hello!
If you're taking requests can you do a doctor reader with bonten Mikey? Like maybe they used to be close and Mikey got injured and has no where else to go. Since he's a wanted gang leader and all lol.
Thanks and have a nice day!! :)))
Hi there! 💙💛
I hope this was close to what you had in mind 😊 It was hard to write this without angst, but I tried to turn it to fluff by the bonus ending. I'm sorry if you were looking for something else ☹
Thank you for your request, and Enjoy!
Hello!
Title: The Promise
Pairing: Manjiro x Reader
Summary: You’re a doctor who finds your former friend, bonten Mikey, injured inside your apartment one day. | Genre: Angst/Fluff | Warning: Angsty because it’s bonten Mikey, but there is a happy ending! Mention of blood | Words: 3.4K
‘Excuse me, can I have this dance?’
You pushed your body not to flinch this time, and offered the stranger, a small smile before you politely decline, ‘I’m sorry, but my boyfriend is very jealous.’ On the third time, the lie fell off your lips almost professionally, and you put on a stoic face as you watched the man leave your table unable to see if he was too disappointed by your rejection or not.
It was the third time, that you were approached for a dance, but then again, if you didn’t want to be asked out by strangers, you shouldn’t have come to a wedding.
‘You know,’ you heard by your side, ‘it was funny the first two times when you shot those poor bastards down, but now it’s simply sad.’
You turned your head to look at Draken who was giving you that calm smile that never really reached his eyes anymore. You simply shrugged your shoulders not bothering with a fake smile this time at all. He would probably be able to tell anyway too. You knew each other far too long after all, meeting when you were just naïve children who couldn’t imagine what the future would bring.
‘I had night shifts all week, please, let me enjoy some sitting around,’ you said in a friendly joking manner before you looked over at the happy couple.
Pah-chin looked so serious it was laughable really, but every now and then when he looked over to his pretty bride, his whole being seemed to have softened like there was nothing in the world that could bring him down or cause him anguish. It felt good to see him happy. How could it not? He was your friend, and you cheered him on and came to support him and his wife on this special day, but somewhere deep down under the wave of happiness over someone else’s fortune, you couldn’t help, but feel envy over how lucky someone else could be, but not you.
Hours went by, and you figured you spend enough time around to look sociable and happy enough for your friends not to worry about you. You needed to go, though. You would be working tomorrow a nightshift again, and although the dress and heels were beautiful, they weren’t very comfortable.
‘Wait,’ said Draken suddenly stopping you as you put on your jacket and snatched your purse, ‘I know it’s a lot to ask, but if Takemitchy asks,’ his eyes never left yours, and if nothing else, you couldn’t help but feel admiration toward the man even after all these years because of it, ‘tell him…Mikey owns a chain of restaurants and works a lot overseas. It’s what Chifuyu and I had told him tonight when he asked,’ he explained giving you somehow a sympathetic look by the end of his words because it seemed not even the great Draken could hurt someone that badly.
Your eyes stayed on his for a moment taking what he asked of you in before they moved to the mentioned dark-haired man and his lovely fiancé, Hina. They were on the dancefloor now, and even if it was clear Takemitchy couldn’t dance one bit, they were still smiling and laughing making it obvious to everyone with eyes how much they loved one another and couldn’t help to finally get married.
A small smile and some fondness for their love awoken inside your empty heart before you shook your head and chuckled.
‘Owner of a chain of restaurants,’ you said the mockery clear from your voice as you giggled, ‘No,’ you thought about the boy who you haven’t seen in almost a decade with blond hair and empty eyes, but with a smile that always made you feel almost better no matter the situation if that smile was directed at you.
‘You should have said he became a professional motorcycle racer,’ you said and offered one of your oldest friends a smile, ‘That’s what I imagine him doing whenever I wonder where he could be.’
Draken’s smile didn’t reach his eyes again, but you appreciated it all the same as you finally took your leave waving goodbyes at everyone you caught on your way out, but not trying too hard to actually talk to anyone.
It was a joyful night, you were so happy to see everyone, and know they were doing so well, but you couldn’t help and collapse against your elevator’s wall as you were finally inside it and away from everyone in the world.
You covered your face not caring if you ruined your makeup or on quietly crying without letting out a single tear or sound until you reached your floor and heard the familiar sound of the elevator stopping.
Taking a deep breath, you stepped outside not wanting to accidentally run into a neighbor or anyone who would talk to you at that moment. You only wished for solitude in the privacy of your home, so you could take off your shoes, tear your dress off and slide into your bed for those remaining hours before you had to put on your best smile and go deal with your patients.
Jiro, was this how it feels for you?
The emptiness? The loneliness?
You felt too numb at that moment to properly care, but later, you would find it heartbreaking and the circle would repeat thinking that this was what your former friend, the only one missing from the wedding, the only one who you weren’t sure was even still alive or not, had to be going through.
Those final steps into your apartment were the worse, but once you were there, you let out a deep sigh only to have your heart stop and your entire body freeze.
It wasn’t locked…
Your hand instinctively reached out for the handle even before your mind could supply you with all the possibilities of why, your door could have been left unlocked only to hear a weak almost whisper-like, ‘…fancy tonight…did you have fun?’
You spun around immediately catching the dark eyes only visible due to the light coming from the outside city lights.
Your throat felt impossibly dry, and your heartbeat started to beat again as you breathed out a quiet, ‘Jiro.’
There he was sitting on the floor of your living room under your windows pressed against the wall the man, your former close friend, who you haven’t seen for over a decade.
‘Jiro,’ he repeated and closed his eyes a small chuckle escaping his mouth. It was almost like he was falling asleep when he said, ‘No one ever dared to call me that but you.’
You knew something was wrong and tossing your shoes off your feet you rushed toward the living room turning on the lights.
Your eyes widened in horror as you saw the small pool of blood by his side and a very visible cut and open flesh on his clothes, ‘Jiro!’
Your hands moved on instinct taking out your phone from your purse and checking his pulse. It wasn’t as weak as you feared, but that was quite a lot of blood.
‘Don’t call the ambulance,’ he spoke suddenly ask he must have heard the loud sound of an outgoing call from your phone. He sounded so exhausted and weak, it made your gaps and then grit your teeth wondering how long he was here like this and what happened, but at the same time, you didn’t allow this to force you to lose your focus.
‘You’re seriously hurt,’ you argued, but then as if he suddenly possessed all the power in the world, Mikey snatched your wrist and pulled the phone away enough for you to look at his face, ‘I had worse injuries than this.’
‘That’s a horrible thing to say,’ you whispered trying to sound scolding, but it came out too rushed and desperate for that.
He could have snatched your phone and ended the call himself, but instead, he held onto you and watched as you pressed the screen and put the phone away only to lean closer to him, ‘You will do as I say no buts or excuses, got it?’
‘Alright,’ he said, and an almost playful smirk crossed his lips making his exhausted face seem almost peaceful, ‘You were always bossy.’
‘Not true,’ you said and pulled off his jacket and lifted his shirt, ‘It’s deep.’
‘I’ll be fine.’
‘No talking,’ you commented and to your surprise, he only offered you a small curt nod instead of talking back as you were used to from him.
You were fast and precise taking all your medical knowledge to good use and using everything you could find inside your apartment to clean the knife wound and wrap up his side noticing with distaste how unwell he was. Mikey used to be a delinquent and leader of Toman, he constantly fought and despite his short height, he was very well-build causing your past young self to often blush when you caught glimpse of his naked torso, now, however, despite still having muscles and supposedly strength, he seemed weaker, skinnier, unfed.
‘You’re pretty. That’s a good color on you,’ he commented your choice of dress for the wedding after you finished and started to help him up to carry him to your futon to rest.
You smiled and chuckled, but there was no humor behind it just hysteria at the situation, ‘Thanks. Matsuya helped me.’
‘You’re still close?’ he asked but let out a deep exhale which must have been his equivalent of a hiss as you helped him back down, ‘That’s good. I’m glad you’re not alone.’
You frowned looking down at him as he laid on your futon, ‘Jiro, where were you? Everyone looked. We all looked for you and tried to reach you. Grandpa Sano…,’ your voice broke a bit, ‘He was sick and…and-’
‘I know,’ he said so you wouldn’t have to say it out loud, but it still almost caused you to start crying.
That was when he opened his dark eyes at you again and reached his hand out to touch your cheek. His touch was almost feather-like as if he feared if he applied more pressure he would break you, and with how fragile your heart felt in that moment, it might as well have.
He gently stroked your skin all the while looking at you with such a dead look behind his eyes, you felt heartbroken all over again. You never thought that Mikey would look at you of all the people in such a way, but it seemed now, it couldn’t be helped, and this was the only way he could look at the world around him. You included.
You swallowed the lump that started to form inside your throat refusing to start crying in front of him.
‘Stop that, I hate that,’ he would say and pat the top of your head when you were kids, and you ran over to his house, their family’s dojo, to run away from your own, ‘I hate when your eyes are full of those stupid tears. Tears are for the weak! You’re not weak! You’ll be a Sano one day, and we aren’t weak!’ he said partly annoyed, but at the same time never leaving you alone always stating with how often you were around you were a part of the family and that one day you really would become a Sano. You took it as a joke at first, as a child, thinking he meant his grandpa would adopt you too and you would be an adopted sister to the others, like Izana was, but then as you grew older coming to your teenage years, you couldn’t help but blush wondering if it couldn’t mean Mikey would one day marry you.
‘You arranged his funeral,’ he spoke suddenly bringing you back to the present and his empty eyes and hollow smile, ‘You were always good to us. All of us,’ he said in a quiet voice.
‘Jiro, where were you?’ you asked again desperately, ‘Why…why did you leave? Why did you come back now?’
‘I needed a doctor,’ he started, ‘I heard that’s what you do when you get stabbed and are bleeding,’ it was such a poor attempt at a joke, but you still laughed because it all felt so surreal.
His thumb continued to stroke your face as he looked up at you from his position on the futon. He seemed so vulnerable now unlike the Invincible Mikey who always smiled and beat up everyone in his way, ‘I didn’t know where else to go.’
His dark eyes closed, and he whispered as if it was a secret, ‘I didn’t want to go anywhere else.’
You sighed and took his hand off your face in order to hold it between your palms as you continued to watch him. He looked so different, almost like a silver-haired imposter that knew everything about you and your shared past, ‘I hope you don’t plan on dying on me the first time you finally came to visit me.’
He let out a deep breath, ‘No.’
You closed your eyes painfully understanding without him having to say this. He wouldn’t give you answers, and he wouldn’t come again, ‘You promised that I would be a Sano one day. But everyone’s gone, and you…,’ you shook your head and took a deep breath to calm yourself a bit, ‘Please don’t leave me again. I hate to be alone like this…’
He didn’t reply and based on the even raising and falling of your chest, you knew, he had fallen asleep.
You grimaced and shook your head at your foolishness, at your own selfishness, it was twelve years, and you needed to move on. But how could you when your past was so entwined around one another?
You didn’t have the energy to feel angry with yourself or Mikey at that moment. You were too exhausted even before you came home, and now that the adrenaline left your body, knowing Mikey wasn’t in life danger, and watching him sleep so peacefully almost like no harm, no demons, no sorrows could reach him, you just felt tired beyond words to describe.
You let go of his hand and went to turn on all the lights and lock your doors before you returned and laid down beside him all the while wearing the fancy dress.
You snuggled against his side making sure to avoid his wound. His scent and presence didn’t change within the years you spent apart, and when you closed your eyes, you could almost feel like you were young again laying down next to him in the hot summer on the floor complaining about the heat.
‘It doesn’t matter if you never make a Sano out of me. Just, stay safe, Jiro, please,’ you whispered before you allowed sleep to take you too while absorbing this moment into your memory and heart forever knowing that when you will wake up, he would be gone again.
As you slept you dreamed, he watched you and stroke your hair and face every once in a while, ‘I was at your graduation. You didn’t see me, but I wanted you to have someone from the Sano family to be there for you. It seemed fitting given that you should have always belonged to it.’
I knew you were there, you thought or said inside your dream, but you weren’t sure.
‘I don’t sleep much, but whenever nightmares give me a break, I dream about our happy times with Shinichiro and Emma and even Izana. We’re sitting in front of the dojo eating watermelon and teasing Shin or Emma because of her crush on Kenchin. It’s almost like I’m there again,’ he took a piece of your hair and rolled it around his index finger his eyes closing as he smiled, ‘Do you ever dream about those times? Do they make you happy or sad when you wake up?’
Both.
Your eyes opened up for a moment just as Mikey leaned toward you and pressed a soft kiss against your cheek. It was chaste, yet you couldn’t help yourself, but grab onto his arm to try and stop him, ‘Don’t go yet.’
His hollow smile and dead eyes were impossible to see in the darkness before the sunrise, ‘Did we ever tell you about Takemitchy time leaping?’
Your eyes blinked, shook your head confused about what he meant leaving Mikey to continue, ‘It’s not important to explain, but I hope that there’s a future where I made you a Sano like I promised I would. I hope in that future we’re all together and happy, you know? Especially you.’
‘Then don’t go,’ you said as unfair as it was to do so.
For a moment, pain rushed through the darkness inside his irises, and you immediately regretted being the cause of it.
Mikey didn’t give you time to apologize though as he learned toward you again and pressed another chaste kiss, this time, to your forehead making you close your eyes and imprint it into your memory as well.
‘Forget about me, and be happy,’ he said breaking your heart all over again, the pain almost too excruciating to withstand for a single person such as yourself.
He stood up, and while you remained frozen in your own agony, he left your apartment and life once again.
I can’t. Not without you
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Bonus (Final timeline):

You rushed out of the hospital putting on your heels while you walked causing the dark-haired man waiting on you on his motorcycle to openly and with all the audacity, you hated and loved about his laugh, ‘My, my, what’s the hurry, pretty Doctor?’

‘How about a little help?’ you asked and handed Mikey your purse.

He took it and grinned while you put a jacket over your shoulders covering the nice dress you had on.

‘Come here,’ said your boyfriend, and before you could protest, he snatched the back of your head and brought you to his face sealing your lips with his own in a deep kiss that caused warm to enter your body no matter how many times you kissed as if it was the first time all over again.

You sighed allowing yourself a few seconds of the sweet blissfulness before you pushed against his chest, ‘That’s enough. Emma will kill you if you mess up my makeup before the ceremony.’

‘So? I can fight,’ said Mikey with confidence and tried to lean closer only for you to stop him once more, ‘So can Draken, and he’s already on edge with Emma being pregnant. So don’t give him more headaches. He’s not your babysitter anymore,’ you reminded him and took your purse and the spare helmet in order to put it on your head. You didn’t really have much time to do anything special about your hair since you didn’t take a day off, but you hoped Emma would find it in her heart to forgive you.

‘That’s true, you took that job from him when you kissed me because you got jealous over those girls giving me chocolate on valentine’s day,’ he said grinning back at you as you rolled your eyes, ‘I didn’t hear you complaining back then?’

‘I wasn’t, and I wouldn’t mind another kiss now,’ he tried to get to your face again, but you pushed him back to the front of the bike, ‘We can’t be late. It’s Hina and Takemitchy’s wedding.’

He pouted for a bit but still brought the engine to life and waited for you to put your hands around him.

As you did, your fingers momentarily caught the small square object inside the breast pocket of his jacket.

Is that a box?

Your heart speeded up and a smile pushed against your lips before you could stop yourself. Ever since you were kids, he always told you he would make a Sano out of you one day, and when he told you, you were his girlfriend after you kissed him, that promise took a whole new meaning, making your already full heart double in size whenever he mentioned it again.

No way, Jiro wouldn’t upstage Takemitchy like that, right?

You leaned forward and pressed a soft kiss against the side of his face that you could reach causing the dark-haired man to look back at you and smiled, ‘I knew you couldn’t resist.’

You giggled at his confidence and reminded him to go feeling nothing but contentment and bliss inside your whole body. Whether Jiro would have a question for you today or not, you knew for a very long time now, what the answer would be, so you pressed closer against him and closed your eyes enjoying the ride.

Koniec

A.N: I couldn’t leave this to be angsty till the end, so I gave it a bonus happy ending from the happy timeline. Thank you for reading. I hope you and your loved ones are alright. Have a nice day 😊

BONTEN MEN and LOVE headcanons

(sad in Mikey's and Takeomi's, pretty dark in Sanzu's)

MIKEY: he's afraid of falling in love. afraid he's gonna hurt the most precious person to him so he shuts himself behind many walls and doors, on a thousand locks, hiding himself from everyone. he doesn't believe he's able to fall in love anymore and even if he is, he'll always be afraid of hurting them.

RAN: believes in "love yourself, only then anyone will love you". he probably claims he doesn't believe in love at first sight, but actually that might be exactly the way he'd fall in love. he might tight his significant other close and then let go and then it's gonna be like that over and over again, just because he's never actually fallen in love and he doesn't know how to make it right.

RINDOU: is very self-conscious because of his brother. if he ever falls in love, he'll be always afraid you'd leave him for Ran (pls, tell him you'll never do so (but only tell the truth, because Rindou hates being lied to and can always tell when someone is lying to him)).

KOKO: doesn't think he can fall in love ever again. even if he let go of Akane, he's just not ready to fall in love with anyone else, therefore he practically gets married to his job, working as much as he can. but if he falls in love ever again, it's gonna last long and he'll be very attentive towards his significant other and their interests.

KAKUCHO: doesn't believe anyone can fall in love with him, though at the same time is eager to be loved. once someone says they love him, he'll hold them dearly (but he will let them go, if their significant other ever tells them their feelings towards him have changed).

SANZU: doesn't believe in love. his life led him to believing only his king deserves his dedication and that everything else isn't worth his attention. he's probably gonna look like at a bug at anyone who ever mentions they like him, because they aren't his king, therefore he doesn't need to give his admiration to them. (he'll probably end up being the most toxic boyfriend out of all, sometimes sweet and caring, and sometimes a mental abuser)

MOCHI: if he ever falls in love, he's gonna treat his significant other as an equal to him. he's never gonna raise a fist on them, treating them as the most precious person in the whole world. he's trustworthy in every single aspect.

TAKEOMI: is afraid of falling in love and being a bad dad. he's always haunted by the reminder of how bad of an older brother he was, that's why he's afraid of being a bad dad, that's why he's afraid of falling in love. that's why he promises himself to not fall in love ever (just as Mikey does).

During the night, knowing Ran's heavy sleep, you and Rindou go to the kitchen to make snacks, being careful not to wake him up, you spend a lot of time in the kitchen eating and talking. Rindou always listens carefully to what you have to say, he is really interested in the subjects you like, in addition, he usually talks about how his and Ran's day was, because you don't accompany them when they are with you. other gang members.

Ran loves doing different hairstyles in your hair and the three of you often wear similar hairstyles and clothes, in addition, Ran likes to buy clothes for you, sometimes the three of you go to expensive stores and he lets you choose whatever you want, Rindou also likes to fix your hair, sometimes he spends hours petting it, he always says that your hair is beautiful just like his and that makes him very happy, Ran always compliments you and says how much he loves your brother and Rindou, you really are the most important things he has in life.

Both of them taught you how to fight, they think it's very important that you know how to defend yourself if they're not around, despite knowing that it's very difficult for someone to want to mess with you knowing that you're part of their family. Despite this, they worry about your safety, so they are almost always around.

Hi!

I really enjoy reading your fics! If your request are still open can i request a bonten ran x reader. Reader is at the club with her friend but the thing is she is really insecure about herself. Her ‘friend’ are honestly toxic towards her. Ran keeps looking at reader and she notices but also one of her so call friends does too. The friend gets jealous and won’t stop saying how ran is looking at her. Ran finally decided to make a move on reader but the friends her off by beginning to talk to him. Obviously ran outs her back in her place and starts talking to reader. Sorry if it’s too long. Feel free to ignore if it’s too much!

Hi there 💙💛

I’m sorry if it felt like a long time to write this one, but I got busy with the other requests😊

I’m really glad you asked this one though, and I hope it turned out the way, you pictured it. 😊

It was interesting to write fluff for Bonten Ran though.

I hope you enjoy it 😊

Hi!

Title: I Saw You

Pairing: Reader x Ran

Summary: You went to a club with your childhood friend only to catch the attention of a well-known crime syndicate member. | Genre: Fluff |Warnings: Some Angst, Toxic friend | Words: 4.1K

Putting on the clothes you picked up for yourself earlier has proven to be an even harder chore than the shower you took or the makeup you put on a while ago. Your heart simply wasn’t in it to go out tonight, and until the last few minutes that you had to leave, you prayed your friend would call to cancel. It wasn’t nice to wish for such a thing, you knew, but you couldn’t help yourself.

Your friend was someone you shared history with during the time, you were younger, and you lacked a bigger friend circle. Not much has changed since then, but you would like to think you did find people who were just a better fit for you, especially after your friend found herself other friends and a boyfriend ultimately leaving you behind. It hurt a lot at first to be on your own like that, but over time, you found a few good friends and didn’t dwell on it too much.

When you met your friend a day ago and got the chance and reminisce about those few moments, you had to spare on the street, it was really nice and fun. You were close for so long as kids and shared many good memories from that time. You didn’t hesitate much to agree to meet today and catch up more, but when your friend suggested a night out in the club, you really wished you had.

Clubs, especially as fancy ones as the one she took you to, weren’t your scene. The only reason, you forced yourself to go was because you were never certain how to avoid such things once you agreed and because she was your childhood friend.

A part of you wanted to keep reminiscing about those good times you shared, and another part felt sympathy when she confessed her boyfriend broke up with her after falling in love with her former best friend. It seemed like she was going through a lot, but one chuckle and savage ‘Looks, like you, still dress like you did when we were kids, huh?’ comment later, and apart from those good times you shared as children, you started to recall other instances when you would beg your family to lie whenever your friend came to ask you out to play or was glad when she was gone for a week because she went to visit her grandparents.

She’s just hurting, you told yourself as you tried to start the topic of your shared past or her recent heartache to vent, but she hushed you and looked away leaving you nursing the coke you ordered surrounded by strangers behind some table inside some loud club.

Your eyes lifted up to look around the place and for a moment you thought you caught a handsome man looking at you as he leisurely passed the table almost stopping at one point to prolong the moment and watch you.

Heat immediately hit your face, and you were certain, he noticed as he calmly smiled at you his downturned purple eyes making his face look softer now.

Your self-awareness caught up to you and you cast your gaze down. You weren’t ever one to draw the male attention, and even if you did, you never really knew what to do with it.

But it felt really nice to feel admired for a second by the man though.

When you gathered some spare courage and look up again, the man was sadly gone, and you felt a part of you was honestly disappointed by this.

More time has passed and your mood was properly dropping. A few men showed up by the table trying to ask your friend out, ignoring you most of the time, but she always declined, ‘Oh, you don’t have to worry about me. You can go dance with them and have fun.’ Even if it would suck even more if you were left on your own, you would feel bad if your friend was wasting a night because of you.

She laughed as if you were being ridiculous, ‘Don’t be silly. Why would I bother with those third-grade losers when he hasn’t stopped looking my way once since we got here?’

Your eyes blinked as you were surprised by her words. Due to your shyness, you didn’t really remain looking at anyone for too long, but you still thought you would notice someone staring for too long, ‘Who?’

‘Haitani Ran,’ said your friend like it should have been obvious adding a mocking sound after the name at your ignorance, ‘He hasn’t stopped looking at me since we got here. He’s not subtle about it at all.’

She turned away from you, and you followed the direction she was currently facing away from you.

There were a lot of people present in the club tonight, but even still, it was rather obvious, your friend’s interest lay solely on the VIP table that was set on a platform height above the others giving its occupants the perfect view of the club and everyone there. The table was full just like your own.

There were mostly men engaging in sipping their drinks while talking with maybe two women in revealing clothes that seemed to be the eye candy to a certain large and old-looking man.

For a moment, you were still unsure, of who your friend meant by the name she gave you, but then your eyes were met with someone else’s.

You blinked and looked away momentarily embarrassed that you got caught, but when you looked again, you found the man was still keeping his gaze on you with something like a calm smile playing across his face. You realized because of that smile it was the same handsome man who stopped by your table earlier.

Your heart speeded up and subconsciously, you ran your palms over your clothes as if trying to iron out the wrinkles while once again pushing your gaze toward your lap feeling all too self-aware of his profound gaze, ‘Uh, w-which one is he?’

‘Only the most gorgeous one,’ said your friend and as if it should have been obvious before she fixed her dress to reveal more cleavage.

After a moment she sighed almost longingly, ‘The man in the expensive purple suit with light purple and black hair.’

You blinked and lifted your eyes again realizing she was talking about the man, you previously caught eyes with. It surprised you how much the realization left you disappointed and down. It had to mean you merely mistook he was looking at you before and was probably eyeing your friend the entire time. It made sense your friend caught so many men’s interests tonight, and she was truly a stunning and attractive woman with confidence in herself, unlike someone like you.

‘Uh, he’s good-looking,’ you agreed and turned to your friend to offer her some support hiding your true feelings as best as you could, but she quickly rolled her eyes at you, ‘He’s hot and one of the most powerful men in the city that’s what is he is. No one would dare to cross or humiliate me if I was the girlfriend of Haitani Ran.’

You blinked confused and alerted upon hearing that before you looked at the man again. He was still pretty far along with his friends or business partners, and it was obvious they had to be important people to be seated in the VIP zone, but it wasn’t until your eyes lowered from his face that you caught the real reason why your friend said what she did.

You swallowed feeling your heart speed up for a different reason, ‘H-hey, is that…isn’t that tattoo the symbol of the Bonten?’ Everyone in the city and their mother knew about the most ruthless criminal syndicate that gained power a few years ago and slowly took over the city and soon would probably control the entire country too.

She seemed pleased that you noticed, ‘Yes. Wouldn’t it be perfect revenge for my ex to see me with such a hot and dangerous man?’

You couldn’t believe what she was saying and feared she might have planned something far worse than the petty revenge of who ended up the winner in some relationship feud.

Taking a deep breath and gathering your thoughts you looked up only to find the man saying something to the other man and standing up all the while looking in your direction.

Your heart speeded up again because even despite what your friend said about him eyeing her all night, you found your eyes hypnotized by his as he didn’t seem to want to allow you to look away.

‘Leave us,’ hissed your friend startling you enough to look away from the man and at her confused not just by her words but by the fact that you seemed to have shared a very intense eye contact with a member of the most dangerous gang around, ‘W-what?’

‘He’s coming over,’ she said looking annoyed that you didn’t seem to understand, ‘He probably doesn’t want to sit around and hit on me with my keychain friend around, don’t you think?’

Her words hurt a lot, but at that moment, they didn’t hurt as much as they could since you were still partly shaken by what was going on.

Still, you got to your feet and mumbled a weak goodbye, but only managed a couple of steps away from the table before you felt someone very gently put their hand on your lower back.

You turned to look at the person surprised. You were never one to appreciate new touches from strangers, but this person touched you so gently that it was almost like he simply kept his palm close enough for you to feel his warmth rather than the real feeling of pressure.

Whatever thought you had run inside your mind over some stranger touching you immediately vanished as you found yourself face to face with the enigmatic and dangerous Haitani Ran whose name you only knew because your friend planned to let him hit on her.

Everything about him was even more beautiful and breathtaking up close. The shape of his purple eyes made him look far too relaxed and calm, but the intensity of his gaze on your face was in direct contrast with such feelings.

Your lips parted, but you couldn’t form any words just yet since you were too stunned to have such a man, this close to you all the while watching you as if he didn’t want to look anywhere else.

He was still smiling at you calmly, but being able to see his smile meant you could also have a good look at the Bonten symbol tattooed over his throat making you remember just who this man really was.

You stepped a bit away from his reach fixing your purse ready to leave when you felt him lean closer to your head and raise his hand to your arm although he never once actually let his palm touch you, ‘Don’t go yet. Please.’

Your heart missed a beat and then speeded up monstrously fast as you heard his velvet voice say so close to your ear.

You watched him lean away to look at your face so confused yet tempted by those words alone simply because no one, especially someone as handsome as this person, ever looked at you in a way they really wanted you to stay in their presence as Haitani Ran did just now.

Just then your friend came from behind the man and stumbled sort of into his side, ‘Oh, excuse me,’ she giggled all too loudly, ‘You know you shouldn’t bother my friend. She’s already leaving to wake up early for her job tomorrow. She’s not fun like that,’ you heard her say, and not for the first time tonight averted your eyes feeling all too insecure and humiliated by her recalling it wasn’t all that different when you were younger.

‘I, on the other hand, have all the time-’

‘You should use that time, to think why you’re such a shitty friend then,’ said the man with a completely different voice than the one he used on you not a moment ago causing you to look back up.

He was looking at your friend, but nothing about his gaze spoke of calmness, ‘You should never call someone a friend unless you plan to be completely loyal to them.’

Ran smirked then, but there was nothing kind about it before he leaned down toward your friend’s ear and said something to her you couldn’t hear over the sounds of the music around you.

Your friend’s face went very pale, and her eyes widened with pure horror before she turned around and went back to the table snatching her purse and quickly rushing past you without a single word.

You should have gone after her, right? It was the right thing to do. The nice thing to do, but shockingly you found your feet planted against the floor simply looking at the man who just scared her off.

‘W-what did you tell her?’ you asked as the man stepped closer to you again, almost enough that your bodies could touch, but somehow still maintaining distance.

His wild smirk softened again, ‘I simply told her how I treat people who are disloyal to me.’

You swallowed and felt unsettled imagining what it could mean coming from someone associated with a crime syndicate like Bonten, ‘What do you want from me?’

It was a fair question, even if it surprised you, you managed to ask at all. This man was dangerous, and maybe you had a chance to run away from him, but at the same time still having his eyes on you, you couldn’t help but stay in place. And despite your anxiety, you couldn’t help but think it wasn’t fear that was making you.

‘I saw you when I first walked in,’ he confessed and took a proper look up and down your body, ‘You’re very beautiful. Extraordinary,’ he played with the word with his tongue, ‘I never see women like you around here.’

It made sense; you weren’t the type for these gatherings.

You pointed behind you and admitted, ‘My friend took me here.’

Ran grinned upon hearing your words, ‘You could have mentioned that sooner. I would have been nicer to her knowing I had her to thank to be able to talk with you.’

His purple eyes were still very much planted on your face, and despite what he said, you couldn’t really believe it. You weren’t approached often and certainly not by men like him.

‘Can I buy you a drink and take you someplace quieter to talk?’ he said seemingly with all the relaxed confidence in the world causing your face to feel warm and your palms to sweat. It should have been alarming to have someone like him interested in you, but you couldn’t help yourself but feel only your usual self.

‘Men like you usually don’t want to just talk,’ you found yourself saying weakly.

Ran’s calm smile became edgier as his eyes never once left yours, ‘Are you an expert on men like me, darling?’ he asked mocking you and making you feel embarrassed and nervous again for a whole new reason.

You couldn’t really answer him though, so you remained quiet as you looked away only for him to lean closer to your face again in a way that forced you to look back at him, ‘If you know men like me so well, do you believe we can keep our word?’

His closeness was almost unbearable, and you had to remind yourself he was a dangerous man because the alternative was to get far too excited and invested in his obvious interest that you still found hard to fully believe yet.

Still, you gave him a small nod and watched his smile return as his velvet voice said, ‘Then you have my word I simply want to talk.’

You realized immediately you fell into a trap but found it hard to care all that much. It was overwhelming to be the center of attention of such a man, but at the same time, it wasn’t as horrible as you would have imagined.

You nodded again and when Ran leaned away motioning where to go, you did so almost immediately, all the while feeling the presence of his hand close to your lower back as he followed you.

For the first time ever in such a crowded place, no one knocked into you. In fact, it seemed everyone went out of their way, to make sure, they weren’t even close to you.

The man who seemed to be watching over the elevator nodded and pushed the bottom for you while you waited. It was surreal and more than just a bit hard to process.

Panic kicked in. Were you really planning to go somewhere with a known member of a crime syndicate, you just meet? You didn’t really tell any of your friends you went to this club, and they didn’t know your old childhood friend so who was to say anyone would ever find out what happened to you if you were to never make it home?

Your heart sank and the fear must have shown across your face because Ran leaned closer to your ear and comforted you, ‘It’s alright. You have my word remember? I just want to take you somewhere nice and quiet to talk. May I?’

Your eyes moved to his face as he leaned away. Despite the red flags and overthinking it was hard not to believe him.

In the end, you allowed the elevator to take you up into a hallway and then found yourself up on a balcony looking over the beauty of Tokyo at night.

‘Oh,’ you breathed out in awe over the beautiful sight, you rarely got to see before you felt the cold wind hit your body on places your clothing didn’t cover.

‘Here, take this,’ said Ran and offered you his jacket almost immediately putting it across your shoulders and smiling at you, ‘Better, darling?’

‘Yes,’ you admitted and looked at him as he came to take a place beside you leaning against the balcony ledge, ‘I like to come here and think sometimes. It clears the head to look at things from a higher perspective, don’t you think?’

The night air hit your face making it easier to breathe.

You nodded feeling pleased as you were truly grateful to be away from the loud music, the smell of smoke, and alcoholic behavior, ‘It feels much better here.’

The city below you was noisy too, but at the same time, it felt rather peaceful since it was just you two up there.

You couldn’t help but glance at your companion at the same time he turned to look at you as well, ‘Do you know who I am?’

He reached out his name for you to take, and you watched it for a moment too long before you finally did accept it.

Almost immediately he brought it to his face and almost gave you cardiac arrest by pressing his lips eagerly against your kiss marking it in some way as you could feel the heat of his lips even when they leaned away to say, ‘My name is Ran.’

Your heart was beating all too fast, as he finally let your hand go and it fell back to your side.

You nodded after a few seconds of trying to compose yourself, ‘M-my-,’ you found yourself pausing as you didn’t want to say the friend out loud again, ‘The person I came with told me, and I noticed your tattoo,’ you said and pointed to his throat smiling a bit unsure, ‘I’m y/n.’

Ran grinned looking delighted, ‘That’s really your name, isn’t it?’

You felt like you might be blushing from embarrassment again, ‘Of course, it is. Why wouldn’t be?’

He shrugged his shoulders and laughed a bit, ‘There was always an option for you to lie to me. Now, I can use it to find out things about you.’

You looked over the ledge again feeling like maybe you should have been worried, but with how calmly he spoke about it and how nice it was up here, you felt a lot of your anxiety and usual insecurities shrink.

‘Or you could simply ask me those things like an ordinary person,’ you suggested and offered him a tiny smile to show him you were teasing him slightly.

He seemed to like that because he laughed some more and leaned closer to you, ‘Alright, please tell me something about yourself. Besides that, you’re very beautiful and have poor taste in friends.’

‘Not all of them,’ you quickly felt the need to defend yourself, ‘I just know her for a long time. It’s hard to sometimes untangle yourself from such a person when you focus on the good things you went through.’

‘But it cannot last,’ he said, ‘Not when you evolve from that person, yet they stay the same.’

You nodded agreeing as you knew for a while now that your friend acted rather toxic toward you and not just tonight, ‘Yes.’

‘Then perhaps enough about her,’ said Ran, and with all the ease and time in the world, he reached toward you and brushed your hair aside ghosting his fingertips over your face, ‘Tell me about yourself already, y/n. I can hardly wait.’

Your heart skipped another beat and despite the possibility of all of this being some sort of trick to deceive you or hurt you, you believed him.

You spoke a bit about yourself. It was tiring at times since you were never one to brag, so you tried to keep it factual, but it seemed Ran took it upon himself to overpraise your every smallest achievement as if it was something that you should have gotten an award for you.

You never had anyone so thrilled about the things in your life as he did by knowing you for less than a day, and you couldn’t help, but feel delicate warmth and thrilling heat spread across your body at his behavior toward you.

It felt far too enjoyable to have the attention of Haitani Ran all to yourself like this.

You talked for what felt like far too long only to stop once exhaustion kicked in and you yawned.

He moved closer to you and got you to gasp as you felt his hand reach into the pocket of his jacket to check the time all the while grinning at you, ‘Relax, darling, you seem far too tired for anything like that. And I’m a man who prefers long hours of rest. The time we had left wouldn’t be enough for either of those things.’

Your face must have been scarlet as you looked away. It was unsettling how nice he could be with you one moment, only to switch to such flirty and suggestive behavior the next.

‘I want to see you again,’ he said after you realized how late it was and that you really needed to get home and get rest before work tomorrow, ‘Can I call you?’ he asked before he grinned, ‘But you should know I will find a way to meet you regardless your answer.’

That sounded almost like a threat except he made you feel so good while saying it, you nodded and even accepted his offer that his driver would take you home.

Ran took you to the garage by a back entrance so you wouldn’t have to go through the loud and smelly club again all the while once again keeping his palm against your lower back warming you through your clothes despite the delicate touch.

Right before you were about to get into the backseat, he took your hand into his again and kissed it on your opened palm.

His eyes had a mischief spark inside them as with a calm smile he stated, ‘I promised you to just talk tonight. But you should know, I won’t be able to make such a promise next time we met, darling.’

You couldn’t bring yourself to say anything to that other than get inside the car and wish him goodbye feeling that if he stopped you or suggested kissing you tonight, you would very much so let him regardless of who he was or any promises.

The next morning, when you got to work, it all felt almost like a dream except your former friend didn’t stop trying to call you and the giddy feeling inside your stomach and uncontrollable need to smile wouldn’t let you go.

Once you came home, you found a large bouquet of your favorite flowers, something you also mentioned last night, waiting for you in front of your door with a surprisingly tame offer for dinner tomorrow.

You bit your lower lip and pressed the card against your lips still smiling mentally already accepting feeling braver than ever and good about your decision.

BONTEN MEN when you catch a cold because im currently sick, i need some fluff and someone to take care of me ( ̄ハ ̄*)

────────。゚•┈୨♡୧┈• 。゚────────

MIKEY: cares for you a lot, brings you his favorite food and legit gets sad if you say you don't wanna eat anything (pls eat at least a bit, don't make him sad). he absolutely will lay himself next to you even when you tell him not to because that way he'll be sick too (he'll just say he doesn't care and wants to cuddle with you)

RAN: worries a lot, but is calm and takes care of you well, as he used to take care of his brother when he got sick too. Ran is really good at it. but he says it's only because he loves you so much

RINDOU: extremely worries. like EXTREMELY. always asks if you need anything and always makes sure you have everything you might need. makes you drink lots of warm tea, covers you with lots of blankets and makes you rest a lot

SANZU: he's a drama queen. he'll panic a lot and will legit ask you if you're dying (pls, tell him you're not or he's gonna go crazy). but he also does everything you ask from him and is extremely soft during that time. though teases you just a bit ("my doll needs something? doll needs to ask me with a kiss first". smack him on his head slightly, but give him a kiss and he's all yours)

MOCHI: he looks super serious, but it's because he's worried. is really careful and soft with you when you're sick, and is really really caring. just ask him whatever you need and he'll get that. tea? warm blanket? his hugs? absolutely

KOKO: you need a pack of tissues? here, have 10 of the best quality he could find. you want some tea of a flavor you don't have at home? he'll get it. when you're sick, he'll get you everything without you even asking

KAKUCHO: he's the best. the softest, the one who takes care of you so well. brings you lots of blankets and pillows, makes you your favorite tea and snacks and you two just watch something quietly on TV, while cuddling (he gives you head kisses in the process)

TAKEOMI: is good at it. he knows everything the man might need to know about taking care of someone sick. makes you drink warm tea, have a bottle of water near with your bed (because you have to drink a lot) and gives you your favorite piece of clothes of his. a shirt? a hoodie? whatever it is, it's yours for now

If you are walking with him and some creepy person is coming towards you both he'll grab your hand and puts you behind him and once you pass the person he'll make sure your in front of him safe and sound. But if your with Ran and a situation like that happens he just sandwiches you between himself and Ran.

Before kissing you he pulls you close to him and does the thing where he looks at your eyes then your lips before kissing you

Refuses to be tiny spoon when cuddling regardless if your taller then him he just wants to feel more dominant

Loves it when you play with his hair

The type that can remove his tie with one finger

Loves showing you off

Sometimes gets insecure and thinks you'll leave him for Ran. Cuddle him and reassure him you love him and he'll feel better

Absolutely loves winning you prize's at festivals. No like seriously Ran is squished in the back seat of the car from all the plushes he won for you. He's even so kind as to let you have then on the bed.

He brings you lavender roses whenever he has the chance. You have a vase in the living room for them. He might even deliver them with a little teddy bear to your work with a letter stating how much he loves you.

Has a get away house for you and him whenever you two just want to be alone.

Takes you out to eat every Friday. Mostly because Rindou feels like he's always doing something for Bonten and never home. He wants to make sure you know he loves you.

For valentines Rindou always gets you a bear with the year on it. You have one from every year you've been together.

Mikey headcanons

^°•^°•^°•^°•^°•^°•^°•^°•^°•^°•^°•^°•^°

Mikey is always touching you whenever he can. If your walking with him you better believe he's holding your hand. He'll even go as far as to give you a piggy back ride when your tired.

Knows and life's by the sidewalk rule

Won't let you open door for yourself he has to open them for you with a "A queen should never have to open her own doors."

Mikey would steal your lollipops. If you have one in your mouth he'll go and just steal it even though you had just given him one for himself.

He knows your strong and can hold your own in a fight so he'll take you to fight alongside toman. Will get mad at himself if you end up hurt even if it's just a scratch because he's the one who took you there.

Loves it when you do his hair. Like when Draken is doing it he'll complain about how you do it better

Random dates he will just appear at your doorstep like "We are going on a date yayyyy!"

Mikey has given you a lot of his jackets and starts whining when you are wearing your own one instead of his.

If or when you guys have /adopt a kid he would tell them story's about his big brother Shinichiro while he works on a motorcycle in the garage

Speaking of Shinichiro, Mikey would want to be the kind of role model Shinichiro was to him.

Kinda short I'm sorry but I couldn't really think about anything else 😅

You rubbed your eyes, the lack of sleep getting to you as you pulled out the keys to your apartment. You did, however, catch the white envelope sitting on the floor in front of your door after you had closed the door. You leaned down and picked it up, wondering why they hadn’t just put it in your box instead of walking it up four flights of stairs to put it here.

You threw your keys in the bowl and took your shoes off, pulling up your hair and ripping open the envelope. Inside were pictures of.. you. You at the store last week, you singing in the kitchen (embarrassing), you in you bedroom. This almost gave you a heartattack, how long had they been watching you?

You tore the photos up and threw them in the trash, scared to even have something like that near you. You sighed to yourself and went to take a shower, hoping this was all a dream and you would wake up with some warmth in your system.

It however wasn’t, as much as it pained you to know. You wouldn’t wake up. And you would never have the same life again.

When you got out of the shower, you dried off, put on a shirt and shorts, and started on your hair. After detangling it, you returned to your bedroom to (hopefully) get a good night’s rest and just eat in the morning instead of tonight as you were worn out from the events of the day.

You put your things up in the closet and turned around to find two young men sitting on your bed, both having purple accents to their hair. You figured they were either the ones or affiliated with the ones that had been watching you, so you calmly closed the door and fully walked into the room.

“Nice baton. What is that, your pet beside you?" you note as the shorter of the two stiffens, must have struck a nerve with that remark.

"I'm not a pet. I'm his brother." he says with a scowl

"You do realize that telling personal information like that is bad if you're coming to do a crime, right?" you say as you walk to your dresser to find a sweatshirt to put on.

"Why are you so calm, sweetheart? I have a baton, he has excellent fighting skills, and you're more worried on putting on a sweatshirt?" the taller asks as you slip the hoodie over your head.

"Well yeah, I don't want to freeze when you take me elsewhere." you deadpan as you turn around again and pick some sweatpants from the bottom drawer.

"Damn, she does have a nice ass though.

"Shut up Ran."

"But Rindou, look-"

"Rindou and Ran.. what, did they get lazy and just like the letter R?" you say with a chuckle as you put the pants on over your shorts, tying the drawstring as you turn around again.

"And I know I have a mighty fine ass, thank you. But I didn't give you the freeway ticket to look at it." you say as you put your arms out with a sigh as you looked at the boys.

"Uh.. what?" Rindou asks as he looks as Ran and then back at you.

"Well? Take me to neverland, you have photos of me, what else? Take me out of here." you say as you lower your arms as you realize they weren't smart enough to bring handcuffs.

"Dude, did mikey really think she was going to fight back? Look at this sweetheart! Wonder if I can have her instead of him?" Ran says with a smile as Rindou glares at him.

"If you want the rest of Bonten on you, sure, take her for yourself. Idiot." he says with a sigh.

"Bonten? Y'all are with them?" you ask, your voice a little more shakey that what you would have liked.

"Stop spilling info Rindou!" Ran blurts as Rindou turns to him offended.

"Me? You said my name!" he yells back.

"Well you said mine, but not she knows who we're with you dumbass!"

"She knows our name, so what? She could make the connection herself, l'm sure she did!"

Through all of this yelling, you had slipped out of the window in the living room and was now on a ledge on the side of the building, clinging onto it for dear life.

"This wasn't smart. Maybe I should just let them sort it out and go with them and die there rather than painfully like this." you say to yourself as you scoot across, hoping your neighbors would be home to let your into their room to get out of the wind that was about to knock you off.

Of course they weren’t, leaving you no choice but to go back and head to your room for safety. You finally got back to the window and crawled back inside, meeting face to face with a confused Rindou and a slightly angered Ran.

“Where did yoh think you were going?” Ran asks as he throws you over his shoulder like you weighed nothing to him.

“Hey! I didn’t want to listen to you two yell! Hey, put me down- mmhp” you fight as Rindou covers your mouth from behind Ran as you all walk out of the door together.

You slap his hand down with a scowl and beat on Ran’s back.

“Atleast say where we’re going.” you finally say as you had tired yoursef out from hitting his muscular back built like a brick.

“To the HQ.” he says with a slap of your ass and a smile, making you yelp and hit the back of his head.

⋆。゚☁︎。⋆。 ゚☾ ゚。⋆ ⋆。゚☁︎。⋆。 ゚☾ ゚。⋆ ⋆。゚☁︎。⋆。 ゚☾ ゚。⋆ ⋆。゚☁︎。⋆。 ゚☾ ゚。⋆ ⋆。゚☁︎。

When you arrived there, you were expecting a much more… evil looking place. This was just a huge mansion that looked more like a house than something affiliated with a famous gang.

Ran sets you down and fixes his suit, dusting it off as he allows Rindou to go first and puts you in the middle as he follows in last.

Inside was even bigger; chandeliers the size of lions, beautiful marble floors, nothing that you could ever have the money to afford.

“Like it? You’ll be seeing it everyday.” Ran says with a smile as you huff and take your hand down from caressing the walls of the mansion.

“Why do you even want me? I couldn’t ever be in this price range, plus I am not even interesting compared to the things I’m sure you’ve seen!” you yell as you stomp your foot like a child.

“She sure is a yeller.” a man with a long scar across his face says as a pink haired man trailed beside him with a large grin.

“Perfect for me.”

“Sanzu, you’re high again, don’t go shoving fucking pills down her throat when she just got here.” Rindou says with a frown as Sanzu’s smile drops.

“You guys don’t ever let me look at anyone man.” he says with a sigh as he examines you from afar, eyes raking your body up and down and settling on your face after a while.

“She’ll do nice, don’t’chu think Ran?” Sanzu says with a grin as he takes out a pill bottle and pops a pill in his mouth, grinning with his head back and walks away with a giggle.

“Don’t worry about him, he is just high right now on our new shipment. He likes stuff like that so he is like the.. experimenter, you know?” Rindou says with a soft smile as you stepped forward, not realizing you had sunk back into him when you were a little terrified of the encounter with Sanzu.

"Oh.. that's normal here?" you ask as you smooth your hair out with your hand, turning to the new man with a scar again.

"What?" he asks.

"That scar," you ask as you walk up and run your hand on it, "does it hurt?"

"Not anymore." he says as he removes your hand gently, turning away to hide a slight blush that had creeped up on his face.

"Oh.. good!" you chirped as you smiled and wandered towards the kitchen, hungry as you had not eaten in hours.

"She already acts like she owns the place." Ran says with a chuckle as he jogs after you.

Hi!! It's My First Time Sending A Request So I Hope This Is Understandable Enough! Could I Request Bonten

Being an idol was always your dream, ever since you were little. Through much trial and error, getting made fun of and bullied, and lots of nights wanting to give up, you had finally achieved your dream. What made everything worth working for your dream was your fans, boyfriends, and all the support that everyone gave you, granted being a popular idol had it's downfalls but there was always a positive.

𝘔𝘪𝘬𝘦𝘺 adored your singing, he loves your voice in general, but if he had to choose it'd be your singing. He made sure to listen to every song you published and proudly parades around whispering the lyrics while he listens to the song, Mikey loves being able to listen to songs before you release them and give you his honest opinion about them, he often helps you fix something about a song you didn't like. Now it's no secret Mikey loves to nap, it helps him escape from reality for awhile, this being said anytime mikey and you both have free time, he'll ask you to talk to him while he falls asleep. You could vent about how rude people are and mikey can happily snooze away like a kitten.

𝘚𝘢𝘯𝘻𝘶 is your biggest fan girl, and when I say biggest, I mean it. Sanzu is always buying your merch and will proudly wear any shirts, makeup, hairclips, literally anything sanzu will gladly wear it if you asked him too. He will happily be a model for your clothes as well, doesn't matter if it's a bra, panties, socks, he will agree to wear it and model for you. Sanzu will always make it to your shows, livestreams, and fan gatherings. He won't make himself known at the most conventional times but at least he shoes up right?

𝘒𝘰𝘬𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘪 is always making sure the company and people you collaborate with will benefit you and won't screw you over. He listens to every worry you have when a big event is coming up and he's instantly making sure you'll be ok. Kokonoi does keep track of your shows so he knows when to show up. Kokonoi isn't a fan of big crowds but he'll happily support you from VIP seats and often times from your livestreams while he works.

𝘒𝘢𝘬𝘶𝘤𝘩𝘰 adores when you have a new dance routine to show him. It doesn't matter what he's doing, he could be asleep at 5 am but happily wake up to see what new dance you came up with or learned. He'll never tell you this but he often practices the dances himself when he's alone, Kakucho gets tired after like three minutes so best believe this man thinks your incredible for being able to do an entire dance. Kakucho is almost like a mother when your at shows, he'll wait backstage with water, and a snack. Please don't reject him or his heart will actually break, you found him literally pouting once when you said you didn't need a sip of water.

𝘙𝘢𝘯 has literally no shame in him supporting you. He crested a fan account for you, granted it's super cringey edits and edited photos of you but he's proud of it too. Yes he is learning how to make proper and better edits, also please tell him you like the edits, he will cry and give you the silent treatment if you say you don't like them. Anytime ran says that he's dating you while talking to other fans at your concerts literally no one believes him, and he gets real petty about it too. He'll purposely call you over to wherever he is and won't stop kissing you just to rub it in, that he is dating.

𝘙𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘰𝘶 loves how excited you get when you have new costumes to show him. He takes a million photos and videos of you, if you ever looked at rindous photos, 93% is just you. He just thinks your the most perfect thing in the world and wants to capture every moment of happiness you share with him. He is stingy with the photos and fights with everyone about why he has to send the photos to them. Rindou has such a mean resting bitch face that anytime he's out with you, everyone is so hesitant to ask for photos, like they honestly think rindou is one of your body guards.

hi hehe can I request a shy reader that owns a bakery and mikey walks in one day soaking wet from the rain, so the reader fussed over him before offering sweets :0? - 🔆

A.N: Hi there!

Thank you for the request.💙💛

I hope this was something that you had in mind, and that you will like this. Enjoy 💙💛

Update: Now PART 2

Hi Hehe Can I Request A Shy Reader That Owns A Bakery And Mikey Walks In One Day Soaking Wet From The

Title: Taiyaki for the Soul

Pairing: Manjiro x Reader

Genre: Fluff |Warning: some angst since I chose Bonten Mikey | Words: 4.5K

The weather wasn’t getting better, so your decision, to let your cashier home early seemed like the right call. You would hate it if the poor older woman had to walk to her bus in such horrific conditions. It was the type of weather no one should be left outside and given the lack of customers inside your small bakery and on the street behind the large windows, it seemed most of the people really took that advice.

You played with the business card near the register for the last half hour arranging them across the small plate they were usually placed for customers to see and pick them up if they felt like it.

It was overall a boring day due to the rain, and it seemed like you even might end up closing early and going home yourself when your eyes caught some sort of movement outside in the darkness and nonstop downpour.

A person outside in this weather?

You walked from the other side of the counter closer to the large windows and peeked outside. It was still hard to see a lot, but even so, after a while, your eyes could make out the shadowy figure standing outside your bakery.

This caused you to gasp a bit alarmed. It was raining and the wind was horrific, and yet this person was just standing there without an umbrella or raincoat or anything really.

They could be homeless.

The idea that anyone would be forced to spend their evening outside in such conditions didn’t sit right with you, but what could you do about it? In general, you were not good at interacting with people. You preferred to bake alone in the comfort of your kitchen and have your cashier deal with customers. You were better with people you knew for a longer time, but even so, it often felt like too much to even speak out loud when asked let alone when you needed to ask something.

But the weather is really bad, and they’re just standing there.

You tried to rationalize that they had to see the lights coming from your bakery so if they felt like coming in they would have, but…

Don’t we all sometimes want things, but are too afraid to reach for them ourselves?

With that in mind and before your doubts could get the best of you, you opened the door and called out through the sounds of the wind, ‘Excuse me!’

The person stood not far from you and the door to the bakery with their back turned to you, so you tried again, this time a bit louder, ‘Excuse me! Would you like to come inside, please?!’

You couldn’t help, but feel silly that you were yelling on the street like this. You weren’t used to yelling at all. You tried to avoid it as much as you could, but given the loud sounds of the wind and rain, it couldn’t be helped.

The person didn’t turn around, but they might have just not heard you.

You rushed back inside and snatched something to throw across your head and shoulders and put on outside shoes before you opened the door again partly shocked that the person was still there.

You stepped outside and touched that person’s arm not wanting to startle them in case they didn’t hear you.

They flinched anyway, and when they turned around, you were shocked to find such empty eyes looking back at you. You couldn’t explain how they looked if you tried, but there was something profoundly empty almost dead about them that caused an instant chill to rush toward your heart making you feel sad just by looking at them.

How can anyone still alive have such dead eyes?

You feared to think about what had to happen to them.

The person, who you now could see was a young man with white hair, was staring at you blinked releasing you from the intense lifeless imprisonment of his gaze and caused you to stutter, ‘Uh-you-if…w-w-would you…,’ the rest came out too rushed, ‘like-to-come-inside?’

You felt cringed over how pathetic you sounded cursing yourself for it a bit.

The man didn’t say anything. He just carried on staring at you with his dark empty eyes causing you to feel even more nervous and like an idiot, since it must have looked odd that out of the blue someone asked him to come inside, ‘It’s really…cold and uh, this weather will make you sick. So if you want you could come inside with me.’

The dark eyes blinked again, and the man looked up behind you at your bakery probably trying to piece together what was it that you wanted from him.

You bit your lip imagining this going better inside your mind and cursing yourself for making this so hard and weird, ‘Please?’

The dark eyes snapped back at you, and even if they stayed lifeless the rest of his face appeared confused more than anything, but to your absolute surprise and delight, the man gave out a single and curt nod which got you to immediately let out a sigh of relief and quickly turn around motioning for him to follow.

Once inside you quickly put down your coat and changed your shoes into a pair of slippers for when you were behind the counter and kitchen, ‘Wait here, please. I’ll find you some towel.’

You snatched a couple of dry and warm from the oven towels and rushed back to the man who now seemed to have taken a seat at one of the stools meant for customers who were waiting for their orders.

‘Here,’ you managed to get out a bit too squeakily since now all too aware this man was in your bakery, your shyness started to kick in all over, ‘Uh, you need to dry yourself…so you don’t get cold, you know?’ You asked at the same time shaking your head and avoiding their gaze a bit.

‘Thanks,’ he said shortly and simply back.

He took the towel from your hands almost lazily or less than lazily like it was almost pointless and started to dry his hair which now you could see wasn’t blond or white, but silver.

You didn’t question the odd choice. You saw many customers from tourists to regulars, so you were not unfamiliar with varieties of hairstyles and clothing. Despite the exhaustion or even more depression and complete dejection of life that was coming off of him in waves now, you couldn’t help but notice he was rather attractive. The hair color suited him just fine.

Apart from his hair, he seemed to be dressed in simple black pants and a shirt with long sleeves. The most bizarre thing about him was the flip-flops attached to his feet. If you didn’t think it was unimaginable, you would think, this man simply put on something for a nice evening stroll. But how could that be when the weather was so profoundly terrible?

But his eyes look so…dead…

‘Is there a problem?’ asked the man suddenly breaking your train of thoughts as you realized that you had spaced out with your own eyes at him, and he must have realized it.

Almost immediately, the cold was the last thing on your mind as your whole face felt warm from the shame and embarrassment, and you bowed a bit, ‘No, sorry!’

You quickly turned around, ‘It’s really cold outside. You shouldn’t just go out dressed like that or at all in such weather, you know? I…I’ll turn on the heat and make you some tea. Herbal?’

You didn’t really give him time to finish and rushed behind the counter busing yourself there for a bit all the while stealing glances at the man as he finished drying himself and set the towels over the chairs.

He wasn’t all that tall, and although he was built a bit better, you could see he looked like he hadn’t had a decent sleep and meal in a while which made your heart clench again for some reason, ‘Here’s your tea.’

He came closer to the counter and reached for the cup at the same time as you were about to give it to him causing your fingers to brush and some static to pass over your skin, ‘SORRY!’

You quickly let go and turned around to cover your face with your palm feeling more than a bit self-aware. You weren’t used to people. It was always a bit of a challenge to connect with them, which was why the form of your cashier, a middle-aged woman, who seemed could talk with anyone was a gift from heaven. You preferred to bake in the back kitchen and prepare the treats rather than serve them. Hearing her repeat the praises from the customer or describe the looks of gratitude on their faces was enough to fill your aching-to-please-others heart with content.

But you couldn’t really stay quiet and mind your own business when you were the one who invited this man to come over.

Not to mention, he looks so broken.

Luckily, by the time, you got the hold of yourself, the man was slowly drinking the tea and warming his hands against the cup all the while looking at you, but you tried to accept small victories for now.

You shifted your gaze and tried to ask politely to ease the mood. You were alone and strangers, so you weren’t at your best, but you still felt like you should try because of how sad this man looked.

He looked young…no young person should look so sad…

 ‘W-Would you like something? Anything, you like…uh. It’s on the house,’ you finally got out looking at him hopefully with a smile polite smile playing across your face hoping it was friendly enough to make him feel more comfortable.

The man looked like he might have stepped outside for a smoke, so you figured he wouldn’t have any money, phone, or even his house key on him. He almost seemed like he appeared in front of your bakery out of the thin air.

His dark eyes finally shifted from your face and glanced over the glass to see the treats and baked goods which you had prepared for today.

His lips stayed pressed into a thin line for a while before finally, he asked his voice a bit hoarse, but something close to hope flashed behind his dark eyes, ‘Say, do you have any taiyaki?’

Your heart sank a bit as you heard him ask that of all things, ‘No, it’s not very popular among the customers, so I don’t make that.’

He nodded as if he almost expected such an answer, and you felt something inside you riot a bit against the idea that out of all the deserts and snacks you had around, he wanted one which was so laughably easy to make and simple, and yet you did not currently have. One, that might potentially bring him something close to joy or a spark of happiness behind his eyes. Such an idea, for someone who wanted to please people, like you, left you feeling absolutely disgusting on the inside with yourself.

‘But,’ you spoke and looked at your hands as it was a bit hard to have his absolute attention on you, ‘if you’re not in a hurry. I can make you some,’ you said with a low voice hoping it didn’t come off as too pushy because you would hate if he assumed you were trying anything on him.

‘You don’t have to-’

‘But I want to!’ you said and looked away feeling a bit embarrassed at how eager you sounded. You didn’t know this man, and you didn’t owe him anything, but he looked so sad and empty, you couldn’t help yourself but want to give him something.

You forced your eyes back at him, ‘So what do you say?’

His dark eyes remained the same, but there was clear curiosity coming from the rest of him as he put his elbow at the counter and pressed his cheek against his knuckles to look at you, ‘Why?’

What a horribly loaded question…

You looked down again and ironed your clothes with your palms a bit in a nervous way, ‘I like making snacks and baked goods for others,’ you admitted, ‘It makes me feel good to know they enjoyed them, and I fed them well? So…if you want taiyaki, I don’t mind making you some. I…I would really like to make you some.’

When you looked back up, he was still looking at you, but even if his gaze was intense and his dark eyes seemed so empty, you couldn’t help but think there was something alluring about someone like him looking at someone like you like this. You didn’t think anyone ever looked at you with such interest.

‘Alright, make me some then. Feed me,’ he said and opened his mouth for good measures causing your heartbeat to speed up and your face to grow warm again before you turned your back and quickly.

‘Right…so, uh…I’ll go and make you some now,’ you started to make your way to the back, where your small kitchen was, only to catch movement behind you and find the man now standing behind the counter with you.

Did he really just jump over it like that?

He paused and blinked at you probably noticing your shocked face, ‘Am I not going with you?’

You weren’t planning on asking him to join you in the kitchen, ‘It’s not in order with the health department rules,’ you admitted, but once you saw his face almost drop into more despair than it was already in, you quickly made up your mind, ‘Uh, but, please, join me.’

You found him a pair of slippers and an apron, ‘So you don’t drag mud or dirty your clothes.’

He put the shoes on himself, but then he waited while holding onto the apron which made you blink and walk closer to him, ‘Here, let me.’

He let you walk around him and tie a small bow in the back. Your eyes briefly catching the tattoo on the back of his neck as you did.

That symbol...

‘Do I look like a baker now?’ he asked, and there was almost a hint of amusement in his voice, which made you smile even if just a bit, ‘Not yet.’

You helped him wash his hands properly and prepared the ingredients, ‘Can I ask for your name? It feels strange, to bake with you and not know.’

‘Mikey.’

He didn’t offer you more, so you accepted it and offered him a smile as you introduced yourself. It could have been awkward, you were still strangers, but oddly, it didn’t feel so after you started directing Mikey on what to do or moving your hands over his to help him.

At first you hesitated to touch him, but he seemed so casual about it, you managed to find your footing.

You told him a bit about yourself mostly to try and fill the silence while you work. You tended to hum when you baked, so this wasn’t all that different. It surprised you, how easy it seemed to talk to him, and even more so when he admitted, ‘I used to eat taiyaki all the time when I was younger. My buddy Kenchin was always out of money because of me.’

‘That’s not very nice,’ you teased, but he was quick to pout, ‘Don’t say it like that. If he really minded, he wouldn’t have left me. Kenchin is no pushover.’

You chuckled, and you took it with great relief when you found him easing up a bit. He seemed casual before too, but there was tension in his whole body that couldn’t be explained and contradicted by the laziness of his persona. However, now he seemed to properly let his hair down so to speak, and before you knew it he told you about why he loved taiyaki so much, ‘It’s like a distant memory. My brother’s warm hand holding mine as we walk through the festival stopping at booths and eating taiyaki.’

Mikey looked most alive you saw him since you met him when he spoke about his childhood, siblings, and friends. You watched him closely, and whenever you saw a shadow of something haunting appear behind his eyes, you purposely asked another question or shared something from your own childhood to bring him back to the light.

You managed to prepare the fish-shaped goods in an hour and a half. Maybe you would manage faster on your own, but it was nice to have company, and even if for a bit, you would have sworn that Mikey’s eyes lightened up when you praised his work and called his taiyaki better because he put more love and effort into them.

The more time you spend together in the small kitchen in the back, the more the depressed-looking man seemed to almost relax and radiate with life.

‘Delicious,’ moaned Mikey and closed his eyes and looking properly blissful making you wonder how long it had been since he felt this content about something in his life.

‘See, you can make yourself some at home too,’ you assured him taking a taste of one yourself. They turned out really well.

He shook his head almost instantly, ‘It wouldn’t be as good,’ his dark eyes looked you over, ‘It wouldn’t be as fun as it was with you.’

He smiled so openly and almost happily, you thought there never was a more beautiful person in the world. It made your chest feel warm, and a smile settle against your lips to be in his presence and to see him like this and know some of it was your doing.

You settled for just one chuckling as Mikey ate one after another clearly enjoying the snack and looking almost like a child.

After a while, you heard some buzzing, and you were surprised when Mikey pulled out a phone from his pants as you assumed, he didn’t have anything on him.

His alive and content face darkened as his eyes scanned through the phone screen, and you wondered if it was the work, he mentioned that he didn’t like so much at one point.

‘I need to leave soon,’ he said and put the phone away looking upset rather than empty.

You nodded and tried to ease his mood, ‘That’s alright, I can pack the rest of the taiyki for you.’

‘How much?’

‘I told you it’s on the house,’ you argued feeling awkward that you had to say it again, but Mikey shook his head, ‘No, it’s too much. How much is it?’

‘No,’ you argued back although it was weak since you were never good or comfortable with arguing with people, ‘I…can’t take your money. You helped me make them, and you looked…happy. I don’t want to ruin it,’ you smiled at him honestly feeling the warmth inside your chest over the experience and his presence, ‘It was nice baking with you and seeing you enjoy it too.’

You watched the hard look on his face soften so profoundly, it was almost like they were two different people altogether.

‘I liked baking with you,’ he admitted and looked away almost unsure of himself or self-aware, ‘and talking. Today was the first time, I didn’t think about my past in a bad way. I missed thinking about my childhood bathed in sunshine colors instead of the grey ones.’

Your heart ached at his words, and you almost felt tears rushing toward your eyes before you chased them away by turning your back to him, ‘I’m happy to hear that. I feel like I want…I want to make you talk about your childhoods, and be happy…glad that you got to experience those good parts, and not feel guilty about them.’

There was silence after you said those words that made you almost regret them until you heard his soft and broken, ‘You don’t know me. How could you…want good things for me when you don’t know…’

He didn’t finish, so you decided to speak again, ‘Sometimes…you don’t need to know everything about a person. Sometimes it’s enough to know they’re sad and hurting. It’s enough to want to make them feel better.’

There was once again silence after that making you question whether you made things awkward or if he was simply going over your words. You were honest. You didn’t know Mikey and everything who he was, but when he spoke about his childhood, siblings, and friends, you felt like he came alive. As if it was so long since he talked to anyone about these things, he might have forgotten there were good things about his past too.

When you turned around, you found him unexpectable close forcing you to move back until your back hit the counter behind you.

He caged you by stepping even closer to you almost touching all the while looking at your face before his dark eyes moved to your lips.

It was a feeling more than a comprehensive thought about what was about to happen, but it was enough to jump-start your heart to the extreme.

Panic kicked in before you could stop it from taking over, and before you could stop yourself, you loudly gasped, ‘Don’t,’ right before Mikey moved his face closer to yours.

He paused and leaned away looking genuinely shocked before his eyes darted away from your face, and it seemed he wanted to move away too, ‘I’m sorry. I thought…I must have misjudged this.’

It was the closest to shame, you saw the young man get through the whole evening.

You looked away as well and gathering all the courage, you could find, you reached out and took hold of his arm chasing the feeling of connection and happiness from before to settle your thoughts and feelings that blossomed inside.

Your voice was soft again as you barely managed to get those words out of your mouth with how embarrassed you felt, ‘Uh, you didn’t misjudge anything.’

The moment, Mikey moved closer, your palms shot up and covered his mouth before he would be able to reach your face.

He looked confused, and you didn’t blame him. It would have sounded confusing to you as well if someone else was retelling this story to you, but it couldn’t be helped.

You shut your eyes closed trying to gather your thoughts and push them above your feelings, ‘I-I don’t allow people to kiss me…unless I know them well.’

You didn’t open your eyes fearing, he might find your reasoning silly, but your mouth seemed to get the best of your and carried on, ‘I…I don’t know you very well yet…so please don’t…don’t take advantage of the fact that I…that…I like you so far.’

You felt hot breath against your palms which caused your eyes to open and then to freeze in place.

Mikey’s dark eyes were on you, but for the first time their emptiness didn’t bother you as you grew familiar with it, and in contrast with his surprised face, it seemed almost bearable. Familiar. Welcoming even.

‘Don’t…do that,’ you whispered feeling your cheeks were on fire again referring to what you assumed he was planning to do each time he leaned closer to your face, ‘Unless you plan to come back here again, and…and tell me more about yourself. Alright?’

It sounded ridiculous in your own ears to demand something like that. It felt like you had no right, but at the same time, it felt like you owe it to yourself, to demand at least that much for yourself.

‘You’re a bit strange,’ said Mikey shocking you and forcing your palms to fall to your sides as you felt embarrassed now. But just as quickly as he caused you to feel such a way, you watched and heard as he chuckled out loud almost joyfully, ‘But very kind and sweet.’

He reached behind you and took another fish-shaped treat before he took a bite with a small smile pressed across his face as he chewed, ‘Just like your goods.’

His free hand reached out and patted your head a bit, ‘Don’t change, no matter what, okay? It feels too good to know that people like you exist in the same world as someone like me.’

You didn’t hear such things often, so it brought a smile to your own face. Most people suggested you try and be less shy, or less naïve and trusting often viewing all that as a flaw. You didn’t blame them for their views, but it felt good to for once hear it wasn’t a bad thing to be the way you were.

He stepped away from you and allowed you to pack the rest of the taiyaki in peace which helped to calm your rapidly beating heart and mind that only now seemed to properly realize, you almost let him kiss you.

He already stepped out of the kitchen by the time, you were finished, and you couldn’t help but wonder if your choice really was a good one. You stood by it. You didn’t know Mikey well enough yet to be that intimate with you no matter how attracted you felt toward him. You were just too you to allow yourself to be that carefree about such things. But at the same time, you felt a stab of worry that this might be the last time, you would see the young man with silver hair and if that was the case, shouldn’t you want to have something to remember him by?

You handed the plastic container over to him, and he easily placed it under his elbow as he switched from your slippers to his flip flops, ‘Thanks for today.’

You smiled at him wishing you knew something better to say if this really was the final time you would see him.

‘M-Mikey-kun,’ you started when he opened the door into the darkness outside. It seemed it stopped the rain if nothing else.

Your voice broke a bit at the end, ‘Come again.’

He paused and offered you a final smile that almost reached his eyes before he stepped out into the dark as if he was never inside your shop to begin with.

Almost immediately, you felt a sense of coldness enter your body, but you couldn’t bring yourself to follow him outside sensing that if he wanted to come to see you again, he would.

There was no promise, but there also was no final goodbye.

You spent the rest of your opening hours cleaning up erasing almost all the evidence that Mikey was there at all.

Once you returned to the register you noticed something was off. It was almost unnoticeable at all, but you did notice that from the small plate near the register where you kept your business cards, the same card, you were playing with earlier, there was one missing.

This brought the familiar tender warmth to return to your chest as you silently let out a small prayer into the universe.

Mikey-kun, call me, the next time, you’re alone and feel like baking taiyaki together.

doesn't mind "moming" and cooking, cleaning, etc

LOVES cooking with you and hearing your kid(s) and you laugh

makes those cheesy pancakes with smiles on them

spoils the kids, but for a reasonable amount yk?

Draken:

a little hesitant

he just.. thinks he's rough and is scared to hurt someone

for some reason, your kid really likes his hands?

sits there and plays with his hands and legit stops their crying??

he's fine with it though, the baby at least likes him

and will raise the kid with bikes. don't test him.

the kid will call inui uncle inupi <3

he lets his kid play with his hair, something that takes a lot of trust for him to allow lol

teaches his kids manners.. and maybe a few curse words.. just maybe...

Ran:

okay right off the bat, he spoils his kid too much

he's like the next kokonoi wtf

but anyways he loves his kid

wants them dressed up and owns the haitani name

uncle rindou dislikes the fact that the kid grows up spoiled, but whatever

has no clue how to cook but that's the fun right? his kid gets a good laugh out of it too so it's all good

will come out of the kitchen with flour over his clothes and on his face

there is also a distinct small hand print on his chest from his baby

Kakucho:

he's a sweetheart, that's all. the end.

legit the best daddy out there

spoils his kid, but also sets boundaries

plays princess and/or races cars

whatever the kid likes and imagines, it's now true

will zoom his kid around in the air

Ran & Rindou Haitani

The brothers are a dynamic duo in and out of the fighting realm. Especially now, when they're taking such good care of you.

"You want another blanket?"

"No," you whisper, snuggling under the three Rindou has already brought you. "This is perfect."

"Are you sure?" Ran wonders, holding his share of items - a mug full of warm tea, medicine, and a box of tissues.

"I'm sure." Ran sets the items on the nightstand next to you, then sits in the chair beside the bed. Rindu takes his place at the foot of the bed, flicking on the TV and flipping through the channels until he lands on one you like - the black and white one that plays classic movies.

"This movie was good," you murmur, blowing your nose into a tissue before humming alone to the opening credits. "Have you seen it?"

"Yeah, once," Rindou replies. "But if you're recommending it, we should watch it together." Ran agrees with a simple grunt, and you three are entranced by the movie's opening scenes set in a place you'd never been.

You reckon you'd fallen asleep mid-way through because when you wake up, the two men are on either side of you and tucked under the covers. Your pain has eased considerably, and you silently thank them for their kindness with a couple of forehead kisses.

Takeomi Akashi

It's been a long day, but Takeomi is prepared for a long night when he steps into the house, rubbing his forehead.

"Babe?" Takeomi calls out, walking through the house and setting his things down where they belong. "Babe?"

"In here," you call out, and Takeomi follows the sliver of light from the hallway, his fingers loosening his tie and untucking his shirt.

"Hey, sweetheart--" He stops when he sees you grimacing in the bed, your face contorted into a painful expression. "Oh, shit."

"Just need help reaching the floor," you whisper, and Takeomi hurries to your side, reaching his hands out for you to steady yourself.

"You need the heating pad?" Takeomi wonders, his eyes glancing over at the nightstand.

"Sure," you reply and shuffle your way to the bathroom with his help. Once you're situated, Takeomi wanders back into the bedroom, pulls the heating pad out from the dresser, plugs it in, and places it right where your back would lay.

"Ready when you are." He comes back into the bathroom as you're brushing your teeth carefully. "How long has it been hurting?"

"A few hours," you admit, and Takeomi nods, biting his inner lip. It isn't long before you both trudge back to the bedroom, and he helps you into the bed, relishing in the sound of your satisfied sigh when your back hits the pillows. "Thank you, baby."

"Anytime," he coos, pulling the sheets around you and kissing your lips. "Anything for my girl."

Kakucho Hitto

"Hey, how long until you get back?" Your husband looks at his watch and then answers,

"Ten minutes."

"Okay..."

"Are you feeling alright?" Something in him tells him you're not, so he's pressing his foot down on the gas before you can answer. "I'm on my way."

When Kakucho arrives in the house, he quickly locates you beside the couch. "Hey," he whispers, crouching down so you can see his face. "Let's get you somewhere comfier, yeah?"

"Yeah," you whine, your bottom lip trembling. Kakucho hefts you up by placing his hands under your armpits and cradling you in his arms.

"Just another one of those nights." When you're in bed and covered by many blankets, your husband presses his hand to your forehead and determines you have a slight chill.

"Give me five minutes. I'm going to warm up some tea for you."

"You really do love me," you tease, smiling.

"I sure do." Kakucho kisses your forehead before leaving your side and sticking to his schedule. Five minutes pass, and he returns with a pill and a small cup of tea. "Take this for the cold, and the tea will have you asleep in no time." You obey as he undresses, watching him continue his evening routine without fail.

You're drowsy when Kakucho returns from washing his face and nearly asleep when he pulls out a book he's been reading for a few weeks.

"Should I read to you before bed?"

"You should," you reply, snuggling into him as the pain fades slightly. Kakucho's voice lulls you into a comfortable sleep, each word he reads soothing your aches and pains like a sweet salve you could only conjure up in your dreams.

When you've fallen asleep, Kakucho closes his book and turns the light out, resting your head on his chest so you could listen to his heartbeat for the rest of the night.

You should totally make a 2nd part for 'Taiyaki for the Soul' it was so good

Hi there 💙💛

 Thank you for your request.

Due to the popular demand, I decided to give it a go.

Again, I would like to stress out. I’m not good with 2nd parts. If I write something as a one-shot it usually does not turn out good when I add a 2nd part, but I’m a people pleaser, so here it is. 😊 I hope you will enjoy it.

Attention: Please read PART 1 first!

You Should Totally Make A 2nd Part For 'Taiyaki For The Soul' It Was So Good

Title: Taiyaki for the Soul PART 2

Pairing: Manjiro x Reader

Genre: Fluff |Warning: some angst since I chose Bonten Mikey | Words: 4.8K

‘Not again,’ you heard your cashier groan loudly all the way from the register into the small back kitchen where you were finishing your daily cleanup.

Drying your hand in the towel, you peeked out from your spot making sure you wouldn’t be seen by the customers who were picking something at the counter nearby.

Your cashier, a middle-aged woman, you grew to find essential in your line of work since she dealt with your customers so swiftly and well, noticed you and came closer, ‘It happened again. I pick up, and I know they’re there, but once I speak they end the call.’

You offered her a small smile and shrugged your shoulders, ‘Maybe, they wrote the number wrong and didn’t want to waste your time.’

She shook her head not impressed by the idea at all before she returned to the register as the customers already made their choice and wanted to buy some of your snacks.

You returned to the small kitchen putting the towel away thinking.

Mikey-kun, was that you?

It had been over a month since the man with short silver hair and empty eyes came into your back kitchen and baked taiyaki with you. And despite trying not to bring your hopes up because he didn’t promise you anything, you couldn’t stop thinking about him. Being a shy baker in Tokyo, there weren’t many if any interesting things happening in your life and although you tried to look at the bright side of this as it was a good thing, you couldn’t seem to settle your mind or your heart.

Every time, you heard the small shop phone ring, you paused your movements on the dough and held your breath.

Mikey-kun, is that you?

You couldn’t keep the phone with you as your hands were always covered in flour or some other ingredients, and you wouldn’t want to get it dirty. All you could do was hold your breath and eavesdrop on your cashier as she either spoke with a customer or once again groaned when the call was cut short.

Of course, your heartbeat speeded up every time, she did groan and you quickly tried to get to the phone yourself just in case, but every time you did you were both left confused as the number was hidden and impossible to dial back.

‘That’s very bizarre,’ said your cashier, and you agreed with her quietly.

At night, alone inside your bed upstairs, you wondered, if it truly was your mystery tattooed taiyaki-lover. Your fantasy took you to all kinds of scenarios, but again, you were a rather ordinary baker, so everything too out of the ordinary seem like you were trying to be more interesting than you truly were. It should frighten you, and it did because he was still a stranger, but at the same time you could still picture how happy he looked talking to you. And that small fact, that it was you who made him look that way overshadowed any doubts you might have had before.

Sighing, in the present time, you put the towel on the pile for you to carry them upstairs to wash later tonight.

The idea made you scold a bit as it truly underlined just how much of an ordinary person you were. It had to be why you were clinging so much to the idea of Mikey ever coming back. Those few hours with him were the most you felt like you did something outside your comfort zone in… well… ever. Even if it was just doing your favorite activity and talking. He was a stranger, who appeared outside your shop and as bizarre as it was, who you dragged inside and taught how to bake taiyaki all the while talking as if you were on a date close friends.

You swallowed feeling a bit embarrassed and mentally scolding yourself for even thinking that. He was a stranger. An interesting stranger with haunting dark eyes, who would have kissed you if you didn’t stop him.

A stranger with a story that keeps me up at night.

You waited for your cashier to finish as you always did and then proceed to clean up the front shop and prepare it for another day. It was a routine now. One which you were so used to, you would probably get insomnia if you didn’t end up doing it every day.

You cleaned up, check all the doors and windows if they were locked, and started to go upstairs when it happened.

The sound of the phone ringing coming from downstairs was almost as loud as thunder in the silence of your building, and you moved before you could stop yourself, rushing back toward the counter and hitting your ankle against its side in the process.

You hissed but managed to snatch the phone before it finished and called out breathlessly partly still in shock and partly with hope, ‘M-mikey-kun?!’

You caught your breath feeling like a fool for doing so. The eagerness felt almost pathetic, and still, it could not be helped. Even the off chance, that it might be him was enough to keep you going.

You don’t know if it’s even him.

He’s a stranger.

Please, let it be him.

There was a soft almost breathless chuckle, and your heart skipped a bit, ‘Sounds like you missed me.’

You closed your eyes and took a deep breath a smile pushing against your lips before you could even stop it.

You lied so poorly, ‘Just a little bit.’

He hummed, and you wondered if he could tell, and if he was smiling just a little bit too, and if he was the person who constantly called hoping you would pick up, and if he wanted to come again, and if…

You sighed and covered your closed eyes with your palm feeling your heart speed up as you giggled.

There was a sound, something like a gasp or a deep hoarse inhale, you couldn’t be sure, but in the next moment he spoke, ‘Are you busy today?’

‘No,’ you answered all too quickly and honestly.

‘Oh, that’s not a very cool response,’ he teased you a bit, but before you could answer, he spoke again almost like he didn’t want you to overthink it or grow upset about it, ‘Can I come over? I…I have a few hours to spare, and I…,’ his voice grew softer and quieter, but still loud enough for you to hear, ‘I want to make taiyaki with you again. Can I?’

You smiled to yourself at how tender the question sounded almost like he was a child asking if he could have another sweet, ‘Yes, Mikey-kun. When will you come?’

‘Thirty minutes,’ he said, and you quickly started to walk to the front, ‘Alright, I will keep the door unlocked for you and turn on the oven again-’

‘DON’T!’ he said all too quickly and sharply almost making you think he was talking to someone else and panic before he spoke again, this time much quieter than before, ‘Don’t unlock it until I’m there.’

You paused waiting if he would continue, and to your surprise, he did only sounding, even more, quieter than before now, ‘It’s dark, and anyone could be on the streets now.’

Your chest expanded with the warmth from feeling touched by his concerns at the same time as it ached because it sounded like he knew what could happen in the dark when anyone could be walking the streets.

Still, you nodded even if he couldn’t see you and returned to the small kitchen where you wouldn’t be seen to prepare the over and ingredients, ‘It’s alright. Call me when you’re outside, I will go and unlock the door for you then.’

He seemed to relax at your words, ‘I will hold you up to that.’

You did just that. You prepared the red beans pasta as well as other flavors to spice it up and the dough before you took a seat on a stool waiting for Mikey to call your business number again.

Only once the phone rang, did you rush to the front door.

Your eyes caught his shadowy figure because of a nearby streetlight, and even before you opened the door, you could tell, he was looking at you through the glass window.

‘Hi,’ you said as you stepped aside to let him in.

Only when he stepped inside, and you properly saw him from the light coming from your back kitchen, did you finally realize a part of you almost believed he wasn’t really in the first place? It was easy to understand why. It seemed too bizarre to have happened in the first place. For shy hard to communicate with others, you, to bring someone into your shop and spend hours with them talking like you were good old friends? It was almost unimaginable, but here he was.

He looked the same as last time. Exactly the same. His clothes were dark, and a bit depressing, and if you didn’t know better, you would assume they were the same ones. Everything from the dark loose pants and black thin sweater to the flip-flops that made him look like he stepped out from his apartment nearby for a smoke.

His face looked the same too. You almost forgot, how he looked. How hauntingly handsome he looked even if there were dark circles under his eyes and this aura around him like he needed to be held or stayed the far away from. People often forgot new faces, but even so, you were certain until the day, you would die, you would forever remember his dark empty eyes that threatened to suck you in and drown you if weren’t too careful.

Your throat felt dry, and you looked away from his lazy yet intense gaze noticing there was something different about him.

‘What’s that?’ you asked motioning to the simple white plastic bag that so leisurely hung from his wrist.

It seemed he needed to blink at you before he glanced down as well as if he forgot he had the bag with him and shrugged his shoulders, ‘I figured if you wouldn’t let me pay, the least I could do was bring some goods to cover those we will use.’

Your lips curled into a smile, ‘That’s a very sweet thought,’ you said honestly feeling touched that he would think up something like this, ‘Thank you, Mikey-kun. It was really thoughtful of you.’

He looked at your face again and seemed almost less exhausted now with something close to life radiating from his dark eyes as they kept looking at your face, ‘It’s nothing. You make big deals out of small things, you know?’

‘Not true,’ you said a bit stubbornly and far too quickly, but it seemed to have lightened up his mood some more because he chuckled, ‘Yes, yes, my sister would have the same face you do whenever I teased her of such things.’

You thought someone else might have felt self-aware that he saw something from his sister in you, but the idea made you smile because the way he spoke about her before and now showed that he truly cared for her, ‘It’s only normal to be upset when you’re being teased, Mikey-kun. Let’s get started, alright?’

He followed you to the back already familiar with the surroundings immediately changing into the spare slippers you laid out before and reaching for the spare pink apron, ‘Can you tie it for me?’

You chuckled a bit since he once again looked a bit like a child when he asked it like that, but you still quickly went behind him and tied the apron with a single bow behind him momentarily taking a moment to steal another look at his tattoo.

He glanced at the piece of fabric with a fond face before you brought him to the sink and helped him properly wash his hands noticing how he let you do almost everything for him making it impossible to feel like you were being too pushy.

‘I like when you do that,’ he said suddenly as if he could read your mind.

Your eyes blinked and looked over at his, ‘What?’

His smile was small and soft, the kind he had before when he was reminiscing about his past, ‘Kenchin always took care of me like this. He would tie my shoes and feed me if I asked him to.’

You rose your eyebrows upon hearing, ‘He sounds like a really good friend and person.’

‘The best,’ he agreed, but then something about his softness stopped, and he looked at you turning that softness into something even sweeter but more intense, ‘Don’t worry, you’re pretty great too. But you need to try harder if you want to be my number one caretaker. You should feed me taiyaki right into my mouth this time,’ he said and opened his mouth pointing a finger inside.

The teasing got to you, and you laughed embarrassed shoving him weakly, ‘No, thanks, I rather stay second best.’

The amusement behind his dark eyes was evident enough, but it helped when he let out a small chuckle and got to the counter, ‘So, can you remind me a bit? I didn’t really repeat what you taught me at home.’

You giggled but nodded and pointed to what he needed to do next. He caught on easily, but it seemed he really liked when others helped him out because he often asked you to direct his hands and check things for him all the while talking about his childhood, friends, and family again.

‘Say,’ you said at one point while you were finishing another batch waiting for the first one to finish in the oven, ‘Was it you who kept on calling and hanging up?’

Your heart was in your throat as you asked. You didn’t want to upset the young man who seemed to be even in a better mood than he was last time. Even if your previous encounter was brief in the grand scheme of things, it seemed like he wasn’t like this as often as he should be as he could be, and something about that made you try harder to keep the mood light and casual than you ever did for anyone else. Yet, it shocked you after a while how easy it seemed to have happened. Even if you were essentially still strangers, with the baked goods smell and warmth around you, it was impossible to be anything but in a good and light mood.

And with such a good mood, you probably felt like you could keep it going no matter what you would say or do so you asked.

You knew it was partly a mistake even before Mikey’s hands visibly paused and a look of absolute emptiness passed his face, but once it did you felt so much worse.

Your hand instinctively reached out and touched his cover by the apron chest so you wouldn’t dirty his dark clothes, ‘I’m sorry.’

His eyes blinked, and it was as if whatever he was thinking a moment was forgotten and his mind cleared up before he looked over at you and then your hand on him.

Self-aware and embarrassed you pulled it away and started to work again, ‘I just wanted to say. I’m happy, you called,’ you admitted feeling even more embarrassed, but at the same time feeling you wanted to take his mind off whatever crossed it before, ‘I did miss baking taiyaki with you.’

His entire face softened and a small smirk pulled against his lips, ‘Ah, careful, I will think you’re only using me as free help.’

You grinned hoping to chase your humiliation away, ‘Don’t say that, Mikey-kun. I pay you well with delicious taiyaki after all.’

‘Half of which I make,’ he pointed out and stepped closer to your side before you felt his lips whisper far too close to your ear, ‘You should give me something sweeter to keep me working hard for you, you know?’

You covered your ear on instinct as you felt his breath against it feeling your whole face warm up.

He seemed to take great pleasure from this as he was smiling rather pleased with himself when you glanced at him again as he returned to finish his share of the workload.

It’s like he’s a different person.

You shook your head trying to calm down before the timer went off again, and you pulled the first batch out of the oven.

You had to chase Mikey’s hand away so he wouldn’t get burned as he tried to snatch the treat before the two of you then finished the next batch.

‘How come this was the first time you picked up the phone?’

The question caused you to stop working for a second since a moment ago it seemed he didn’t wish to return to the topic.

‘I work back here, so this lady who works as my cashier usually picks up the phone. My hands are always covered in something,’ you explained finishing the final fish treat and watching the young man’s next to you reactions, waiting.

‘Would you answer if you knew it was me?’ he asked sounding almost shy and his refusal to meet your gaze even if he finished his own last taiyaki assured you that he did in fact feel shy when he asked that.

You smiled a bit to yourself and put the treats on the pan before you went to put it into the oven. Knowing that your face was protected by having his back to him, you could blush freely as you admitted, ‘Maybe if you waited longer in the line, you would have found out.’

You felt your heartbeat was too fast as you were never good with this sort of flirtingif it could even be called that.

You put the batch into the oven and closed it with your back still turned to Mikey waiting until you would feel confident enough to turn around again. You wished you were brave enough to sneak a look and see if you made him flustered as much as he made you.

But before you could find your inner peace, and not feel so hot and embarrassed, you felt a pair of strong arms move around you.

You let out a small gasp as you found yourself pressed against a firm body and a pair of arms were hugging you around your neck keeping you close all the while you heard a soft yet needyvoice say, ‘I wanted to hear your voice. I kept on telling myself that I would just hear it, and…be done with this. But when you finally picked up…,’ he sighed and you felt his forehead rest against the back of your head all the while feeling your body was warming up not just from working in your hot back kitchen, ‘I felt so happy when I heard your voice, I wanted to see you. Warm,’ he laughed a bit and you heard his smile even if you couldn’t see it, ‘When I think of you, I feel warm and cozy. You’re like a nice fluffy dream.’

Your eyes closed as you allowed the feeling of being held like this to take over every corner of your body and change it in a way you didn’t think you cared for, but now felt you needed more than anything. It was so long since someone held you and made you feel like this. You felt like you couldn’t breathe in the best way, ‘I was happy to hear your voice too, Mikey.’

All too fast, the arms let you go, and the sudden lack of his touch was almost painful. You understood what he meant about warmth because now despite the hot working oven in your kitchen, you felt chilly out of Mikey’s hold.

When you turned around Mikey was already with his back to you standing in front of the counter and chewing on one of the already cooled-off fish-shaped goods, ‘So good.’

The mood changed, and you felt like you did something wrong, but you didn’t know what. You felt like something shifted between you now, that would cause your sweet and casual mood to be ruined with tension now.

He didn’t say anything else, just kept on eating without looking at you. Not one glance or word, and you couldn’tstand it.

It was too much. You felt like you would start to cry at any moment simply just by looking at his back turn to you.

I hate this. I hate this. I hate this.

‘I-I’m sorry,’ you whispered, and your voice broke a bit at the end, ‘Whatever it is I’m sorry.’

His hand paused from taking another treat, ‘Don’t…say it like that.’

‘Like what?’

‘Like you’re hurt…because of me,’ he said quickly into the silent back kitchen, and your eyes fell to his hand again noticing how it shook mid-air, ‘I shouldn’t have come.’

Your eyes widened, and your feet moved before you could stop them.

Fingers dug into his forearm at the same time as he made a step perhaps to simply look at you or to leave, you didn’t know, but your body felt like it couldn’t take the chance.

Please, don’t leave just yet.

‘Why?’

His face was different than before. Different than that empty, exhausted, and lazy look he usually had. Different than those rare rays of pure joy he showed at times talking about good times from his past. Different than the amusement whenever he teased you. Different than the intensity right before he was about to lean down to your face. Different one than you ever saw.

Broken

His tongue darted out and licked his lip that moved despite no words coming out for a moment, ‘I’ll stain you.’

The only sounds in the kitchen after that were those made by the turned-on oven.

You blinked your eyes adjusting to their normal size as you stepped closer pressing your side against his. Your body immediately started to warm up, ‘What?’

‘I’ll stain you,’ he said again as if it would explain everything, and somehow it did without revealing anything at all.

‘You won’t,’ you said strangely calmer than you felt with your heart beating so fast.

He shook his head and shut his lifeless eyes so tight it must have hurt before he let out a small and weak, ‘Stop.’

‘You won’t.’

‘Stop saying that!’ he snapped now rather harshly and looked at you making you see just how upset he was. Angry. You didn’t know if it was at you or himself, and strangely, you found yourself wishing it was you because you hated the idea, that he would be at himself.

You held his arm tighter, ‘You won’t.’

‘You don’t know me,’ he broke free with ease and his dark eyes turned into daggers as they cut into your face, ‘You don’t know me! I’m a stranger! I’m…I’m a monster.’

You remained silent, but your face didn’t change. His words were desperate more than angry. He wanted to convince you. He wanted you to understand, you could tell, but it seemed he didn’t understand at all.

‘You’re not,’ you said and saw how his lips twisted into a nasty-looking grimace before he spoke again, ‘I’m the leader of Bonten.’

That for once made you pause at least for a moment.

Your lips parted and a simple ‘Oh,’ fell out.

‘The hell?’ he asked looking at you in disbelief now just as the timer went off again, and you went to pick up the fresh batch from the oven and turn it off.

You gathered your thoughts as you did since this always helped you out before you set the treats aside, ‘I didn’t know you were the leader. But I figured you were a part of it.’

You looked over at Mikey.

He remained frozen in place with his dark lifeless eyes on you and the rest of his face unreadable, ‘You knew?’ he asked or breathed out quietly, and you nodded curtly, ‘I saw your tattoo the first time we met. It’s all over the news. You should hide it better if you want to stay anonymous,’ your poor attempt at a joke didn’t land on fertile grounds, and you mentally cringed turning partly away to compose yourself.

Mikey took a step closer to you, and you looked right at him again unafraid only embarrassed a bit by how much you wanted to look at him, ‘Then you know what I do,’ he rose his hands, ‘You know I’ll stain you. I won’t mean to,’ absolute pain shifted across his face before he shook it away with a shake of his head, ‘But I will. My family, my friends …everyone. I’m covered in it, and if I stay too close, you will get dirty too. You…you’re the first person who got me to smile and laugh in forever. You talk to me, and I feel like I’m really here with you. You’re so warm, good…,’ he kept on shaking his head, but his eyes were still on you, ‘clean, I can’t…I won’t have your blood on my hands too.’

You didn’t answer. You couldn’t. So rather hesitantly because you weren’t confident when it came to these things, but you knew right now, Mikey needed you to be, you took hold of his hand. All the while your heart was beating loud enough that in the silence of your back kitchen and empty bakery. He had to be able to hear it as well. His hand was rougher than yours, but not by much. You were a baker after all. You worked with dough all your life. It didn’t feel bad to hold it or that it held you when his fingers interlocked with your own.

‘But I’ll stain you,’ he said so weakly almost like he didn’t believe it anymore. Almost like he just said it because he had to not because he wanted to. Almost as if he wanted you to tell him that he was right and let him go.

I won’t.

You swallowed your saliva and along with it your insecurities for a moment reaching your free hand over to the cooled-down and almost forgotten at this moment batch of taiyaki before picking one up.

You felt his eyes on you the whole time as you carefully brought it in front of his mouth and with a smile, no matter, how awkward because of what you were doing you said, ‘Open up, Mikey-kun.’

His eyes were desperate, almost pleading as if asking you to reconsider, but you knew you couldn’t, not after he first appeared in your life and baked with you. Not after he took that card and called you.

You looked away for a moment, ‘I think about you at night before I fall asleep. I can’t stop,’ you licked your lips letting out all you felt inside. You were just an ordinary you, a little baker in a small shop on some random street. It wasn’t bad. You preferred it. But maybe every once in a while, you could be someone else, ‘and I don’t want to.’

There was silence for a moment before you felt Mikey’s free hand snatch your wrist.

Your eyes shifted to his face again only to see him take a large bite out of the fish-shaped treat all the while gazing into your eyes almost like he was accepting your agreement even though you didn’t say anything out loud.

He kept on holding your wrist all the while eating the taiyaki from your palm until all you had left were crumbs of the sweet fish.

‘Can I kiss you now?’

‘No,’ you said immediately feeling your face growing hot and almost tearing your arms from Mikey’s hold, but he didn’t let you.

Instead, he blinked confused, ‘Why not?’

You shrugged your shoulders looking away knowing you were acting silly after all of that, but you couldn’t seem to help yourself, ‘I still don’t know you that well.’

‘You know more about me than anyone who does work with me,’ he deadpanned, but you didn’t budge, ‘I don’t even know your full name.’

He watched you for a moment almost making you look at him to see his expression, but before you would you felt him leaning toward you.

Your heartbeat spiked, and your throat felt dry.

Even if you tried to keep your gaze off his, you could still see the lazy smirk playing across his face when he got too close to yours, ‘Sano Manjiro.’

You wished it didn’t if only to hold your ground a bit longer but hearing him say it brought a smile to your own lips.

You rose your gaze to his excited and full-of-life eyes, ‘Okay.’

He let go of your hands in favor of taking a hold of your waist right before his face finally reached yours.

The next day, your cashier asked for the shop phone, but you told her it was fine and kept it by your side. When it rang, even if your fingers were covered in flour or chocolate, you picked it up anyway. Careless, if you left stains on it or not.

rindou pretends he doesn’t like it when you kiss on his tattoos but in reality, he loves it. especially his bonten tattoo on his neck. he loves it when you leave your love marks on it and he grumbles about it later.

but don’t let his complaining and grumbling fool you, because you’re the only one he’d allow to kiss on his tattoos.♡︎

────────。゚•┈୨♡୧┈• 。゚────────

TAKEOMI: the man who gives you thumbs up when you sing on the street

KOKO: the woman who gives you weird looks when you dance in the supermarket

MOCHI: the old woman you don't even know who gives you a lecture right on the street, because you bought a "bad" ice-cream (who cares, I like it even tho it's cheap and unhealthy)

SANZU: the barista I've met at a coffee shop and told her how pretty she is making her all flustered

KAKUCHO: the guy with long hair that randomly smiled at me on the street because i was smiling

MIKEY: people who give you a loud cheering after you danced and sang on a playground

RAN: the man who looked "weirdly" at my friend so I looked "weirdly" at him to make him feel as uncomfortable as he made my friend feel

RINDOU: that "little brother" of your friend who always tagged along with your friend group and was actually cooler than your friends
