So many of our ancestors were raised to do needlework/emboidery sewing etc as a requirement for life. To show their skill. To show they were refined. To show they would make a suitable wife. For so many other reasons.
Now imagine taking these same people and showing them variegated floss, glow in the dark floss, or floss with glitter in it. Then explaining to them that you'd be using this to stitch Optimus Prime wearing a flower crown. I'd imagine a few would be proud.
