No, I don’t victim blame, and I believe in believing victims of sexual assault when they speak out. But Timothy isn’t a victim of assault. So believing her isn’t believing a victim; it’s believing the obviously made up story of a girl desperate for fame and attention, and angry at Melanie after Melanie broke off the friendship in 2016.

DON’T: “oh my gosh I’m SO sorry! I’m such an IDIOT i feel HORRIBLE i should just DIE” This will make the person feel guilty for correcting you.

DON’T: “well I’m new to this stuff. I don’t get it.” You’re not new to pronouns, they’ve been here for very long.

DON’T: “does it really matter?” To them, yes. Don’t be a dick.

DON’T: “he/she/they whatever.” This is beyond disrespectful.

DON’T: “well you don’t look like a-” if you say this you’re hurting them even more and you’re an asshole.

DO: “I’m really sorry, [correct pronoun]”

As a society, we need to stop assuming that everyone enjoys drinking alcohol.

you can fall in love at 30. you can discover your true passion at 40. you can go back to school at 50. you can learn to draw, or paint, or sing at 60. relax. just because you didn’t do most, or any, of the things considered “young adult milestones” doesn’t mean you never will. there’s no time limit on happiness.
