Headcanon that during Scarlet, Cinder and Thorne have one of those cliche late night conversations š
Thorne: If weāre not married by 30, letās marry each other! Cinder: Iād rather stab myself with an eggbeater. Thorne: Iām just saying, weād make a great power couple. Youāre smart, Iām charmingā Cinder: Youāre delusional. Thorne: Delusional and charming. [*Fast forward to Cinder's 30th birthday*] Thorne: Happy birthday, Cinder! Cinder: What is this? Thorne: An antique eggbeater. It felt appropriate. Cinder: I hate you. Thorne: You say that every time I get you something meaningful.

This YouTube comment has been on my mind since I finished SOTR so this is what I came up with:
Lucy Gray was the mockingbird, living on the outskirts of district 12 and was there at the wrong time when they were forced to stay there after the Dark Days. They were subjected to the Capitolās politics despite not being a part of Panem, technically speaking. Lucy Gray became part of the Games and, likewise, the mockingbird became affiliated with the Capitol through the jabberjayās release into the woods, but it still continued to sing its own song.
Haymitch was the jabberjay, a Capitol tool that did what it had to in order to survive. The Capitol thought they could control them, but they retaliated in the form of rebellion. Haymitch refused to be a piece in their game and tried to end it, and the jabberjay, in the eyes of the Capitol, created a freak of nature that showed the Capitolās lack of complete control.
Katniss was the mockingjay, a slap in the face of the Capitol, something that was never meant to exist. Together, the song of the mockingbird that lived on for generations and the stubbornness of the jabberjay that refused to die, the mockingjay had the best of both worlds. It was a symbol of rebellion and unity.
Currently thinking about that scene in book 8 where Haltās checking out the sheep, looks into the mouth of one and just shakes his head. And when Horace questions him like āso⦠what was wrong with its teeth?ā Halt just goes āhow should i know? iām not a farmer. thatās just what people seem to do.ā
Absolutely took me out. I love this man
THE BALLAD OF NEVER AFTER
a comic adaptation of āthe endā
Lonely ranger this, orphan ranger that. What about rangers with kids? Give me a ranger dad⢠showing up at the gathering with two little kids and "sorry, guys, my wife really needs a break" and everyone is so delighted because "look at those cuties, you need to bring them next year". What about two best friends assigned to neighbouring fiefs? Really, they work more in tandem than alone - "You want to talk to the ranger of this fief? Sorry sir, which one do you mean, the short one or the shorter one?" Give me the biggest extrovert who hates being alone in his cabin, so he does all of his paperwork alongside scribes at the castle, and thanks to that, is literally the only one who is up-to-date with his paperwork - "What's your secret with the paperwork?" "You need to find someone to suffer with you." Give me a ranger with a partner and kids and apprentice, and a cabin by the woods that is never empty.
