This is my homecity, Kyiv, on the 2nd of January after russia attacked Ukraine with Shahed drones, 16 Tu-95MC bombers, "Kinzhal" and "Kaliber" missiles during the night.

(Overall russia launched 99 missiles of various types and 35 attack drones over Ukraine during the night and morning).

As for now, 49 people are injured, 43 out of them were hospitalized. 2 people died.

I cannot express the pain I feel seeing the beautiful and strong city where I was raised being so viciously destroyed in the front of the whole world. And I certainly cannot imagine the pain of those, who suffered during the attack today and who lost their loved ones, one of them being Lyudmyla Shevtsova, doctor of biological sciences, professor, teacher of the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.

DON'T LOOK AWAY.

DON'T FORGET THE FACE OF THE TERROR.

SUPPORT ARMING UKRAINE SO WE CAN DEFEND OURSELVES, OUR LIVES, OUR CULTURE FROM BEING DESTROYED.

I dunno how your year started. In Kyiv, it started with the day of mourning for people who died on December 29. It's 29 people last I checked the news, but the count is still rising. Rescue efforts ongoing.

The year started in Dnipro suburbs and in Mykolaiv region with getting bombed by Russians.

The year started in Donetsk region, Avdiivka, with shelling, killing a woman. In hromadas Ocheretyns'ka and Torets'ka - two people were killed by Russian artillery.

In Sumy, the year started with Russian drones killing two people.

In Kherson region, the year started with Russian killing a woman from Veletens'ke. Another person was heavily injured.

In Odesa, a 15-years old teen was killed via Russian drones. Here's a video of one of the apartment buildings that got attacked.

The year started for me reading about a boy in Kharkiv who was killed by Russians mere hours before the New Year.

The year started for me in between of air raids. There's currently one. There are explosions in the city.

For Syria, the year started with 3 people dead because of Russians and Assad forces bombed Darat-Izza, near Aleppo.

I Dunno How Your Year Started. In Kyiv, It Started With The Day Of Mourning For People Who Died On December

When will fucking russians finally run out of the holiday spirit of giving.

Drones and missiles. Again.

Instead of celebrating New Year, yesterday we had a national mourning day. By the time the morning comes, we will have more reasons to mourn. Those of us who will survive, that is.

Morning in Ukraine is as always started randomly at whatever time russians decide to try to kill us. Explosion after explosion, and you stare at the information that there is so much shit flying to kill you. Thank you air defence for being here, so i can drink my coffee and listen quietly how you work, still being startled at the sound, but recognising that its not certain death yet

okay here we go.

this year I have absolutely no creative energy to put all my emotions and feelings into words but I’ll try to.

i have little positivity left in me, the only thing I’m thinking about today is gratitude. I am so very thankful to Ukrainian Armed Forces, to titans and gods, who are holding my world together. my Ukraine stands tall despite all of the hardships thanks to you only. i can only hope that I can repay you with something.

there is less hope than last year. I remember writing about "victorious year" and I still stand by it but it was also a year of tragedies, so many tragedies. there are simply no words to describe this pain.

and one can only hope this year will be just a little better. that it will be successful for Ukrainian Air Forces and they would proudly say 100 out of 100 missiles were downed, for all brunches of Ukrainian defence forces on the ground: may Ukrainian flag fly about all of our country again!

thank you to all of the people who help us in any way possible. maybe we don’t say it enough but we are grateful, eternally grateful.

and sorry to anyone who find me annoying for posting only about Ukraine. that is my life and my Ukraine, and I only have one of each.

to 2024, may you be less awful.

And with that, the 2023 season comes to an end.

Good night!

It's always difficult for me to believe that time flies that fast. 2023 is already coming to an end, but it seems like only yesterday was the beginning of 2020 or any other previous year. Thank you, the defenders of Ukraine. For everything.

Happy New Year! Slava Ukraini!🇺🇦

❄️🎄✨️

What is the best way to financially help Ukraine? Is it better to go through organizations or gofundmes or something else I'm not aware of?

Thanks for asking, nonnie. That's very kind of you. If you or anyone else has some spare change and wants to give, here are a few ideas:

United24 is the official fundraising platform established by President Zelenskyy and other Ukrainian governmental members and directs money to all areas of the country.

The Olena Zelenska Foundation is primarily focused on medical, humanitarian, and educational aid across the country and was founded by the First Lady.

Stand for Ukraine gives you a range of charity options, depending on whether you want to donate directly to the military, or you would prefer to fund non-lethal or humanitarian aid, etc.

Come Back Alive is the main fundraising platform for the Ukrainian military. You can choose to donate to air defense, heavy weapons, demining, medical aid, overall combat equipment, etc.

Donate to Ukraine's Defenders also offers various (carefully vetted) links and options to donate to rebuilding projects, private medical assistance programs, initiatives for democracy, and others.

the main Christmas tree of the country is not in Kyiv. The main Christmas tree of the country is right here. On the destroyed block post on the road to Bakhmut. But as long as it stays here, the one in Kyiv would shine in yellow and blue, not in white, blue and red.

maternity hospital in Dnipro. residential buildings in Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa and Konotop. at least 10 explosions in Kharkiv with civilian casualties. besides this there are explosions in Zaporizhzhia and Kmelnytsk region. and it’s not even all.

‼️Approximately 110 missiles were launched by Russia, most of them were shot down, - Zelenskyi

Maternity hospital, educational institutions, shopping center, high-rise buildings and private houses, commercial warehouse, parking lot. Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia and our other cities.

Today, Russia was fighting with almost everything it has in its arsenal: "daggers" ("kyndzhaly"), S-300, cruise missiles, UAVs. Strategic bombers launched X-101/X-505. Approximately 110 missiles were fired, most of which were shot down.

Unfortunately, as a result of the shelling, there are dead and wounded.

A little Child carries a white flag as he flees with his dad and sister from Israeli bombardment in gaza. The father asks him why are you holding it? The kid replies with: I don't know!!

Translation for their conversation:

- Where are you going? Are you scared?

= No!

- Why are you carrying a white flag?

= I don't know!!

- We're moving cause we're under attack

= yeah

- Are you scared?

= No!

- what about you Soma (the little girl)?

= Yes. (Little soma is scared).

- The tank is behind us, hurry up.

Soma runs and calls "baba" and he says: Don't be scared sweetie. Don't! Alhamdulilah we were able to get them out.

This is how displaced people woke up today, trying to gather their family to get away from the bombs. In what world is it obligatory for a child to hold a white flag? Shouldn't the fact that he's a child be a white flag in itself?

stories of children whose lives were taken by russians

1. Marharyta from Kharkiv region, 8 years old.

On June 21, cluster munitions fell in the yard of her family's house. Marharyta died instantly, her heart was pierced through. The girl's father, at the age of 36, has become completely gray. The mother cannot describe in words how she feels after losing her child.

2. Kyrylo from Kherson, 8 years old.

In April, the family evacuated from Kherson to Vinnytsia. On July 14, russia shelled the city, Kyrylo was in the car with his uncle. The boy died immediately from a fragment hitting his head, then an explosion occurred. The body was searched for several days. It was identified only through DNA analysis.

3. Daryna from Kharkiv region, 15 years old.

On March 13, a russian missile hit the family's house. When the father got to the hand of his dead daughter, he said: "Our Daryna is no more". She was buried in her native Dergachi. Mom recalls that the missiles flew over the people here and there. "Daryna, this is a farewell salute to you." said her father.

4. Polina, 8 years old.

On March 13, Polina and her mother wanted to evacuate Mariupol. As soon as they took a few steps outside, the russian military started shelling with mortars. Nadiya's mother died instantly. Both of Polina's legs and arms were broken. The girl was operated on in the city hospital. But on March 16, Polina's kidneys failed and she died. Polina was shooting videos on YouTube, dancing. She liked to change into different costumes and perform on stage.

5. Anna, 9 years old.

On March 19, an enemy shell hit near the house where Anna and her mother Yana were hiding. They went down to the basement. In the morning, slag began to fall from above. Several basement floor slabs fell on people. The mother rushed to help her daughter, but she could not pull her out from under the rubble on her own. Anya and other people remained buried in the basement. The girl liked to work with computers. Her mother promised that when Anya turned 10, she would enroll her in programming lessons. However...

6. Denys, 9 years old.

On September 3, the twins were walking in a park in Dnipropetrovs'k region. Suddenly, MLRS shells started flying. "I felt the space around me with my hand. He was at my feet. I went to him: "Danya, Danya ... ", but he was silent. Although they told me to lie down, I started crawling to my son. Ruslan was screaming next to me," the boy's mother recalls the shelling. On December 22, Denys was supposed to celebrate his birthday.

7. Oleksandr from Chernihiv, 13 years old.

On March 9, Sasha and his mother Tetyana decided to evacuate from Chernihiv. However, a shell exploded near the pedestrian column, and the boy was hit by many fragments. "He couldn't say anything, his eyes were closed, he was breathing heavily, he wheezed three times and died. He remained lying there," Sasha's mother recalls. In 2022, Sasha was an eighth grader. He was interested in the crypto market and dreamed of developing a YouTube channel for an english-speaking audience.

My favourite facts about crimean tatars:

The first ever institution of higher education on the territory of modern Ukraine was founded in Crimea: it was medrese of Khan Uzbek, founded in 1333. Currently only ruins remain of the building.

Crimean tatar women were the first in the islamic world to get the rigt to vote.

In 1917, the first Crimean tatar Kurultay (something alike to democratically elected parilament) included women.

Moscow used to pay tribute to the Crimean Khanate :)

In 2021, Örnek, the traditional crimean tatar orniament, was included in the UNESCO's list of intangible cultural heritage of humanity. (Learn more here and look at the beautiful examples)

One of the most prominent human rights' activists on the territory of USSR was a crimean tatar Mustafa Abdülcemil oğlu Cemilev. He spent 15 years in prisons for this. He would later become the head of Mejlis (the highest governmental organ of crimean tatars) and is currently a member of ukrainian parliament.

2016 Eurovision winner, Susana Alimivna Jamaladinova, better known by her stage name Jamala, is a crimean tatar.

Maidan, which is the general word with which ukrainian call the anti-governmental protests, is a crimean tatar word.

Cheburek is a national crimean tatar dish.

My part in broken tablet challenge "Icy"! While drawing it, I was really hoping that I'll manage to reproduce the previous(?) art properly. I think I succeeded!

Моя участь у зламаному планшеті "Крижана"! Поки малювала його, дійсно сподівався, що мені пощастить правильно відтворити попередній(?) малюнок. Гадаю, вдалося!
