He follows Steve back to America and the Avengers compound struggling to try and make sense of everything that has happened. Then Tony Stark returns to earth, broken, sick, desolate. Bucky feels he owes Tony for what he did to his parents, he wants to find a way to make amends and the only way he think to do that is to act as protection for Tony while he slowly recovers from his time in space.

Tony couldn't care less what happens to him now. He failed, Peter is gone, two-thirds of the Universe is gone, why should he care if he lives or dies now? he is determined to help others while he can though and if that means Barnes is following him around then he can help too.

What neither expect is a relationship to blossom between them or the family that blooms out of the ashes of their shattered pasts.

In the wake of the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the Avengers need to pick up the pieces, and figure out where to go from here. Tony had a plan, at least he thought he had a plan, but Steve Rogers seems to have blown most of those out of the water.

:/ … admittedly, I am very much not a Stony shipper (it would have to be so massively au and written beautifully for me to ship it), but the Tony in this story made me laugh so much, especially with some of his banter. Not to mention I was hungry for this certain story type, so thus I read.

Viggo hears the scratching in the middle of the night like a key trying to make its way into a lock with the occasional ka-thump-thump of off beat steps and a body clumsily hitting any surface in its path. It goes on long enough to drag him out of the warmth of his covers so he can investigate. This neighborhood hardly has a problem with burglars, but that doesn’t mean it’s out of the realm of possibility.

The scratching continues and as he gets closer to the front door there’s the addition of mumbled swears after each fumble. Viggo looks through the peephole to get an idea of what he’s dealing with. He’s fairly confident he can handle whoever may be on the other side, especially in his irate state, yet he takes the precaution just in case. What he sees is a mess of auburn hair blocking most of the view.

It’s a familiar mess, one that Viggo has wanted to get his hands into for several weeks, now; ever since his newest neighbor has proven to be an intelligent and witty young man. He grins, irritation washing away, and opens the door wide enough to have the auburn haired youth nearly falling into his chest.
