The words that came out of Doctor Yamamoto’s mouth made Katsuki feel like he wanted to throw up. Decades? How many decades? This couldn’t be real. Maybe he was just in one of those dreams that makes it seem like you’re in an alternative universe. Yeah, that much be it, he was just sleeping and none of this was real.
He was just asleep, Midoriya isn’t an old man with grandkids and Katsuki hadn’t been in a coma situation for many decades. Just a dream.
A smirk made its way onto the ash blonde’s face.“You know what? I don’t give a fuck.” He laid down in the hospital bed with closed eyes and a smirk. “This is all just a dream. None of this is even real. It’s all just a dumb dream.”
Doctor Yamamoto looked at the blonde as his eye twitched in annoyance. “Alright then. If this is a dream like you think it is,” Yamamoto took out his phone out of his pocket and turned it on then made the screen face Katsuki. “Tell me the time.” Katsuki groaned in annoyance before opening his eyes and looked at the time on the screen.
“1:31pm. What? You need new glasses or something?” “No but know you should know that you’re not dreaming. If you were dreaming right now, you wouldn’t have been able to read the time.” Seeing how the male’s expression wasn’t changing from how annoyed he was, Yamamoto took off the stethoscope hanging from his neck and placed the chestpiece on Katsuki’s cheek. From how cold it was, it made him flinch away and place a hand over his check.
“Believe me now? You’re not sleeping, and everything you see is the new now.” Yamamoto felt his eyebrow twitch with annoyance as he stared at him. Bakugou’s eyes stared at him back. The ash blonde didn’t know what to say- what to think.
“Alright you sick fucks- am I in that gaming system Dunceface thought I couldn’t do? Get me out of here!” His hands were out ready to use his quirk, a form of expression really rather than wanting to harm someone- he was still a hero, well sidekick but still. Hana let out a yelp of surprise and quickly hid behind Yamamoto.
The tall man held his hand up to the blond although it did nothing to calm Katsuki down, it made him stay quiet.
“You’re not in a game either. I can tell trying to accept this information is troubling which is why we decided to call in a...friend you can say. She should be here soon so for the time being you’ll be here. While you wait, eating should do you some good since you’ve gone too far without it.” Yamamoto looked back at Hana and gestured to set the tray of food on the side table which she quickly did before returning to her hiding spot behind the doctor.
Could it be racoon eyes? What if it was earphones? Hell, it could maybe be round face. Katsuki wanted to ask who was coming but didn’t get the chance as Yamamoto and Hana excused themselves and left his room. With a sigh of frustration, he ran a hand down his face before he looked over at the tray holding his food. A growl came from his stomach and he found himself reaching for the tray.
***
While he ate in silence, the TV having been turned off a few minutes prior, his mind wandered. He didn’t want to believe he’s been out for so long- that everyone moved on without him as they got to live their lives. Oh lord, who was still alive? Who was dead? Did they know he woke up? Would they come? So many questions ran through his head and it was starting to give him a headache.
The more he thought, the more questions than answers he got.
Before he knew it he had already finished his food, his plastic spork hitting the bottom of the bowl as he mindlessly stared at it. The coldness of the room didn’t faze him at all despite slight goosebumps forming on his skin. His brain was doing laps as he tried to wrap around his supposed “new reality.” ‘Who’s still alive?’ was a question that just wouldn’t get out of his mind. The thought alone made him shiver.
He shook his head, wanting the thought to go away with no avail. Katsuki huffed as he set the tray back on the side table before looking at his hands. If he had really been out for that long...could he still use his quirk like he used to?
A knock made Katsuki lift his head, his eyes stopping on a woman with white hair that was done up in a ponytail, red eyes and wore a yellow dress with white details and a white lab coat. Neither of them said a word, Katsuki’s eyes were too busy focusing on the single horn on her head while the woman looked at him in disbelief.
She was old, well, not that old but the small amount of wrinkles on her face made it noticeable that she wasn’t as young as she used to be. Despite seeing her like that, anyone could tell her eyes had the power to hold so many emotions.
“Bakugou?...They really weren’t kidding when they said you were out- I almost thought they were messing with me but..” In only a few seconds she had made her way to the bedside and had pulled him into an almost bone crushing hug. “It’s been so long and when I got the call I came as soon as I could-” The white haired female pulled away from the hug and gave him a once over. “Oh my bad, you’re probably in pain. I didn’t hurt you did I?”
Katsuki just stared at her speechless. No, it couldn’t be. Or could it? It’s… “Eri?” His brows furrowed at her and his face softened once he saw the smile grow on her face. Eri didn’t hesitate to pull him back into another bone crushing hug. Katsuki slowly wrapped her arms around her, almost as if he was scared she’d disappear if he returned a full hug.
They stayed like that for a bit. It brought comfort to them both. For Eri it was getting to see one of her long lost friends after so long and for Bakugou it was getting to see a familiar face and not having to deal with complete strangers.
Both of them eventually pulled away from the hug and she grabbed his hands and Katsuki didn’t feel like pulling away his hands from her grasps. “Are you okay?” In Eri’s eyes Bakugou could see the concern pooling in them. “No.” It was a quiet reply and she almost didn’t hear him. But she did and let out a small sigh.
“The others will be so excited to see you again after so long… Yamamoto told me how I’m the only one who was told you were out. They didn’t want you to be possibly overwhelmed if everyone was here all at once. Slowly you’ll meet everyone again but for now, I’ll be the only one for the time being that will meet with you.”
“What happened that day?” The sudden question asked made Eri go quiet. “We won’t tell you now, our main priority is for you to recover. Baby step by baby step, you’ll be told the full story. Just don’t rush it. Take it as it comes.” Katsuki wanted to groan but couldn’t. Not at Eri, she doesn’t deserve that.
“Baby steps Bakugou, very slow baby steps. You can do it.”
Katsuki Bakugou had never been more anxious and desperate for answers in his life before that moment.

Hey....hey...how y’all doin’?
Okay so I know I said I’d get this chapter out last Saturday but I just couldn’t find that motivation to see what direction I wanted to take this chapter but I FINALLY FINISHED IT! LATE BUT IT’S FINISHED!

AUTHOR ASK: when you write, do you listen to music or did you enjoy silence? Do you have a special part of the day when you only write?
I always like to listen to music whenever I'm writing because it really helps set the mood and ambience for whatever scenes I'm writing and allows me to kind of picture it better in my mind's eye.
That's why I've started to make playlists for each of the fics that I'm working on, which I've begun uploading on the blog in case any fic writers or rps want to use it for their own projects.
The fic playlists I have so far include:
a more savage narnia (narniacore, fantasycore)
breathe for me (teen wolf, cw drama songs, usual suspects)
blooperverse (vintage, through the decades, 50s - 90s)
agents of fate (fairy tail, kind of chaotic)
the seda series (star wars, lightsaber duels, enemies to lovers)
true blue (rivals to friends to lovers, pacific rim, aussie hits)
born in a thunderstorm (unrequited love, attack on titan)
the chaos theory (jurassic park, jeff goldblum vibes, vintage)
as the world caves in (bnha playlist, quirk battle vibes)
the survivor series (90s alt, kinda aimed for neo noir and missed)
myriad of scars (balance between cottagecore and 2000s school disco)
dead girls walking (buffy the vampire slayer, the bronze vibes)
dead down under (the walking dead, nitty gritty country songs)
teen superhero au (unrequited love, lgbt, 2017 vibes mostly)
final girl vs. mr. killer (Halloween hits, slasher edits, you know)
Bonus playlist for general vibes when writing:
in the middle of the night (ngl kind of smutty, sexual tension vibes)
My playlist for my original work:
the infernal heirs (written in 2018, demons n stuff, feel free to ask about it)

You hold the power to a happier mind in the palm of your hand.
I’ve noticed a need for mental health resources in this little circle I write for. Unfortunately, the United States especially is not great about advertising these resources, so their existence is widely unknown. These resources are mostly U.S. resources, however going through your country’s healthcare system, your employer, or your university for information should put you on the right path.
I will maintain and update this list as I have time and more information, but I wanted to get something out ASAP.
Please, do not entrust your mental well-being to strangers or venting areas. You deserve proper attention and respect paid to your pain, and at any given time, you can approach someone going through an equally tough time and end up feeling unheard.
You have control over your mental health to a certain extent and that, to me, is empowering. Healthy habits as well as affordable treatment and even online resources can help get you on the right track to a better life, and put you on a path to healing. Please also check with your university, if you attend one, as they will have counselors and other information available to you.
National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: Available 24 hours. Calls in English, Spanish.1-800-273-8255
If you’re considering suicide, I beg you, call this number. You will not be harmed or taken to a mental hospital. Just tell yourself, “If I make it through this call then-” and start setting small goals in the world of the living for yourself. One step at a time. No matter how badly you feel about yourself, someone, somewhere, cares about you. This is an excellent resource to use if you’re considering acting on those thoughts.Talk to another human who is ready to help you 24/7.
Mental Health America (MHA):
This is the absolute BEST online hub for locating mental health resources in the United States. If you live in another country, you should have similar resources, so please do a quick Google search to check. However, they provide universal information such as nutritional information, healthy habits, etc. They also have a screening tool to help you decide what action you can take to improve your situation.
Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Helpline: call 1-800-662-4357
They will help you find treatment for mental health and substance abuse issues. Free, 24/7, in Spanish and English.
“I can’t afford therapy” MHA info on how to proceed
Excellent information on how to speak with insurance and tap into other resources in order to address and improve your mental health. Group therapy is a great alternative to individual therapy, which is more expensive. There are even free support groups (maybe not so much in the world of COVID) that meet online and you can speak with others facing similar issues.
LGBTQIA+ resources for mental health
Resources for those with the specific needs that may exist as a member of this community. These include crisis text lines, directories to local resources, assistance with finding discrimination-free treatment for mental and physical health issues, and information about caring for your mind in a world that isn’t always accepting of you as you are. They also provide educational tools for family members to help better understand LGBTQIA+ individuals experience.
Therapy for Black Girls.ORG
“ Therapy for Black Girls is an online space dedicated to encouraging the mental wellness of Black women and girls.” Using this resource Black women and girls can find a therapist who may relate to them on a more personal level, and better understand their challenges and experiences.
Racial stress Information and resources American Psychological Association (APA):
The self care section of this is near the center. You can reach it through the “related” link directly to the right under the header.
People of color face unique challenges in the United States. The APA provides information on how this can impact parenting, how to take care of yourself as you experience racial stress, and resources to help with a multitude of issues you may face.
MHA National “31 tips to boost your mental health”
There are things you can start doing RIGHT NOW to improve your mental health. Don’t let others be in control of your well-being. Asking for help is of course encouraged, but at the end of the day, you want to hold the reigns and control your life. From healthy sleep to exercise, all these tips have been proven to have a positive impact on your mental health.

Why was it so cold? When did it get so quiet?
So many questions ran through Bakugou’s head but all he did was grab the blanket and held it closer to him as he tried to get rid of the coldness he felt. He stayed that way for a few seconds before his eyes shot open and he sat up, his eyes darting around the room. It took him a few seconds to realize he was in a hospital room. “What the fuck?” He mentally groaned at how parched his throat was. He looked around the room again and grunted once he noticed there wasn’t water to be found.
Looking over at the table next to the bed he saw how there wasn’t anything on it besides a remote for the bed, another remote for the tv and an empty vase. It didn’t bother him that there wasn’t any “Get better soon” bull crap his friends would get him while recovering from the latest villain attack. He knew they meant well but getting all of it back to his apartment was such a pain in the ass.
Speaking of which, what the hell even happened? All he can remember was fighting against one of the villains and when he was close to landing a solid hit on them- he blacked out. He guessed that another villain helped with knocking him out. Remembering that pissed him off to no end. Katsuki Bakugou was definitely not someone who would get knocked out so easily. He looked down at himself and saw the many bandages littering his arms.
The young ash blond was so deep in his thoughts, he hadn’t noticed the nurse walk in. His vermillion eyes looked over at the doorway when the sound of a clipboard falling onto the floor and a loud gasp caught his attention. There was a girl who he guessed was a nurse. He noticed right away how her eyes were wide with shock.
“Why the hell are you looking-” “Doctor! Doctor Yamamoto! He’s awake!” The nurse interrupted him as she called for the doctor, head out in the hallway and glanced over at Bakugou every now and then. He heard a pair of footsteps quickly making their way to his room and a tall, skinny man entered. He had straight black hair and brown eyes and oddly reminded Bakugou of one of his friends, Hanta Sero.
“Ah- how are you feeling Bakugou?” Doctor Yamamoto asked him after sending the nurse out to get Bakugou some water.
Bakugou put his hand on his neck. “I feel like shit.” He managed to say. Yamamoto hummed at his response as he looked at the clipboard he picked up when he entered the room. He asked him a few questions, writing down all of Bakugou’s responses. The nurse, who was named Hana, came back and handed Bakugou the glass of water. Bakugou took it and immediately downed it all. Once the glass was empty it was set on the table as Yamamoto cleared his throat.
“So due to your current condition, you’ll be on break from doing any hero work for the time being. A few months at most.” Bakugou’s brows furrowed. “Why not just call Recovery Girl? Have her use her quirk, and I can go back to beating villain’s asses in a few days.” Neither Yamamoto or Hana said a thing for a few seconds.
“Well Recovery Girl can’t because she’s-” “Visiting family so she’s not here.” Yamamoto cut off Hana. Bakugou groaned. Great. “We’ll return in a while, your file has to be updated. Hana will return with food for you to eat. So in the meantime, just turn on the TV.” Both Yamamoto and Hana excused themselves and walked out of the room.
“Doctor do you really think it’s a good idea for him to turn the TV on?” Hana asked as they walked away from his room. Yamamoto nods. “Nothing important is happening today so there shouldn’t be a reason for any of them to be shown on the news.”
Bakugou sighed in irritation as he reached for the TV remote and turned it on. For a few seconds, he just sat there in the bed going through channels to see if any would interest him. None of them did and he decided to stop on one of the news channels. Bakugou was about to turn off the TV, nothing was catching attention, and right when his thumb was about to press the power button, a very familiar name was said.
“Former pro hero Deku was spotted at the park with his two grandkids. What a heartwarming sight to see right?” The news woman let out a small laugh as a picture of an old man and two kids sitting on each side of him appeared on screen. Bakugou’s eyes were close to popping out of their eye sockets. What the hell was happening? That couldn’t be the Deku he knew. Deku wasn’t an old grandpa. The guy was nineteen the last time he saw him for crying out loud!
Bakugou wasn’t even paying attention to what the news people were saying anymore. He just sat there speechless for a few moments before boiling anger started appearing.
“What the actual FUCK!” Bakugou shouts out loudly, confused about everything that was happening. He hadn’t noticed Yamamoto enter his room again, Hana appearing seconds later holding his tray of food and they were both breathless since they ran to his room.
“Turn the TV off-” Yamamoto quickly went over to the bedside to reach for the remote but Bakugou held it out of the doctor’s reach.
“No! What fucking day is it? Tell me what day it is…” Bakugou asked him fuming. Neither Hana or Yamamoto answered right away. “Answer me dammit!”
“The question you should ask is what year is it.” Hana said quietly. Bakugou looked at her, his glare only scaring her.
“Why the hell should I ask what year it is?” The ash blond looked between the two in front of him.
“Bakugou,” Yamamoto sighed, he didn’t want him to find out this way. “you’ve been out for decades. Sixty-six years to be exact.”
Hey it’s Ash! I know I haven’t really uploaded any works and I apologize for that. This week is finals week for me and I have been working on Time Forgot Him and a few other works, that I’ll introduce later, when I can. While being away I got to thinking of another series I’d like to add.
The series would just be about the dreams I have. This came to mind when I was talking to a friend about one of the dreams I had once. They mentioned how I can remember great detail about the dreams I have and since I’m pretty sure my friends are lowkey sick of me rambling on and on about said dreams, why not post them here and see what others think of them?
Would that be interesting to you all? Just let me know if it’s a good idea or not.
Again, I’m very sorry for the lack of uploads but I will be posting chapter two to Time Forgot Him for those who read it and are curious of when the next update is!
